For the next three days, Nyx practiced shifting nonstop. Whenever she had strength, she transformed, no matter the time, from wolf to human, human to wolf, until it felt as natural as breathing.
By the fourth day, she could shift within thirty seconds. By the fifth day, she could be in her wolf form for over an hour without exhaustion.
But on the sixth day everything fell apart.
Nyx as usual woke up before dawn, intending to practice in the private training ground. She dressed up quietly, trying not to wake up Raziel, but he held her wrist as she was about to leave.
"Where are you going?"
"For training. I want to try maintaining my wolf form for two hours."
"It's barely dawn. Come back to bed."
"I can't. I need to practice…"
"You've been practicing nonstop for six days." Raziel sat up. "You're going to burn yourself out."
"I'm fine."
"You're obsessed."
Nyx pulled her hand free from his grip.
