His companions' gazes became glassy. Soaked in a bloody rain, they stood like risen corpses, there to see the world in their lifeless faces.
Only one of them stood there, swaying on the spot, trying to figure out how to save not only himself but also the others. Asan didn't know why he simply didn't run to the warehouses alone and leave the rest behind. His heart was slowing down due to the gradual deterioration of his body's condition. He felt an increasing chill. Soon his eyes would go blank if he did nothing. But what could he do?
The first idea that could help him immediately came to mind. Looking at the crowd of monsters rapidly approaching the group, he clenched his teeth and turned away. With quick steps, he reached the blinded nurse.
"Bridgite! Can you hear me?! Answer me!" the boy shouted, grabbing the girl by the shoulders.
She sat there, bloodied, with her head bowed down on her knees. For some reason, she completely ignored Asan's actions.
Therefore, he had to resort to extreme measures. Sending a stream of energy into his palms, with which he was holding the girl by the shoulders, his palms burst into black flames. The girl's glassy blue eyes regained their life color, and her mouth opened.
"Ah-Ah-Ugh!" She cried out, pulling away from Asan. Her chest rapidly rose and fell, greedily taking in the missing air.
Asan saw confusion and incomprehension on her face, not understanding what had just happened. Where he had touched her, her light sweater was burned through. Her skin now bore severe burns that constantly caused unpleasant sensations.
"What? What is this? Where am I?" The girl began to panic, speaking, but Asan decided to quickly bring her back to her senses with a slap. Finally, she focused her attention on him.
"A-Asan?" She asked uncertainly, noticing the dead look in the boy's eyes.
This caused even greater panic and confusion on her face, but at the same time, she realized that the situation was serious.
"Bridgite! What will help us now?! I took drugs from the warehouse, right?! I feel like my brain is shutting down, I can barely speak?! Do you understand me?" — Asan forced out the words, blood streaming from his nose, or was it a bloody rain.
"Drugs... Brain shutdown... I... I know!" — The girl cried out, getting to her feet.
Finally, Asan saw a chance thanks to which he and the others could survive. He managed to get to his feet, feeling that his consciousness might fade out at any second.
"Pervitin! It will speed up neuron activity and enhance brain function. But... The consequences..." — The girl spoke hesitantly, but Asan no longer needed any more words.
Reaching into the spatial pocket in his hand, one syringe and a multitude of vials with unknown contents appeared, some of which could not fit in his hand and fell onto the blood-soaked ground. The wind howled terribly, like an animal roaring in pain, creating terrifying sounds.
"How do I use this?!" the boy shouted, still conscious.
"I… I'm not sure that this—" the girl began to say, but met Asan's frantic gaze, which cared about nothing except survival.
"Do it! Now! Inject me with this crap, then do it for the others! We don't have time!" the boy said, inadvertently dropping almost all the vials of methamphetamine onto the ground, leaving only one along with the syringe. Among the vials were also methamphetamine tablets.
The girl's heart raced with anxiety.
She knew about drugs firsthand. Seeing something like this was a terrible memory from her past that she never wanted to revisit, but there was no time. She took the ampoule and syringe with trembling hands. After inserting the ampoule into the syringe, the girl took Asan's hand with no resistance at all and quickly found his vein. She hesitated for a few seconds, but seeing the almost glassy look in the boy's eyes, she injected the syringe. A few seconds later, Asan fell to the ground.
The girl began pushing him while in terrifying panic. Tears mixed with bloody raindrops fell from her eyes, but soon she noticed movement. The guy literally sprang to his feet. His blood vessels had burst, and his face showed no emotion. He looked at her blankly from below and spoke.
"Fix the others, I'll buy us some time" said a voice full of vigor.
Asan felt strange.
His body was brimming with energy, and his mind worked incredibly fast, analyzing everything around him. His sense of smell returned, along with the feeling of everything around him, no... Even more than that. He felt everything, understanding what he needed to do. Reaching for his backpack, he quickly pulled out a hammer and removed it from himself. In his left hand, he manifested a knife from his inventory and took slow steps towards Ronnie.
"I feel everything... The blood in my veins is boiling... What's happening to me?" he said in a relaxed and calm voice.
It became much easier for him, but even more importantly – strength. He didn't understand what was happening to him because of the incredible lightness of his body, but he quickly got used to this sensation. Finally, Ronnie were five meters away from him, noticing the boy.
Quickly analyzing how they looked, Asan understood that they were most likely also under the effect of the rain, since they moved absolutely uncertainly, trying to keep their balance. A smile appeared on the boy's face by itself. This feeling of complete control over the situation, when he realized that he could overcome so many opponents.
It intoxicated his excited mind.
A warm sensation of pleasure seized his chest, literally spreading through his veins. Tightening his grip on his hammer and knife, he was the first to attack the creature in front of him. It didn't even have time to react before the blunt side of the hammer hit its head. Although the sounds of the rain drowned out almost everything, Asan clearly heard the crunch. Without hesitation, he ducked and plunged the knife into the creature's chest, sharply pulling it downward. White liquid, along with the creature's Ronnie's innards, gushed out of its chest and stomach right onto the boy's body.
But this filth did not stay on his body for long, being washed away by the blood falling from the sky.
The victory notification immediately came to the guy through the system, but he didn't pay attention to it. The other creatures had already noticed him. Despite the fact that they were under the effect of the rain, they still brimmed with enormous amounts of power that Asan had forgotten about. But since his reaction was at its peak due to the effects of the drug, he quickly reacted to the creature's sweeping attack, partially blocking it with his hammer and knife. The boy was thrown back a meter, feeling intense pain in his hands. It cannot be forgotten that the creatures are also incredibly strong, and without proper support, you will fly like a football.
"Kha!" A clot of blood burst from Asan's mouth, quickly washing away. Without wasting time, he got back on his feet, feeling pain throughout his entire body. Firmly gripping the hammer and knife once more, he went on the counterattack.
But another creature blocked his path, already raising its fist for an attack. From behind, Asan felt someone trying to jump on him, but what was most terrible... Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed part of Ronnie heading towards the inhabitants in the camp.
"NO!" The boy shouted and suddenly lunged to the left, avoiding two attacks at once. He quickly changed direction and began running toward the Ronnie that were approaching the "empty" people. Fury was rising in his heart. How dare they resort to such a dirty trick?! He would kill them, each one of them. Channeling all his explosive power into his legs, he covered about 15 meters in seconds, literally throwing himself at the Ronnie that was leading the group. That one couldn't stand firm and was knocked down by Asan. Gripping the hammer tightly, Asan raised it above his head and struck the creature's head with all his might.
Her brains and skull pieces flew apart in seconds, drenching the surrounding grass with white, foul-smelling liquid. Asan felt intense pain in the hand holding the hammer, and clouds of steam were escaping from his mouth. But strength was still boiling within him. He stood up with a grinding of teeth and turned around. Now all the creatures had their attention on him. Acting like an animal, Asan slightly bent forward, raising the hammer over his shoulder, preparing for another leap forward. As if driven by instincts, Ronnie stopped, sensing the threat from the crazed boy.
Asan immediately went on the attack. In front of him were three Ronnie. In an instant, his mind devised a plan to kill each one of them. Again, he gathered all his raging, hurricane-like strength into his legs and made a leap forward, feeling the pain in his legs become unbearable.
Maybe he had torn the muscles in his legs, but he didn't care. Like an arrow, he flew forward. He slowed down when he struck the first Ronnie with the hammer. The hammer finally couldn't withstand such strain and bent after splitting the creature's skull. Asan, without hesitation, threw it from his hand, summoning another knife. Immediately, he used it, plunging it into the neck of one of the nearest creatures. Pulling it sideways with all his strength, he almost completely severed the creature's head from its body, but even that was enough for the notification of a kill to appear.
Unfortunately, the last Ronnie was faster and hit Asan in the stomach with a punch. Blood mixed with saliva immediately spewed out of Asan's mouth as he once again flew to the side. Pain. The pain was unbearable. He felt how the tendons in his arm, which held the hammer, were torn.
His legs barely obeyed him, and his breath was short. strength was slowly leaving his body, as the effect of the pervitin was almost over. Fear. The fear of death once again enveloped the young man, replacing all the adrenaline, but... But this time he was determined to fight until the end. Experiencing near agony, he forced himself to lift his body onto his feet, constantly coughing up blood. His skin noticeably paled, and dark circles appeared under his eyes.
But he stood up, stood on his feet. His ribs were cracked, one hand possibly broken, and the muscles in his legs torn, but he was standing. Asan's pain-filled gaze fell upon the approaching Ronnie. Raising the knife in his still-functioning hand in front of him, he prepared for battle. If necessary, he would use dark magic to cover his entire body, letting the creature feast on poisoned flesh. That was his thought.
But his attention was drawn to the approaching silhouette of a person he knew.
"Get this scum!" He heard Laszlo's cry, which knocked the creature to the ground with an attack from the side.
Asan and Laszlo exchanged glances. Laszlo silently nodded at him, and Asan smiled. Finally.
Finally, he could rest.
