Otis's heart grew restless and uneasy as he waited for Mei's reply. After thinking for a moment, she finally answered.
"Just get married normally. No shoe-hunting, no drinking on behalf of the groom, no red envelopes sorry, but I'm going there to get married, not to torment the groom."
Otis asked,
"Wouldn't it feel… less festive that way?"
Mei replied immediately,
"How could it be? Sure, I'm happy when the person I like overcomes all odds to come to me but because I like him, I don't want him to go through all that trouble. Especially if I'm the one making him do it."
She shared her thoughts openly.
Otis said,
"Sounds nice."
Mei nodded on her end though Otis couldn't see her.
"Right? It'd be great. Besides, a wedding is about two people. At most, it's between two families. But in the end, it's still about the two of them. So whether it's the ceremony or anything else, we can decide whatever we want."
