"Why does this novel only have six readers?"
Robert lay his body on the bed after sitting for almost 20 minutes to read five new chapters of the novel The False Hero: Rise of Forseken. It was a novel he had followed for the past year.
And it was one of his favorite novels, but unfortunately the novel only had six active readers.
"I know the author made some mistakes and was not consistent in some parts, but in terms of story, this novel is truly interesting."
Robert lifted his phone. He looked at the cover of the novel. It showed an image of a man with a sword surrounded by beautiful women. Seeing that, Robert let out a very long sigh.
Robert was twenty eight years old, yet still not married. His life was also not doing well. He worked almost all day, but it was not enough to cover all his needs because he had to pay the debt of his father, which was still piling up. His father's debt still had one million dollars left, and the interest kept increasing every month.
Robert closed his eyes. "Living in a novel world sounds nice. Becoming someone who is recognized, appreciated, getting lots of attention, and being surrounded by beautiful women. If only my life was like that, maybe I would not be this stressed."
He stared at the ceiling of his poorly maintained apartment. Robert drifted into a long daydream. Until finally, he got up. He sat while watching funny videos on social media. Sometimes he laughed. It slightly eased the sadness of his miserable life.
"Truly stupid," Robert said while watching a funny video on his phone.
He shook his head in disbelief at people acting silly on social media. Robert finally turned off his phone. He wanted to stand and go to the kitchen to get some food, but suddenly his apartment door made a sound. He looked toward it.
"Who is it?" said Robert.
There was no answer at all. Robert frowned. He walked toward the door. He peeked through the small gap of the door, but he saw nothing in front of it. This made Robert feel strange. He held the doorknob. He wanted to open the door, but he hesitated.
It was almost midnight. "Who is it?" Robert shouted again.
Visiting at midnight? That was very suspicious, but after he remembered again, he did make an appointment with his friend today. Although, it should have been around nine earlier. But maybe his friend came late. Robert opened the door, wanting to scold his friend. But something strange happened.
