Ash slowly opened his eyes as the sun light shone through the window , the beeping sound of the alarm clock next to him telling him it was time to walk up .
He reached out his hand and turned it off . he sat up from his bed and yawned before rubbing his eyes .
' What time is it ? ' he thought as he looked at his alarm clock , it said 06:00 .
He rubbed his face before stretching a bit . He then removed the sheets before he got out of bed.
' we'll today's the day ' he thought as he walked over and opened his window .
Today was the day he would a pokemon trainer
' years of studying and preparing for this day' he said as made his way to the stairs . He had planned for this day , and now it was time to put everything he learned to use .

He walked down stairs and looked around , his mum was making breakfast while a news broadcast was playing on TV .
" Morning " he told to her as he made his way past her .
" morning ash ! did you sleep well ? Breakfast will be ready in just a few minutes " she said looking at him with a smile .
" yeah I slept well " ash said as he grabbed the remote on the sofa and made his way back to the table just as his mum gave him his breakfast .
He sat down before changing the channel to something else.
The channel changed to a pokemon battle that was being shown last night, he couldn't finish watching it because he had to go to sleep early for his journey.
" and James's Arcanine finishes off ray's volcarona with a well placed extreme speed , leaving ray with only one pokemon left "
Ash remembered this fight and unfortunately how it got to this point.
" That's what happened when your too overconfident about how rare your pokemon is " ash scoffed , " he only relied on quiver dance , which was smart but useless when you don't have any way to profit from that setup " .
Delia only smiled at her son , always calling any mistakes in any pokemon battle he saw .
' at least teach it baton pass ' ash just sighed as he continued eating his breakfast . ' and Arcanine has barely taken any damage'.
" and ray calls out his next pokemon which is feraligatr ! will this be enough take down Arcanine and win him the match ? "
"With the many mistakes he's made ? Not a chance " ash said now done eating.
He stood up to and went to put his bowl in the sink . Honestly it was hard to find good pokemon battle these days with how much mistakes poeple make in battles.
When regional tournaments happen , most of the times he skips the first few rounds until things get interesting .
He made his way to the couch grabbing the remote on his way to watch the rest of the match .
It looked like the Arcanine had landed a thunder fang , and paralyzed the feraligatr in the process.
" it looks like feraligatr is in a bit of trouble , is this the end for ray ? "
" Arcanine somehow looks more healthy than when he was facing volcarona ! I can't watch this anymore I'm changing the channel ! " he couldn't believe that even when he had 2 more pokemon left than his opponent , ray was still losing.
Losing his patience , he changed the channel so he didn't have to watch that anymore.
" - police have reported that the infamous poaching group known as the dark foot has been stopped by the international police assisted by gym leader clair of johto , this group has been known for beaking in places such as safari zones and even mount silver to steal rare pokemon and sell them them to the highest bidder . Unknown Sounces say they have even contacted some members of the pokemon league and others of high positions in governments like elite fours and frontier brains but proof for this has not been brought to light and will remain as speculations until then . Ash stopped paying attention after that . It was momments like these that he was glad most trainers today had to at least be in there teens to be a trainer.
It all started when a boy named goh was reported missing by his Parents. The last time they heard of him was when he told his mum he saw mew . His mum not believing what he was saying told him she was busy doing the dishes but when she was done she couldn't find him anywhere. She called his name several times and even asked for help from the police but they never found him only one of his shoes .
From that point , the league made it mandatory so that almost every trainer was prepared for there journeys , or at least get a pokemon to take care off as a trainee . if one kid can get lost straight from his home than who knows what could happen when they are in the wild by themselves.
Luckily ash passed the test you needed to get a trainers license for so he was good .
' and I'm not ending up like him or ray . It doesn't matter which starter i get , nothing is stopping me ' he thought.
He then switched off the TV to go prepare his things and take a bath .

Ash walked as he made his way to the professor oaks lab .
He had everything with him , sleeping bags , healing items , flashlight , rotom phone and more , he was more then ready .
He had to be .
To become a pokemon trainer , you needed to pass a test .
others around kanto had also passed the test to become pokemon trainers but ash and gary are the only one's in pallet town to get regonal starters .
Everyone else who took the test mostly got normal pokemon like meowth's , rattata's or Nidoran depending on how well they do in the test
" Hey ash ! " a voice called out to him .
He looked at the owner of the voice and saw it was trace .
"Hey trace ! " ash replied back as he continued to walk . ' that guy is always studying . He is the only guy in town that deserves a regional starter in my opinion , unfortunately he decided to wait 2 more years before he starts his journey.'
Not everyone becomes a trainer the moment they can , some people just wait a few years - months or however long they want .
He was brought out of his thoughts as he arrived at the lab .
"Well this is it " he said as looked at the building I'm front of him . He took a few deep breaths before he walked foward and entered the building .

Ash had gone to professor oaks lab a bunch of times but seeing it in it's full glory as he stepped in never gets old .
He started to make his way past the researchers and to the area where the starters were given .
As he walked through the lab ,he could see numerous scientists working on different projects.
" we still don't know why some pokemon sometimes have alternate colours then shinies , further research is being-"
" the imagines are blurry,but we can narrow down the pokemons location to-"
" different levels of food and enemies can take effects on a pokemons evolution or type in a new region but we still don't know about if anything else can-"
Ash could see it was very busy and didn't even try to stop and talk , he was just here to get his starter .
It wasn't long until he arrived where Professor oak was waiting for him with three pokeball laid out across the table.
" morning professor , sorry if I'm late " ash greeted him .
" not to worry ash your right on time " professor oak just dismissed his worries.
Ash sighed in relief.
" I thought you wouldn't arrive ashy-boy " a familiar voice said behind him .
Recognizing the voice, ash turned around to see his childhood rival gary standing there with a grin on his face .
They have preparing to be the best trainers since they were children . Gary had always been arrogant because of being the grandson of the most well-known professor in the world .
But when ash started to surpass him , he then started to take things seriously and the two of them had been trying to surpass each other ever since .
" gary arrived here just before you did , now that your both here you can choose your starters " the professor said , looking at the two glaring at each other.
Ash looked away from gary and turned to the starters pokeballs on the table .
They all had stickers on them , one of the few ways people tell some pokeballs apart .
' so this is it , the momment we have both been waiting for . Our starters for the future are based on the choice we make right now ' ash thought .
Even gary had lost his joking grin on his face and now had serious expression.
" so which one of you is going to choose first ? " oak asked them . He stood there watching calmly , waiting for them to make a choice .
" I'll go first , I've already decided which starter i want " gary spoke up after a few seconds.
He walked foward to the three pokeballs on the table before picking the one with the leaf sticker on it without hesitation.
" with bulbasaur , the first two gyms will a walk in the park and by the time i reach sabrina and blame ill already have a full team for it to be a problem . Venasaur is also a tank with healing , status conditions and set ups ,so I'll be ok " he said looking at the pokeball. The perfect starter for the future champion of kanto .
Professor oak smiled and gave gary his pokeballs while ash walked over to the to the two remaining starters.
He had been thinking about this for years , the pros and cons about each one of them . Not just on logic , but for him personally.
They were all good in there own way and while this was difficult at first , now it was time to choose.
" so ash , have you made your choice ? " professor oak asked him after giving gary his things .
" Yes " ash answered with firm look , before he reached out his hand and grabbed the one with the water sticker .
" I choose Squitle " he said holding the pokeball in his hand .
' it's defense will be great for hard hitters , alongside moves like dragon pulse and flash canon makes him a tank . Also i heard charizards can be difficult to raise , combined with the fact that they can die if the flame on their tails go out , I'm sticking with squirtle. Bulbasaus line are just as good but I don't know about raising the plant on it's back . but honestly blastoise just looks look , two canons on its back and that shell ? ' ash wasn't fooling anyone trying to decide on the best logical starter , any good pokemon trainer in his opinion should know that between weak pokemon and strong pokemon , it shouldn't matter that much if you have enough skill .
Professor oak smiled at him before walking over and giving him several pokeballs.
" both of you have lots of potential , what kind of trainers you decide to become will shape your future. And the way you raise your pokemon will show how cable you are as a trainer " professor said seriously looking at the two .
' This is it , no more being stuck in gramps shadow , from now on I'll be the one people talk about whenever people talk about pallet town ' gary thought determinedly.
' finally ! It's time for me to go out there and put everything I've learned to the test . I won't rest until i prove my dad wrong and become one of the strongest trainers in the world ' ash was not going to make all those years of studying and planing go to waste.
" we wont let you down professor " he said in a determined expression.
" yeah don't worry gramps , You have nothing to worry about . I'll be back with that league trophy before you know it " gary declared nonchalantly as made his way outside.
Ash just rolled his eyes at him before looking back at the professor.
" you won't regret this professor , we'll make sure of that " ash said before turning around to leave as well .
" I know you wont " oak thought.
As ash and gary left the lab , ash looked at his pokeball with a smile .
" this is it , the start of everything we have been studying for since we were kids " ash said softly.
His eyes still on the red and white sphere in his hands .
" yeah from now on we'll be the ones on tv . And I'm making it all the way to the finals , so there really no reason for you to be there ash" gary said the last part in a smug tone .
" you wish , I'm not gonna make it that easy for you " ash just scoffed at him . Gary would never stop being full of himself.
" i dont care if its easy or not , no one is stopping me from winning the league . so if you want to beat me , your just gonna have to reach the finals or hope you get to face me earlier " after that gary turned around and left .
' we'll see about that ' ash thought before walking off to say good bye to his mum .

" Are you sure you've got everything ? I Don't won't anything bad to happen to you " delia said in a worried tone .
She was always worried for him over everything.
"I'll be fine mum I have squirtle , even if something goes wrong I'll just call you or the professor" ash assured her .
" be safe , take care of squirtle and call everytime you get to a poke-center ok ? "
" yeah i will , gotta go now bye " ash hugged her as he said goodbye before leaving .
" love you " she shouted , She was sad at seeing him leave .
But she knew he would do great things in on his journey.
