Evelin's POV
"I refuse," I said without hesitation.
Grey's brow furrowed. "Are you still mad at me?"
"I'm not mad," I replied, keeping my tone steady. "When I quit, I never planned on returning to the company."
His expression grew darker. "Do you realize joining Skyward Technology would breach a non-compete clause? I could take legal action against you. You'd be liable for all our company's damages, plus it would impact the Skyward projects you're involved in."
I went still, staring at him in shock. I hadn't expected those words to come from him.
Grey looked away, suddenly seeming uncomfortable. "If you don't want to drag your friend's company into this mess, you should leave there. Come back and take your position at the company."
I let out a bitter laugh. "Grey, I thought that even if you were unclear about relationships, at least you were straightforward in business. I see now I overestimated you."
