Chapter 4 - Secrets and Surprises

"Explain yourself," Beth hissed when we both entered the restroom.

"Nothing to explain," I shrugged and started fixing my hair.

"What is wrong with you? What record? Why did you never tell me about it?" she complained while fixing her makeup.

"Records," I muttered.

"I didn't hear you?"

"Two records," I clarified.

"How many?!" her eyes widened.

"Two. Beth, calm down, what's wrong with you?" I rolled my eyes.

"What's wrong with me? We're best friends, and I never heard that you achieved some records in Ohio," she stated.

"Because it's not important. Besides, how do you think I became so famous there?" I chuckled.

"Well, fine. So, can you tell me what they are?"

"I'm not entirely sure," I pondered, trying to remember.

"Don't lie, just tell me," she urged.

"Why do you care so much? I really don't want to talk about it, you know," I sighed.

"And why would Luanna waste a minute talking about her achievements?" she wondered.

"Because I'm not proud of them anymore, like I used to be. I think it creates a certain opinion about me. A bad opinion," I leaned against the sink.

"I don't think it's that bad. Just tell me," she encouraged.

"The first one is Most drinks consumed. The second one is Most people kissed."

"In one night or over a week?" she asked.

"Well, I don't know that part," I giggled. "But it's still weird that someone was counting."

"I agree. Come on, let's go, they'll miss us soon," she started pulling me away.

At the table, the guys were waiting, staring straight into my eyes.

"Um... What is it?" I shifted in my seat uncomfortably.

"Tell us," Josh said seriously.

"I don't understand?" I frowned.

"You can't hide anything. Tell us what the secret is," Liam spoke for him.

"There is no secret," I said, feigning a laugh.

"Oh yeah? Then why did you go to the restroom together and take so long?" Harry squinted.

"Maybe because we both needed the restroom and took longer to take care of business that you don't want to hear about," Beth and I looked at him angrily.

"What kind of business?" Louis frowned.

"It involves blood," Beth added, catching on to what I was hinting at.

"Maybe we should go now?" The guys sat up normally and started pretending nothing happened.

Beth and I subtly high-fived and grabbed our jackets. Everyone got ready and dressed, and we walked outside.

"My hands are going to freeze soon," I shivered in the cold air.

"Here," Niall said, pulling gloves from his pocket and handing them to me.

"You're a god!" I screamed and immediately put them on. Of course, they were huge on me, but I wasn't complaining.

"No, I'm a god," Beth said, putting a hat on me and laughing.

"Where did you pull that from?" I was surprised.

"From my purse," she laughed.

"Trust me, you can find anything in there," Harry confirmed.

"Were you rummaging through my bag?" Beth frowned.

"That time you told me to take something out of it," he justified himself, as we all laughed.

"Where are we even going?" I asked.

"I don't know. We're going to the house where the three of us mainly live, but Harry has a room there too," Niall said.

"I thought we were going to my and Beth's apartment," Harry said.

"I'm going to my place," Jake said.

"Me too," Josh laughed.

"Harry, you go with Niall and the others, because Beth is coming with me to my place. You guys pack up and get ready, because we're leaving the day after tomorrow at 7:00 AM," I announced.

"What do you mean?" he frowned.

"You're left out in the cold today, and I'm stealing your girlfriend," I laughed and started pulling her toward another street leading to my house. I heard someone mutter, "I'll never understand them." Beth and I just laughed and kept walking.

"You got away with it that time," Beth laughed.

"Don't say that, I'm a perfect liar," I chuckled.

"Born for it," she laughed. "So, what did you do in those two years? I know you opened hotels, but still. Did you find a friend? A boyfriend? A husband?" she questioned.

"No, I didn't find one. Still single as always," I replied.

"So, maybe someone from the band? Josh? Liam? Niall?" she persisted.

"Look, if I need a boyfriend, I'll find one. I'm not rushing anything," I laughed.

"Still, at least one of them has to appeal to you, even just a little. At least be handsome," she whined.

"Definitely not Josh. We'd drive each other crazy and annoy each other to death," I laughed. "Or Liam, for example. I don't know, Liam is not my type."

"So, that leaves Niall," she wiggled her eyebrows. "Do you like him?" she grinned strangely.

"No, oh my god, certainly not," I snorted. "But he's the best-looking and best choice among those idiots."

"No, I'm convinced you like him," she teased.

"You know perfectly well that I don't like him," I laughed and started looking for my keys after entering my yard.

"This is your house?" Beth was surprised.

"Yes, why?"

"It's perfect," she stared.

"I know, that's why I built it," I laughed.

"This is the kitchen, that's the living room," I showed as we walked. "The bathroom is there, and you'll find everything else if you really need to," I laughed after entering the kitchen.

"Got it," Beth laughed, sitting down on a chair by the table.

"So, what would you like?" I asked.

"What do you offer?" she smiled.

"Whatever you can find," I said, and fully opened the refrigerator for her, showing its contents.

"You have a separate shelf for alcohol?" she snorted.

"Who do you think holds the record for the most drunk?" we started laughing.

"Pour me some of that. I don't know what it is, but I like the green color," she giggled, pointing a finger at one bottle.

"I don't even know what this is," I laughed.

I poured us both a little, and thus began our party for two.

I was woken up by my phone ringing.

L: "Hello?" I answered with a rasping voice.

Li: "Luanna, sweetie, we're coming over. We'll be quick," the girl said.

L: "Lilah, why are you always able to wake me up?" I grumbled.

Li: "Because that's what I'm for. By the way, Jakob and I are coming over in five minutes with serious news. Please be dressed, or at least be dressed."

L: "Is it okay if my friend is here?" I asked, kicking Beth and waking her up. She shrieked.

Li: "We won't be long. Ciao," and she immediately ended the conversation before I could even say goodbye.

"Hurry up, we need to tidy up, Lilah is coming," I urged the blonde, who was slowly getting up from the floor where pillows and blankets were strewn.

"Who is Lilah?" Beth mumbled, frowning and messy-haired.

"Jakob's girlfriend, and they're both coming, so please comb your hair, because you look awful," I asked.

"Wow, how friendly we are," she muttered and went to the bathroom to get ready while I went to the other one.

I quickly brushed my hair and wiped off the makeup left from last night. I washed my face with cold water to wake up a bit. I got dressed, and just then, I heard the doorbell ring. Then it rang again. And again.

"I'm coming in a second!" I yelled, running down the stairs. The bell still wouldn't stop ringing through the house.

"Stop that ringing, she's coming right now!" Beth yelled even louder than me. At least that helped.

I ran to the door and opened it, finding Lilah and Jakob, who were standing by the button with a grin.

"Well, hello, hello," I smiled and hugged both of them. Beth came downstairs, greeted them, and introduced herself. "So, what's the news?"

"Well, we're inviting you to our wedding!" Lilah shrieked and handed me an envelope.

"What?! Already?! That's awesome!" we started jumping together, while Beth and Jakob just stood there.

"It's happening on February 10th, and everything else is written in the letter," she said, calming down.

"Why February? Not some spring or summer month?" I inquired.

"Because she doesn't want to walk down the aisle with a huge belly," Jakob smirked.

"What?!" I shrieked. "Swear that I'll be the godmother!"

"Okay, okay, I swear," he raised his hands as if surrendering.

"Well, we have to go, but remember the most important thing," Lilah wagged her finger. "You must come with a plus one. And no ifs, and, or buts!"
