Chapter 5 - The Manager’s Mission

Luanna's POV:

"Beth, go back to your place and pack your own bag. I can handle this myself. I still need to call a few people. After all, I'm in charge of everything here," I said, pushing her out of the room.

"Alright, alright. Just think about who you're going to invite to the wedding with you," she wiggled her eyebrows while putting on her shoes.

"That wedding is in a few months. Why the rush? Maybe I'll even find a boyfriend by then," I shrugged, unlocking the door.

"You won't, you'll be single your whole life," she laughed. "Although, maybe not."

"So, what do you want from me?" I asked.

"Ask one of our guys," she said innocently.

"Do you really want me to end up with one of them or something?" I frowned.

"Possibly yes, maybe no," she laughed. "Just promise me you'll ask one of them, okay? For me."

"Fine. Whichever one agrees and is free, that's who I'll go with," I sighed.

"Great," she clapped. "Now, can you drive me?"

"Let's go," I said, getting dressed. "Where are we going?" I asked once we were in the car.

"To the guys' house, then Harry and I will come back," she replied and started giving me directions on where to turn.

I pulled into the driveway of a huge house. Beth got out and said goodbye. I didn't worry anymore and drove off to take care of business.

Beth's POV:

I pressed the doorbell, waiting for someone to let me in. Liam quickly opened the door and let me inside. All the guys were watching TV. It turned out Josh and Jake were here too, somehow.

"Guys!" I called out sweetly, so everyone could hear me. They turned to me, confused about what was happening. "We have a serious matter," I began. "Luanna's friend, Jakob—if you remember him—invited her to his wedding on February 10th. She absolutely has to bring a date, and I convinced her to go with one of you. Obviously, not Harry. You need to come up with excuses why you can't go, and Niall will be the only one left. That way, they'll go together. Did everyone understand?"

"Wait," Louis raised his hand. "Wedding, date, excuses why we can't go, Niall and Luanna live happily ever after? Did I get that right?" he asked, and all the guys agreed with him.

"That's exactly the plan. Now, tell me what you have in mind. How will you excuse yourselves?" I urged them to speak.

"I promised to go home? For my sister's birthday?" Liam asked.

"Perfect. Next?"

"I just don't want to. That's my excuse. I can't stand being with her for that long," Josh answered simply.

"Well, alright… Next," Louis wanted to speak, but I interrupted him. "You don't have to worry, she definitely won't go with you."

"Good to know," he muttered.

"Jake?" I turned to him.

"I'm thinking I'm going home because I already have a ticket," he shrugged.

"Remember what you came up with, because she's going to ask you soon," I looked at Niall, who was grinning. Everyone did the same and started laughing.

"What?" the blonde was confused.

"You look like a kid who got candy," Josh snorted.

"No, he's planning how to get that candy," Harry snickered.

"Stop teasing, we all know we have to help him. That's the plan. And that's what friends are for, because he can't ask her himself," I rolled my eyes.

"Hey, it's not that easy," he tried to defend himself. "You two were introduced by her, and you didn't have to do anything."

"That's true," Josh agreed. "You guys didn't do anything because Luanna did it for you."

"That's why we're doing it for them now, duh," I replied.

I felt my phone vibrate, announcing a message. It was from Luanna "Ask if the musicians want a separate bus."

"Josh, do you want a separate bus?" I asked.

"Of course," both of them immediately answered at the same time.

B: "Yes," I replied simply.

L: "Be at the guys' house at 8:00 AM, every single one of you. The buses will arrive, and we can start traveling."

B: "Ok."

"Be here at eight tomorrow, packed up. And tell Eric and Matt not to be late. Are we going?" I asked Harry. He nodded and got up from the sofa.

Luanna's POV:

7:56 AM

"This is the house," I told the bus driver. He stopped by the house on the street, and the other bus stopped behind us. The driver opened the door, and I stood in the doorway. "Can you honk the horn?" I asked, and the driver did so.

After a while, the house door opened, and all the guys came out with Beth, dragging suitcases and backpacks with them. They looked at me and the buses, which made them stop and gape.

"Like it?"

"They're massive!" Harry agreed.

"I know, that's why I ordered them," I wiggled my eyebrows, but then I saw an unfamiliar guy. "Who are you?"

"Matt," he replied.

"Why are you here?" I frowned.

"I play the synthesizer (if you don't know, it's like an electronic piano)," he looked straight into my eyes.

"And why weren't you at the last concert?" I kept questioning.

"Because I was sick," he was a bit scared now.

"Well, fine. I'm Luanna, the manager," he just nodded.

"Do you have to scare them like that every time you meet someone?" Jake asked.

"It's not my fault they're such cowards," I snorted.

"I'm not a coward," Eric defended himself.

"What did you say?" I quickly turned to him, and his look was full of fear.

"I'm sure you guys are cowards," Louis laughed.

"You're not much better," I grumbled. "So, are you getting on or not?" and they all started walking closer. "That bus is for the musicians, and this one is for me and Beth," I said.

"And us?" Liam asked.

"You can sit on the roof," I laughed, and Beth climbed inside.

"Are you serious?" Harry frowned.

"Yes, I'm kidding. Get inside quickly, and we'll go," I commanded, and they did so.

"Wow," that's all everyone said.

"I know, I know, I'm amazing. You should be thanking me," I laughed.

"Thank you!" they shouted.

"You're welcome," I turned to the driver. "Can we go?" He nodded and started the engine, beginning to drive.

The guys collapsed onto the sofas, throwing their bags into one corner.

"I'm so glad you're our manager," Liam said, leaning back into the soft sofa, completely sprawling out there.

"Me too," I replied, sitting down. "Finally, I'll have something to do."

"What?" they were confused.

"Well, I didn't have much work with the hotels after about a year, so you guys keep me busy. And you'll have free accommodation during the tour. So, everyone wins," I explained.

"So we're your hobby?" Harry asked.

"I don't think so... although maybe? Yes. What's your hobby? The One Direction career," I started roaring with laughter at myself. Beth joined me, but the guys didn't find it funny.

"Ha ha ha," Louis pretended to laugh.

"Shut up, Tomlinson. Nobody asked you," I said more angrily.

"Alright. So, where are we going?" Niall asked.

"To Manchester," I replied.

"Why do I have a bad feeling? What's going on there besides the concert?" he frowned.

"Oh, nothing," I smiled innocently. "We're going friend hunting."
