Inside the vast, empty hall of the castle,
Yuuki and the others had already left, leaving only Licht, Vitt, Fana, and Rhya standing atop the stone pillars.
Licht's golden eyes glinted with a faint smile as he looked at Rhya and spoke gently:
"How is it?"
"Hah."
Rhya rubbed her black-and-white hair, yawning lazily as she said with mild exasperation:
"That boy didn't lie."
Licht chuckled softly.
If Yuuki were here, hearing this exchange, he would probably laugh. Of course he hadn't lied — he had merely concealed part of his magical abilities.
"Giving you trouble again, Licht. But honestly, you don't need to be so careful,"
Rhya stretched and spoke quietly.
"Indeed. With our strength, there's no need to fear those Magic Knight captains."
Vitt cracked his neck with a rough creak, a disdainful smirk on his rugged face.
"The royal family and nobility of the Clover Kingdom aren't the weak humans they were five hundred years ago. They've stolen our power and grown far too strong."
"And the Magic Emperor's power… even after all my secret observations, I still don't know the full extent of his abilities,"
Licht shook his head gently, his expression turning serious.
"No matter what, we must be fully prepared. That Yuuki possesses magic similar to yours. Even if something goes wrong, Rhya could use his body to reincarnate again."
Licht then looked at Vitt and Fana, a hint of apology on his face:
"Unfortunately, despite searching for so long, we haven't found other bodies compatible with your souls."
"Sally's research on cloning technology isn't yet mature. We don't know if it'll even be usable when the time comes."
Vitt rose from his stone pillar, swinging his arms with a grin:
"Licht, I have no intention of losing to those humans."
Fana lifted her head slightly, a terrifying surge of magical energy radiating from her:
"All those humans… deserve to die!"
"Don't worry. It won't be long now."
Licht's golden eyes shimmered as he murmured softly to himself.
Suddenly, four incredible surges of magical energy erupted. In that vast, empty hall, all natural mana violently surged in response — an astonishing display of power!
...
Morning.
Deep within the forest outside Haji Village, the chirping of birds filled the air.
A small clearing, with few trees, had long been a training ground for Yuuki and Asta. Ever since Yuuki and the others had left Haji Village, no one had come here.
Suddenly!
A surge of magical energy appeared, and a dark spatial portal rose from the ground.
The next moment,
Yuuki stepped out of the black portal, wearing the white robes marked with the emblem of the Three Demonic Eyes.
Bang! The unconscious Myaser was tossed to the ground first, letting out a dull thud.
"Spatial magic really does consume a lot of mana,"
Yuuki said as he waved his hand to close the portal, a faint, almost imperceptible pallor crossing his face. He sank to the ground.
Originally, he had planned to return straight to the royal capital, but the distance was too great. His mana wouldn't last long enough to transport him all the way there.
Fortunately,
the White Night Demon Eye's base was already on the border of the Clover Kingdom. Though not close to Haji Village, it was far enough to recover mana first.
He needed to restore his energy.
Yuuki inhaled the fresh forest air and sat with his eyes closed in meditation. After about thirty minutes, the mana he had expended was fully restored.
Reopening his eyes, Yuuki focused his thoughts.
The silver grimoire floated in front of him, and the rapid rustle of turning pages filled the air.
Magic:
Wind Magic — Tower of the StormSpatial Magic — TeleportationSpatial Magic — Dimensional SpaceChain Magic — Magic-Binding Iron Chain Formation
Yuuki glanced at the newly updated spells in his grimoire and smiled.
The risk he had taken this time had been bold, but the reward was substantial.
Under Licht's instructions, he had acquired two spatial magics from Vitt, replacing his previous "Water Healing" and "Serpent Dance."
"Teleportation" required no further explanation.
"Dimensional Space," however, was another ability of Vitt's spatial magic: it could create an independent space, the size of which depended on the mana expended.
Every spatial mage had variations in their magic. Vitt's spatial magic, in addition to basic teleportation, allowed him to open a separate dimension.
During the defense of the royal capital, Vitt had used this skill to ambush the captain of the Red Lotus Lion King squad, Farglain, teleporting him into a prepared dimensional space. This allowed Licht to attack Farglain within that space, resulting in the captain losing an arm and being severely wounded — a setback that delayed this powerful combatant until late in the Elf Arc.
"This is no small problem,"
Yuuki tugged at his collar, revealing a mark on his shoulder shaped like a magical eye.
Looking at the mark, a cold smile crossed his face.
According to Licht, this was the symbol of a White Night Demon Eye member — but Yuuki knew better. This wasn't some decorative emblem; it was the mark of a forbidden sacrificial technique, a "sure-death situation" for anyone who joined the White Night Demon Eye.
Licht valued him so highly because Yuuki was intended as a new body for Rhya should anything happen — a body compatible with Rhya's soul. For Yuuki, who understood the story, this was obvious: their magics were similar, indicating a degree of soul compatibility.
In the anime, Vitt and Fana were both defeated and killed, only to be reincarnated via Sally's cloning technology.
At this point in time, however, Sally's tech was clearly still imperfect.
With the magical-eye sacrificial mark, even if Rhya couldn't use Yuuki's body, it could serve as a backup offering. After all, why not add an extra layer of insurance?
Licht's foresight was thorough.
Yuuki's cold smile deepened.
However, the real danger of Rhya's reincarnation wasn't Yuuki's concern — she was the one among the Three Demonic Eyes who always survived to the end. The true threat was the sacrificial forbidden technique itself.
A normal mage facing this technique would have no chance of survival.
Yet Yuuki didn't feel nervous. He knew three ways to overcome it:
Reanimation Magic!Demon-Slaying Sword!Anti-Magic!
Even without considering the first two methods, Yuuki's connection with Asta made borrowing anti-magic quite simple.
Until Licht collected all the magic stones, this sacrificial technique wasn't particularly dangerous.
"Now it's time to test my fully replicated abilities."
Yuuki pulled out a red grimoire, lifting his head toward the nearby unconscious Myaser. A faint smile crossed his face as he murmured softly to himself.
