After falling the next thing Robotica knew was pure pain as he awoke in a high tech hospital bed with wire strapped to him in every orifice they could find.
"Was it a dream?" He asks as he rips out a bunch of the wire.
"Nah you're dead and I'm the grim reaper." Says a skeletal figure sat by his bedside
Robotica's face lights up as he bunches up all the remaining wires and rips them out before getting up and punching the skeleton so hard that its skull cracks.
"Damn I expected a 'hello' or 'omg my love you're alive' not that." The skeleton replys with a chuckle as the crack heals.
"WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?" Robotica shouts as he embraces the skeleton and starts crying.
"Saving lives. I'm sorry Tinker Toy." The skeleton replies as they embrace him back.
"Fuck off Boney Boy" Robotica says as he places his hand on the skeletons cheek to check he's not hallucinating.
"I'm here darling." The skeleton says as it places its hand atop Robotica's.
Suddenly a man rushes through the door wielding James's machetes and shouting commandingly "MARROW WE LOST VITALS THEY MUST BE INFECTED."
The two just stare in pure shock at his audacity.
"Give me those you smoothbrained numbskull I already strip searched him for bites" Marrow replies as he snatches the machetes off the man and placing them on the hospital bed. The subordinate quickly leaves in embarrassment.
"Who else survived?" Robotica says as he looks at the machetes
"You, Titana, the cripple, and the kid"
"Where are they?"
"The kids in the nursery and the others are waiting to be discharged from the medbay."
As Marrow says that the door is flung open again. This time its Jole holding a bottle of wine and Titana who has their entire left side burned making them look like two-face.
"We heard you're awake." Jole says as he places the wine down next to the machetes.
"Sssso he getssss sssskin replacementssss but I don't get sssscale replacementssss?" Titana asks teasingly as he pats Marrows back.
"Can't you just moult?" Marrow retorts before everyone laughs.
"Anyways to business. Robotica do you trust these guys with your life?" Marrow says in a serious tone.
"I do." Robotica replies in an equally serious tone.
"Cam go get my right hand." Marrow says as a guy appears in the corner with a smirk.
"Yes boss." The guy replies before leaving the room.
"We'll start business when Cam and Mammon get here." Marrow says as he runs his fingers through Robotica's hair.
"Until then you need to tell me what happened after I passed out." Robotica demands sternly.
Everyone falls dead silent as Marrow speaks "I arrived too late and you were not only slowing down Plasma but practically embracing him. I shot a bone spike out of my arm destroying his brain via stabbing through their rectum. After that we brought you all back and gave medical treatment. You've been unconscious for a week since then."
Robotica looks at the others for confirmation in which they nod.
"I expected at least 3 weeks or death." Robotica says with a chuckle as Cam returns with a hulking demonic woman behind him.
"Anyways now we're all here let's begin." Marrow says going back to his serious tone. Robotica instantly picks up on the situation and starts with a question. "Who else from the team is here Marrow?"
"You're the first we've seen Robotica. Do you have any info on our teammates?"
"Staminatrix is dead and Björn is infected." Robotica replies in a saddened tone.
"So four of the immortals are accounted for and 2 are dead?" The demonic woman asks.
"Yes Mammon we're not really immortal." Marrow says with a sigh predicting her next question.
"HA HA you know me too well boss." She replies with a hearty laugh.
"The eastern sector of the city is closed off to all unless on a suicide mission." Robotica says returning to the serious atmosphere.
"We've heard of the deadlands but we don't know why their called that or on lockdown." Marrow replies matching his tone.
"Itssss where Björn'ssss zombie ressssidessss." Titana says as he finally speaks up.
"We need to locate as many immortals as possible and try to keep them alive if we want any chance of surviving this shit." Jole says in a flat tone as he looks around the room.
"Unless you have air travel then thats gonna be tough because the oceans off limits" Marrow says calmly
"Whyssss that?"
"Leviathan was bit and is locked in an endless battle with Jörmungandr" Mammon says with a chuckle.
"The immortals were spread thin when this shit started so its most likely that there is only half the team on this landmass." Robotica says as he finally stands up and looks in the mirror to see his half regenerated skin making him look half dead.
"Who do we know was on the landmass?" Cam says with a smirk.
"Me, Robotica, Björn, Staminatrix, Lady Life and Reaper" Marrow says as he places a hand on Robotica's shoulder supportively.
"So we need to locate 13 heroes including Reaper and Lady Life. And all 13 of them are capable of killing a state in around half an hour and either kill them or hope their on our side before it's too late." Cam says with a smirk.
"Thats the plan. Now we need to let the rest of the survivors know that us six are the acting leaders of this sanctuary unless you guys don't want to take on the role." Marrow says as he walks towards the door of the room.
Everyone agrees to take the role and goes to the comms room to announce the new precautions. The announcement is started by Marrow who opens with
"Hello residents of our sanctuary i have just had a meeting with five trusted individuals who are all now acting leaders. These individuals are me Marrow."
"Me Mammon."
"Me Camo."
"Me Robotica."
"Me Titana."
"And me Jole."
"We understand that you have gotten used to our current rules but based on recent information we are going to amp up security so that everyone has to stay in isolation for a day and be cleared by a leader before leaving or entering the sanctuary. Along with this we are going to work on finding the 13 immortals who are still unaccounted for so we can try and keep the earth alive in hopes we can find a cure and resurrect this world that was."
After the announcements Cam disappears into his transparent state and Mammon goes off on her own.
"Sssso whats with the tension between you two." Titana says referring to Robotica and Marrow.
"We were a couple and then this happened when the entire team got split up so we've been separated for the 2 years this has been happening." Robotica says calmly as he takes Marrow's hand.
"Cool gay heroes" Jole says as he turns to leave with Titana.
"Darling I have something to show you."
Marrow says after everyone else has left. He leads Robotica through the sanctuary to sub-basement level 3 which is a massive laboratory filled with different types of braniac supers both heroes and villains alike.
"The factories on sub-basement 4 and this is all your jurisdiction." Marrow says with a calm caring tone.
"Finally a real lab." Robotica says as he goes to a desk with a pile of scraps and failed projects.
"Have fun Tinker toy." Marrow says before leaving.
After Marrow leaves Robotica starts working on the scraps and failed projects building a fully functioning robotic arm in half an hour.
"You truly were a super in science." Says one of the scientists as they look at Robotica's work.
"You qualify to work with the big wigs. I'm suprised." He retorts sarcastically.
"Been a while Rival."
"Good to see you too Frankenstine."
The two embrace and chuckle like old friends.
"God I still remember when we'd fight in the streets and now look at us." Robotica says as he goes back to working.
"Everyone has had to change or die and I'm needed here more than I'm needed dead." Frankenstine retorts with a smile.
"Well I'm sure this virus can be beat soon enough with your biochemistry."
"Thats just it. It was made with resistance to everything. There's no cure unless we can get an otherworldly substance or Lady Life." Frankenstine says in a serious tone.
