Chapter 1 - Squirrel Man

They say that a great squirrel will someday be born. He will be the one to restore the squirrel clan to greatness. ~ The Squirrel Bible.

Almond sat in a tree, trying to take in the situation. Just a few hours ago, he had woken up in the body of a squirrel-man.

At first, he refused to believe it.

How the fuck can I become a squirrel? I even have a tail!

Then the memories flooded in, and he realised it was all true.

He was in the world of Hybridia, where only animal hybrids existed.

What made it even worse was the fact that he had transmigrated into the body of a young man belonging to one of the weakest hybrids of all. The Squirrels.

From his memories, and reading from the Squirrel Bible, he was able to gather an understanding of his circumstances.

The Squirrels were a non-combatant class, who dedicated most of their time and efforts to farming and wood harvesting. They answered to the rest of the Rodent Kingdom and held no political powers themselves.

Could my transmigration be any worse? My memory tells me that bear and lion hybrids exist, yet I got one of the weakest ones...

Not to mention, I'm already eighteen years old and haven't awakened yet.

This wasn't entirely uncommon.

Squirrels were always late to awaken, and even when they did, they were stuck in the Copper stages of the power ranking.

The clan had only ever produced a handful of squirrels who had reached the silver stage, and even those were considered miracles.

Almond let out a great sigh as he stared off into the distance.

He watched the village below him booming with activity. Houses were beautifully crafted from wood, and through the dirt-paved streets, he saw various men and women of all sizes travelling with tails wagging behind them.

It was so much to take in.

Somewhere down there was his home. His parents had long since died in a Rat Invasion, and ever since he had lived with his friend, Cory.

A hybrid world... Transmigration... Who would have thought that such things could exi—

Almond's words were cut off, as he suddenly felt a strange sensation in his stomach. He focused on the feeling, and eventually, a series of noises pinged in his head.

Almond sat there, frozen.

He had awakened. He was certain of this.

However, based on his memories, this was no standard awakening.

"Oh shit. These talents, they don't make any sense?"

It was a known fact that the squirrel clan did not awaken abilities related to combat magic, and yet he had awakened S-tier manipulation of the magical essence.

He was left in a state of disbelief.

It seems to be thanks to my talent awakening efficiency talent, gifted to me by my Reincarnated One title.

All of a sudden, his transmigration didn't seem so bad.

"With this, can't I make a change to the squirrel clan?"

Wasting no time, he rose to his feet and stretched his limbs. His body felt new and powerful, thanks to his hyper-agility.

To test this, he leapt from the tree, landing on the branch of another ten meters away. It wasn't the furthest jump, but it was many times greater than what he could achieve on earth.

With his right foot, he pushed off that branch, propelling himself towards another, then another, until he was practically gliding over the village of Nutheart.

Then a branch snapped.

Moments later, Almond was cursing to himself as he fell through the air. He crashed through the roof of a house below, before hitting something hard.

The wind was knocked from his lungs leaving him weasy, which was followed by a scream nearby.

Almond managed to look up and found himself in a room.

A bathroom.

To his side, he found a woman lying in a bath of water, stark naked. She tried to cover her naked body with her hands, but they were too large for her to do a very good job.

The fat of her breasts spilt through her fingers, and Almond found himself staring.

"AHHH! A creep!" The woman screamed, plunging herself back under the water to hide herself. "A creep has broken into our house!"

"W-wait no, it's not what it looks like!" Almond pleaded. "I was testing out my agility talent, and accidentally fell through the roof."

Only after speaking the words did he realise how stupid he sounded.

"Agility talent? Liar! Nobody awakens those in the squirrel clan." The woman retorted, still half underwater.

Almond was left stunned. She was right after all. She was aware of who Almond was.

"You've got it all wrong. I'm a reincarnator, I managed to awaken a—"

THUD!

A powerful strike landed on the back of Almond's head, leaving him unconscious.

The woman in the bath looked up to find a man with a long brown tail, brown ears that stuck up, dressed in black robes. On his waist was a wooden katana, and his face seemed cold.

His right hand was steaming from where he chopped the young intruder in the head.

"Sorry, Lady Joshi." The man said, bowing his head deeply. "We will handle this intruding disciple with utmost ferocity."

Lady Joshi looked up from her bath with blushed cheeks. She recognised who the man was in an instant.

"Master Acorn! T-thank you..." She found herself no longer trying to cover her breasts. Instead, she wanted to slyly show them to the master.

But Master Acorn wasn't paying attention. He grabbed Almond by the neck and dragged him outside the modest wooden house.

"Alright, young disciple. Let's lock you up and figure out how on earth you earned those talents."
