Chapter 33 - Chapter Thirty-Two: Cargo Ships

More than ten days passed in a flash. Kote and the others trained together in the military camp. In their free time, they watched news from all over the Universe on the holonet. At this moment, a convoy of merchant ships in the Mandalorian System exited hyperspace, bearing the unmistakable symbol of the Trade Federation.

On the main vessel, a Kuat-class LH-3210 freighter:

"Captain, won't we be attacked or have our ship impounded by the Mandalorians if we rashly enter the Hadian Way region of the Mandalore Sector? After all, it's not very safe here," said an Ithorian wearing a black Trade Defense Force uniform.

"This is one of the fastest routes to Coruscant, and besides, the current Mandalore government only has ground police forces and no capability to attack us," the Neimoidian Captain replied to his subordinate's question.

"I hope so," the subordinate sighed.

Meanwhile, on Vadiel, in the radar station monitoring the entire Mandalorian System:

"Sir, we've detected a Trade Federation merchant convoy exiting hyperspace and arriving in the System. Should we intercept them?" a radar station detector asked the team leader.

"Hmm, report it first, and send a communication to their fleet to ask what they're doing here," the team leader chose a cautious approach.

On the freighter, the Neimoidian Captain connected to the message.

"Trade Federation freighters do not have an identification code for passage through the Mandalore Sector. Please leave immediately."

"No, no, no, Officer, we are just borrowing the hyperspace lane to transport our goods. The Trade Federation will send someone to discuss the passage. Please allow us to pass this one time," the Captain said humbly.

At this moment, the team leader had finished reporting and received instructions from above, requiring a boarding inspection.

"Then we will first send people to board and inspect the cargo. Otherwise, you will not be allowed to leave this Sector. Please understand."

"Alright," the Captain reluctantly accepted the terms.

Meanwhile, Kote, in the military camp, had already prepared four small teams, ready to personally lead his men to the freighter for a robbery—uh, no, an inspection.

Four khmurlk-class light freighters departed from Vadiel.

"Captain, do we really have to let them come up for inspection? There are quite a few slaves here that need to be sent to Zygerria, and slavery is illegal in the Republic," the subordinate said nervously.

"Just give them some money to send them away. If they find out, send people to kill them. After all, dead men tell no tales," the Neimoidian chuckled sinisterly.

He then instructed the Trade Defense Force on the ship to guard the slave crates carefully, preventing the Mandalorians from finding them. After all, no one wanted a major conflict with the Mandalorians.

Four ships docked on the donut-shaped freighter, which looked like it had been bitten. Eighty fully equipped Mandalorians disembarked, led by Kote Vizsla.

The Neimoidian hurried forward with a fawning smile, even pulling out a bag of credits and stuffing them into Kote's hand. "Officer, please inspect. The cargo hold is this way," the Neimoidian walked ahead, leading everyone to the normal cargo holds.

Upon entering the cargo hold, lights illuminated one by one with their footsteps. Kote casually pointed to a few cargo holds, sending men inside to check the cargo information and whether the internal items matched.

Omen first reviewed the cargo's transport records, then compared them with the information, and then had someone open the cargo hold. "Information matches, it's wheat."

"Information matches."

"Information matches."

"Officer, you see, there's no problem with any of this. We would never deceive you. So, is that the end of it?" the Neimoidian said beside Kote.

"Sorry, I still need to randomly check other cargo holds," Kote's voice was cold and unfeeling.

"Then... come with me, Officer," the subordinate walked over, intending to lead Kote and his men to other normal cargo holds.

Kote waved his hand, looking at the datapad Omen handed him. One entry immediately caught his interest: 'Live Animal Zone.' "This one looks good, let's check this one."

Everyone present, except for the Mandalorians, broke out in a cold sweat. That was one of the slave cargo holds, and the Mandalorians absolutely could not be allowed to go there. The Neimoidian Captain pulled out another bag of credits. "Officer, those are all fierce animals. It's better not to inspect them, as they can easily injure people."

"You know, Captain, the animals of Mandalore were declared extinct a long time ago, so I'm very curious to see what animals from other planets look like," Kote took the bag but ignored the Captain.

He then had Omen find the way. The faces of the Trade Federation personnel behind them turned green. Was this unavoidable war? And he even took over a hundred thousand of my credits. He then gestured to the Defense Force personnel, telling them to keep an eye on the slaves and prevent them from rushing out.

The Defense Force personnel took the order and immediately took another route to the slave cargo hold to control the slaves and prevent them from causing trouble, or else they would be beaten severely.

Kote led his men to the disguised cargo hold as well, and before entering the hatch, he told his subordinates, "Be ready to fire at any time. Watch these guys carefully; they have something to hide."

"Understood!" Everyone immediately picked up their Gallar-15 blaster carbines, ready to shoot.

Opening the hatch, the first thing that came into view were Nikto from Ambria, creatures that resembled Earth's velociraptors. Some people liked these little guys and kept them as pets.

There were also many nerfs, originating from Alderaan but raised by herders in various parts of the galaxy. There was even a Rancor in a large cage.

"Quite a lot, indeed. But what's in there? Omen, take some men and check if it matches the cargo manifest," Kote pointed to the containers in another area, with a group of Trade Defense Force personnel standing in front of them. Omen led his men directly to the containers.

"Um..." The Neimoidian was truly sweating profusely now, even pulling out a handkerchief to wipe his brow. "Those are some more dangerous creatures."

"You're very nervous, Captain."

"Perhaps I'm having an attack. Please allow me to go see the medical droid first." The Captain wanted to leave quickly, fearing he might be accidentally injured if a fight broke out.

"Then please go quickly," Kote stepped aside.

As soon as he exited the hatch, the Captain let out a long breath and immediately gave the order, "Open fire! Kill these Mandalorians!"

"But they haven't finished their inspection yet," said a Defense Force member.

"Fire!"

"Alright," the Defense Force member said helplessly, immediately raising their blasters, ready to shoot. But the moment the first blaster bolt was fired, their death sentence was sealed.

With the firing of the first blaster bolt, both sides instantly began exchanging fire, causing the nearby herd of nerfs to panic and stampede.

Inside the containers, the slaves heard the sound of blaster bolts outside and pondered whether to rush out. But there had been a similar situation before: they had rushed out only to find that the Republic's Judicial Forces who had boarded the ship had all been killed by these people. Afterward, everyone had been beaten half to death and re-crated. This time, they dared not rush out.

"You cowards, if you won't rush, I will!" A tall Devaronian stood up directly, smashing open the container door. Then a furry Wookiee stood up, followed by a group of Wookiees who also stood up and rushed out, "Owo! Owo!"
