Chapter 45 - Chapter 45: For Lord Licht! The Delivered Spatial Magic!

Upon hearing Yuuki's words laced with anger, Walters' suspicion and wariness toward him vanished, replaced with recognition and approval.

Just as Yuuki had said, in Walters' eyes, everything Lord Licht spoke was correct.

Yuuki, however, didn't notice the shift in Walters' gaze. At this moment, he was completely immersed in his role.

Before entering the massive hall, Yuuki had been replaying the entire encounter with Licht in his mind, checking if there had been anything suspicious in his behavior.

The result?

Yuuki realized that he had come across as a bit too composed. Fortunately, Licht didn't know him well.

But now that Licht had just declared him a core member, appearing too calm could be problematic.

Anyone with even a hint of perception could tell that the Eye of the Midnight Sun was an extremely powerful organization. How could a core member remain without any emotional reaction?

After all, Yuuki was only a fifteen-year-old boy!

At that very moment, Rades suddenly lunged forward.

Such a perfect opportunity!

Yuuki immediately counterattacked, simultaneously showing his reverence for Lord Licht and displaying the impulsiveness appropriate for a fifteen-year-old.

Originally, Yuuki had wanted to be even more aggressive, but recalling how composed he had seemed at first in front of Licht, he restrained himself somewhat.

Acting?

Back in Hage Village, Yuuki, Asta, and Yuno often engaged in mental sparring with Father and Sister Lily. He could handle a bit of performance when needed.

At least from the perspective of Licht and the others, Yuuki appeared as a boy who revered Licht, was composed, decisive, yet a little impulsive.

Rades' face darkened. Seeing the chains binding him, he realized he was actually being attacked:

"You little brat! You're asking for death!!"

A murderous rage welled up in Rades' eyes as he let out a roar.

But the next moment, Rades' expression changed. He realized he couldn't access any of his mana, as if he had completely lost it.

Seeing Rades in this state, Sally and Walters exchanged a glance, apparently realizing that this chain magic was not ordinary.

A faint smile appeared in Yuuki's eyes — this was the true power of chain magic!

Once a target was bound, pairing it with an offensive spell could easily eliminate them, making it easy to catch opponents off guard.

Of course, this magic is only effective against mages who are not too strong. Mages at Licht or captain level can easily sense the mana fluctuations from chain magic and avoid it.

Without some form of magical concealment, trying to bind a captain-level mage with chain magic would be as impossible as a normal person killing a captain-level mage with a single punch.

"For Lord Licht! Atone with your life!"

Yuuki's face burned with anger as he swung his hand again. The pages of his silver grimoire flipped rapidly:

"Wind Magic — Tower of the Tempest!"

Rumble!

A powerful gust instantly twisted into a roaring tornado, sweeping toward Rades!

"Chain magic and wind magic! This young man truly wields unique spells,"

Sally exclaimed, leaping backward to avoid the tornado's path, clearly excited.

Rades struggled with all his strength, unable to break free from the chains. His face turned beet-red, and seeing the approaching tornado, it paled further.

"Damn it!!"

Rades' expression turned pitch-black as he let out a low growl. Bound by strange chains, completely unable to use his mana, if the tornado struck him, he would almost certainly die.

The feeling of utter frustration was one Radis hadn't experienced in years — ever since he had been expelled from the Magic Knights.

Despite his strength, he had been outmaneuvered by a mere kid!

Meanwhile, as Yuuki used his wind magic, Fana and Vetto, sitting on their respective stone pillars and looking rather uninterested in the commotion below, exchanged glances. Both seemed to direct their thoughtful gaze toward the drowsy Rhya on the far pillar.

"Oh."

Rhya lazily squinted his eyes.

"Alright, Yuuki, stop."

Licht's gentle, slightly exasperated voice came from above.

"Yes, Lord Licht."

Yuuki had already anticipated Licht's intervention. As he withdrew his magic, he still maintained a slight look of displeasure toward Radis, letting out a cold hum.

As the tornado and chains vanished,

Radis regained his freedom, but his unpleasant expression remained unchanged.

With Licht present, Radis dared not make any move against Yuuki. Moreover, after what had just occurred, he wouldn't underestimate Yuuki again.

"Yuuki becoming a core member is settled. All four of you are comrades now — cooperate with each other,"

Licht's gentle voice continued from the stone pillars, adding:

"As for your magic, if you don't mind, you can explain it to everyone."

Licht seemed to be giving Yuuki the choice, but Yuuki knew exactly which decision would be most advantageous.

"Yes, Lord Licht."

"My magic is Replication Magic. By touching another mage's grimoire with my own, I can replicate any magical techniques they've mastered."

Yuuki spoke earnestly, without hiding anything.

Hearing what Yuuki could do,

Radis, Sally, and Walters all showed expressions of surprise, their eyes glancing involuntarily toward one of the Demonic Eyes, Rhya.

Radis instinctively tightened his grip on his own grimoire, but

Rhya seemed completely uninterested, still lying lazily on the stone pillar.

Licht nodded gently at Yuuki.

"Walters, let Yuuki replicate your spatial magic. Leave the intelligence gathering in the royal capital to him."

"Having spatial magic will improve efficiency and safety, saving you the trouble of going back and forth alone."

Licht's voice was as gentle as ever, yet to Yuuki, it sounded like the most beautiful music.

He had never imagined spatial magic would be so effortlessly at his disposal!

In Yuuki's plans, rule-based magic like spatial magic had always been reserved for last, yet he had acquired it so easily, giving him a sense of disbelief.

"Yes, Lord Licht."

Walters bowed respectfully, showing no trace of resentment. Instead, he nodded kindly to Yuuki.

"For everything, for Lord Licht!"

Yuuki's expression hardened, and he spoke loudly:

Everything is for Lord Licht!

If he had known that following Licht would bring such easy rewards, why bother joining the Magic Knights?
