Chapter 30: Great Ape Power
BOOM!
A tremendous crash. A giant beast fell from the air, directly cratering the ground in a large character-shaped hole. The beast in the crater fell unconscious. Then its physique began shrinking. Finally, Raditz's form appeared.
Turles landed at the crater's edge, frowning at the de-transformed Raditz.
"What exactly went wrong?" Turles muttered to himself quietly.
After basically completing the camp, Turles had immediately dragged Raditz into Great Ape power experiments. After several attempts, aside from repeatedly stimulating Raditz's transformation, Turles still had no clue about Great Ape power.
Glancing at the awakened Raditz trying to sneak away, Turles fell back into thought.
"The direction should be correct. Saiyan power originates in the tail. Besides that, I've stimulated every other body part. Only the tail produces cellular mutation from stimulation. So if the direction is right, the method must be wrong."
"Both involve mental stimulation of the tail. Why hasn't Raditz sensed that divine Great Ape figure? Is it my problem or Raditz's problem? Was that really a hallucination I experienced?"
"No, it shouldn't be a hallucination!"
"That figure was so clear. I couldn't have suddenly imagined a Great Ape at that moment. There must be something I haven't noticed. But what?"
The more Turles contemplated, the more questions arose. This made him irritable. He couldn't help firing an energy blast, directly hitting Raditz who'd just sneakily climbed from the crater.
"Boss! Please spare me!" After being discovered, Raditz didn't give up. After blocking the energy blast, he jumped up directly. Landing, he took two steps in three strides to reach Turles, falling to his knees while clutching Turles's thigh.
"Boss, I really can't take it anymore! Please have mercy and let me go!" Raditz's voice was genuinely heart-wrenching and tear-inducing—like he'd suffered terrible bullying.
Looking down at Raditz clutching his thigh while crying with snot and tears, Turles's mouth twitched involuntarily. He kicked this troublemaker far away.
"Scram!" Before Raditz's face could show relief, Turles continued: "We continue tomorrow!"
Raditz's face immediately collapsed. Dragging his body, he walked toward camp like a walking corpse.
Watching Raditz leave, Turles shook his head with an expression of disappointment. His battle power had improved tremendously through training, yet that death-warmed-over attitude constantly irritated Turles.
Ignoring that fool who "didn't appreciate his blessings," Turles continued his previous contemplation.
According to his thinking, if he could channel tail-based Great Ape power enhancement without affecting cellular mutation and transformation, that would be his ideal state. Like Super Saiyan 4 transformation, except without needing Golden Great Ape transformation first. But now it seemed his thinking was naive. Because Great Ape power only had two states—sealed or released. At least with his current strength, that's how it was.
After hesitating, Turles still extended his right hand. Internal ki continuously released into his palm, simulating full moon Blutz Wave frequency. Upon reaching 17 million cycles, the light sphere suddenly expanded. Soon it reached basketball size.
Gently sending this artificial moon into midair, he didn't dare place it too high. If Broly saw it, the consequences would be unimaginable!
As Blutz Waves radiated, his tail reacted to the light stimulation. Turles once again felt that berserk impulse. His body gradually began changing.
Turles's eyes locked tightly on the airborne artificial moon. Teeth clenched, he fully suppressed his body's changes. This was difficult—his will battling bodily instinct. But sometimes bodily instinct was uncontrollable.
"ROAR!"
Suddenly, Turles's eyes bulged. Finally unable to restrain himself, he roared. Bodily instinct completely overwhelmed will. His body began transforming into Great Ape form.
Soon, a dozens-of-meters-tall Great Ape appeared in place. Just after completing transformation, the ape roared skyward. Energy beams began gathering in its ferocious maw, continuously firing in all directions.
Meanwhile, Broly—helping organize the camp—suddenly stood, face grave as he looked toward Turles's direction. Then, dropping the massive log in his hands, he shot skyward, flying toward Turles.
Flying through air, Broly saw Turles rampaging destructively from far away. Accelerating, he rushed directly before Turles.
Staring gravely at the Great Ape, Broly discovered Turles's strength had increased since last transformation. His current displayed battle power had reached 1,000,000. Even he needed careful handling.
Just as Broly was about to form a Destructo Disc, Turles's voice emerged from the ape's mouth.
"Broly, I'm still conscious. Leave immediately—and remember, don't look at the sky!"
Hearing Turles's words, Broly first relaxed, then subconsciously started looking upward. Realizing something was wrong, he immediately tried stopping—but too late. Though Broly wanted to lower his head, the artificial moon above was like a magnet, firmly attracting his gaze.
Turles—having somehow regained consciousness—saw Broly's action. Silently cursing, he immediately charged toward Broly's tail.
"ROAR!"
Another roar. Another Great Ape appeared on scene. Turles rushed before Broly, hand reaching toward his tail. A black shadow appeared before his eyes, directly covering his face. After sharp pain, Turles's massive body flew backward.
"Shit!" Flying backward, Turles couldn't help cursing.
Halting his body, Turles looked at Broly's physique—several sizes larger than his own. Internally he constantly complained: indeed, whether reality or fiction, whatever you least want happening inevitably happens. And reality is often more fantastical than fiction.
Looking at Broly—even more berserk than himself—Turles wasn't surprised at all. He couldn't maintain rationality during his first transformation. How could the mentally unstable Broly?
That's right. Unlike last transformation, this time after initially venting one mouth beam, Turles had quickly regained rationality. Afterward, he'd just been venting frustration. After all, this transformation hadn't helped him find methods for controlling Great Ape power. But he'd forgotten Broly could sense his ki signature.
Turles raised his hand, firing an energy blast that directly shattered the airborne artificial moon. Then he continued observing Broly's condition.
Soon, Turles discovered Broly's differences from himself and Raditz.
Broly's transformation was more complete. Whether physique or post-transformation battle power increase exceeded theirs dramatically.
By Turles's estimate, Broly's current battle power had reached ten-million-class. But Broly's normal state lacked 1,000,000 battle power. Meaning Broly's transformation amplification exceeded 10x.
"Could the legendary Super Saiyan really be a cheat? Who exactly is the protagonist here?!"
Turles couldn't help grinding his teeth. He admitted it—he was jealous. With Broly's current battle power, if not for the control issue, he'd want to take Broly for a stroll against Frieza!
Growing increasingly depressed, Turles stood in place dazed. He didn't notice Broly's gaze had already fixed on him. After all, in this vicinity, he was the only living thing—and his physique was SO large.
A chill brought Turles's wandering thoughts back. Looking up, he directly met Broly's blood-red pupils. His fur immediately bristled.
"Not good!"
Realizing this, Turles finally understood his current predicament. Without hesitation, he fled away from camp.
"ROAR!"
Seeing Turles flee, Great Ape Broly roared again. An astonishing energy beam shot toward Turles's retreating figure.
Sensing the energy fluctuation behind him, Turles's form sharply twisted. The energy beam nearly grazed his body as he dodged. Turles didn't dare be careless, continuing forward.
Now Turles faced a dilemma. Transformation gave him tenfold power amplification but also enlarged his physique, inevitably affecting speed and agility.
Yet he didn't dare sever his own tail. If he could currently survive under Broly's attacks, once he cut his tail and reverted to original form—not only would there be a weakness period, but whether 100,000 battle power could maintain composure before ten-million-class power was questionable.
After narrowly dodging another energy blast, Turles felt somewhat fortunate. Thankfully, after losing rationality, Broly only retained instinct—even forgetting flight ability. Otherwise his situation would be more dangerous.
But continuing like this wasn't a solution. Though he'd destroyed the artificial moon, half an hour remained until transformation ended. He had to ensure survival during this half hour without Broly killing him.
Turles continuously dodged Great Ape Broly's attacks, making the already berserk Broly even more irritable.
Vicious eyes locked onto Turles. Broly's massive body began slowly leaving the ground. First just slightly, then his entire form gradually rising. Soon, Broly's bestial intuition remastered flight ability.
Turles had just felt relieved about Broly stopping attacks. Glancing back inadvertently, he nearly fell from midair in fright.
"Holy shit!"
