Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

Alicia's POV

I sighed in relief. It was that time of the year for an annual leave, and even when I loved the

idea, having the same idea of me going on a date with the mysterious man mom had found

gave me the ick.

"You can do this. It's just one date, and besides, you can always leave when you don't like the

person. Mother has given you the freedom to do what you want after the date…" I talked to

myself, trying my best to stay calm. My heart drummed, and I smiled happily.

It was all perfect for me. By the time I got to my luxurious home, I immediately prepared to head

out for the date since it was almost time.

I got dressed, and headed out, feeling good everything was working out just the way I wanted it.

A week of rest, and a day to ditch the man I was going on a date with.

I arrived at the venue, my glasses on. I had dressed in a fine gown, not too much to impress,

but enough to like good

My aura gave out positively, and I walked with confidence, going to the table my mother had set

for us.

"Well I guess he's not here yet…" I said, taking my seat as I brought out my phone. After a

while, I started to scroll, and got lost on my screen.

A few minutes later, someone approached me. I thought it was the waiter, but then raising my

head caused me to widen my eyes.

Before I came on the date, my mother had filled me with some intel about the person, but I was

kind of worried and shocked.

"Bryan?" I called, standing up as I watched the hand he stretched towards me with a bit of

contempt in my eyes.

"Yes it's me. Do I know you?" He asked, and I immediately nodded.

"Yes you do."

He shook his head. "You must be mistaken. This is the first time we've actually met. I'm Bryan

just as you have said, and I'm guessing you must be my Date for tonight?"

I gasped, everything still felt unreal. He was the butler I met at the bar some years ago, and now

he was the CEO? He didn't even change a bit, having the demure that could throw any woman

off her feet.

"Yes I am your date, but you must recall me. I was the lady you saved from commuting suicide

some years ago. Do you recall me now?" I asked, but explained further. "You took me to your

room, and helped me with $30."

"Oh… oh…" realization set in and he smiled. "Yes, I recall now. Please forgive my manners…"

he gestured with a smile, "but it's nice to see you again…"

He nodded, taking a seat. However, there was something else on my mind.

"But how? Did you actually lie to me? You said you were a bartender, but now, I was told you're

the CEO of JJ accessories. What exactly is–"

"Oh that…" he itched his head, and gave a small laugh. "Maybe there was a mistake. I'm a

bartender as you've known for years."

Not wanting to think much about it, I laughed it off, and tried to enjoy the rest of the evening.

At the end of the day, I seemed to have a good time.

"So you're going back to work?" I asked as we both walked out of the restaurant.

"Yeah. I had my friends cover up for me to be here…" he said, and smiled.

I smiled back, waving my hands as I watched him hail a cab. On the other hand, I walked over

to where my car was parked. It seemed the date went smoother than I thought, but then I wasn't

ready to fall in love again, so I guess it was over.

About a week later, I returned to work. I was informed of a case of a child who needed an organ

transplant, and all doctors were in the meeting room to understand the complicated situation at

hand.

"We already told them their child's brain-dead. It wouldn't be bad to take out their child's organ

and give it to the other who requires it urgently. I don't see what's wrong with that," one of the

doctors spoke, resting his back on his seat.

"You should understand that no parent wants to lose their child. I am a mother, and I can proudly

say I would also be hesitant. We should keep pressing."

"Press charges you mean? You're also forgetting that they don't have any time on their side. You

need to understand this, and the moment you do it's when the pressure hits. The child in

question is my patient, and the organ is a match for the child…" another doctor answered, and

the director finally made his presence aware. He smiled, and

The director cleared his throat to get everyone's attention. "We have invited other doctors to

examine the child you all said is brain-dead. Specialist I mean, and we have also made sure

that the other child is checked as well, then maybe we can convince the mother and father. Is

everyone happy now?"

He asked, and silence reigned. However, our line of sight was directed to the door, and I felt my

heart drumming.

My face turned pale, and my slightly widened eyes couldn't leave there.

"Alicia Anderson?!" He called in shock, rushing towards where I stood. His hands held mine,

and I noticed there was pleading in his eyes.

"Alicia I can't believe I found you," he said, holding me tightly. "Im sorry, I'm fucking sorry for how

I… just come home." He ended, staring into my eyes.

Whatever he did caused a scene, and I saw how other doctors whispered to themselves, trying

to figure out what the hell was going on.

"Please Alicia, please come home."
