Chapter 32: Turles's Ultra Instinct Sign

"Pseudo-Ultra Instinct!"

That's right—what Turles had just used was Ultra Instinct. However, it differed greatly from how Whis taught Goku and Vegeta in canon.

In canon, the Seventh Universe's Angel Whis had taught both Goku and Vegeta the Angels' training method during their training—Ultra Instinct. Goku had also used Ultra Instinct to transform into silver-haired form in Dragon Ball Super, battling Jiren whose strength had reached Destroyer God level, ultimately achieving victory.

Ultra Instinct—the Angels' training method. Requires the practitioner to maintain inner calm with no distracting thoughts. Body and consciousness separate. Relying on each body part to perform conditioned reflex movements without conscious thought, thus achieving ultimate reaction and speed. Belongs to "Divine Technique" category—the Angels' standard ability.

During gravity chamber training, Turles had continuously reverse-engineered techniques from Z-Warriors in his memories, especially after learning some thoughts from his previous life also provided important inspiration in this Dragon Ball world. This had filled him with motivation. Like the Solar Flare previously, and the Destructo Disc taught to Broly—all reverse-engineered by Turles this way.

And this divine technique—which even Destroyer God Beerus hadn't fully mastered according to Whis—Turles naturally wouldn't pass up. However, possibly due to strength gaps, Turles hadn't mastered Ultra Instinct. But according to his own circumstances, he'd developed a technique—

Pseudo-Ultra Instinct!

Through his mental simulation training, Turles made his consciousness highly focused, manifesting all combat data concretely in his mental world, calculating all possible attacks within that mental space. Like equipping himself with a supercomputer.

With this "supercomputer," Turles could simulate all enemy attack routes in his mental world, then have his body attack or evade based on these calculation results.

Today was Turles's first time using this technique in actual combat. The effect seemed quite good.

"Seems I've discovered something."

Dodging Broly's attack again, Turles's eyes flashed with insight, as if understanding something.

The Pseudo-Ultra Instinct state seemed to provide tremendous enhancement to Turles's mental power. This let Turles discover something from Broly's attacks.

Turles wasn't eager to immediately resolve Broly's issue. Instead, while dodging Broly's attacks, he continuously observed Broly's bodily condition. Sometimes he'd even deliberately press close to Broly's body.

Thus, Broly continuously launched attacks at Turles, while Turles barely dodged each strike. Not that Turles didn't want to attack Broly—his attacks had zero effect on Broly. Great Ape transformation's enhancement effect on Broly was simply too great.

After another ten minutes, Turles confirmed severing the tail truly hadn't affected Broly's transformation at all. He stopped evading. Instead, he charged toward Broly's attack. Upon approaching the strike, he directly used Afterimage Technique.

Four afterimages appeared in Broly's four directions. This interfered with Broly's vision. Like Doria before him, lacking ki-sensing ability, Broly could only attack each afterimage. But all proved useless—Turles had already silently reached Broly's severed tail wound.

Turles extended his right hand, condensing energy at his fingertip, pressing it to the tail stump.

Though only a small energy point, Broly reacted as if suffering critical damage. His massive body shuddered, then his mouth released a shrill howl. Like a kite with a severed string, he directly fell from sky toward ground.

Seeing his hypothesis confirmed, Turles finally relaxed. His eyes rolled back. He also followed Broly downward.

---

When Turles awoke again, he found himself already in the medical room, still floating in healing fluid within the tank.

Turles wasn't surprised by this. Among Red Stone Planet's four Saiyans, he undoubtedly used the healing tank most frequently.

Glub glub glub!

Noticing Turles had awakened, Karl quickly signaled his clansmen to shut down the system and open the tank.

Turles emerged from the healing tank, asking Karl: "How many days have passed?"

"Sir, three days have passed," Karl—standing nearby—immediately answered.

"Three days? Not bad. What about Broly?" Turles repeated, then asked again.

"Lord Broly recovered on the first day. He's been waiting outside the medical room. Should I call him?"

"No need. I'll find him myself." Turles began walking toward the door. Upon reaching it, as if remembering something, he stopped and asked: "Was Broly's severed tail retrieved?"

"The tail?" Karl seemed surprised.

For Saiyans, severed tails regrew within a month. So though tail-severing was rare, Saiyans didn't bother retrieving tails afterward.

Seeing this, Turles immediately ordered: "Send people to retrieve Broly's tail. Have Raditz lead the team."

"Yes, sir!" Regarding Turles's orders, Karl never relaxed.

Nodding, Turles left the medical room. He still had matters requiring Broly.

Exiting the medical room, he indeed saw Broly's figure in the corridor. Current Broly kept staring at the medical room door with worried eyes.

Seeing Turles emerge, Broly immediately grew excited, quickly approaching Turles and pulling him into an embrace.

Completely unprepared, Turles was stunned by Broly's sudden action. Half a day passed before he recovered.

"Broly, I'm fine!"

Patting Broly's arm, Turles consoled him while signaling release. No helping it—Turles wasn't as tall as Broly.

After releasing Turles, Broly once again became that honest youth. A red cloud crossed his face. Scratching his hair, he said: "Turles, I'm so glad you're okay!"

"Heh." Turles chuckled lightly, internally somewhat moved: 'Broly is still that boy—unchanged in the slightest. Except when he's fighting, of course.'

"Alright, Broly, this was just an accident. Don't take it to heart." Seeing Broly's self-reproach, Turles consoled: "If I hadn't failed to notify you beforehand, you wouldn't have transformed into Great Ape. This is my fault."

Seeing Broly still somewhat uneasy, Turles had to redirect: "By the way, I need to see you about something. Come find me in the lab shortly with Paragus."

Simple Broly was indeed distracted by Turles's words. Somewhat confused, he asked: "You and my dad? Is something wrong?"

"I'll explain later. Go get Paragus first. I'll wait for you both in the lab."

Turles left it mysterious, not giving Broly a chance to press, turning toward the laboratory.

Just after closing the laboratory door, Turles could no longer restrain himself. Both hands continuously rubbed his temples. He felt like someone had clubbed his brain. A while passed before he recovered.

This was the flaw of Turles's Pseudo-Ultra Instinct. Though relying on his superhuman mental power to manifest various data concretely in his mental world, this data was too massive—especially during combat.

Each data change required Turles to continuously recalculate and correct—all requiring his mental power for support. So each use placed tremendous pressure on Turles's spirit. Not only couldn't he maintain it long, but each usage had side effects.

However, this Pseudo-Ultra Instinct usage had brought Turles tremendous surprise. He hadn't expected this single technique would allow him—with merely 100,000 battle power—to handle Broly's 10,000,000. Though Broly's state then couldn't fully utilize that power level, and he couldn't persist long himself, this remained a huge amplification for Turles.

Moreover, the "mechanical rationality"-like thinking mode under Pseudo-Ultra Instinct let him discover details difficult to notice in normal states. This was also a hidden improvement to his future combat experience.

"Just these side effects are a bit much!"

Sitting in his chair, Turles rubbed his head while contemplating how to resolve Pseudo-Ultra Instinct's side effects.
