Ana's POV
I reflected on the encounter with Althea's parents at the police station the day before.
'Since I just reconnected with the Vernon family, Althea's parents probably have no idea I'm part of them now,' I mused. 'That must be why they're comfortable letting their daughter hang around me.'
Althea scanned my studio before glancing at Madeline beside her.
"Are you busy working, Ana?" Althea inquired.
Before I could respond, Althea dutifully slipped off her backpack and settled onto the couch, clutching her bag tightly.
"Don't worry about me, Ana. I won't disturb your work. I'll just sit here until you're done, then we can hang out—I promise!" Althea chirped, her voice exceptionally sweet and mature.
What a considerate little angel.
Althea's polite behavior made me feel slightly guilty.
Madeline recognized Althea as the child Hunter and I had assisted yesterday. Not wanting to leave Althea waiting around, she thought Skye might entertain her since she had some downtime.
