Golden sparks swirled and bloomed in the laboratory air.
Two Hydra soldiers spun around abruptly, energy rifles instantly trained on the suddenly appearing portal.
"What…"
The tall soldier's exclamation died in his throat.
Two crimson beams of Heat Vision shot forth from the portal, piercing the two men's foreheads with pinpoint accuracy.
Their bodies didn't even have time to fall before they were carbonized by the intense heat, becoming two charred statues.
Xiao Han stepped out of the portal, his black combat boots echoing dully on the metal floor.
His cape billowed without a breeze, the S Emblem on his chest gleaming coldly in the laboratory's pale lighting.
Wanda was curled up inside the glass enclosure, her crimson eyes wide with fear.
Her lips trembled, and the energy of Chaos Magic danced uncontrollably at her fingertips, turning the entire glass container blood red.
"Step back."
Xiao Han's voice was calm, but it carried undeniable force.
Wanda instinctively moved backward, her back pressed against the cold glass wall.
The next second, Xiao Han's eyes once again lit up with terrifying red light.
Zzzt!
Heat Vision sliced through the reinforced glass like a hot knife through butter, and the container shattered.
Wanda felt a dizzying sensation; the energy of Chaos Magic surged from her body like a breached dam.
A crimson energy storm swept through the entire lab, tearing apart the experimental equipment. The metal tables twisted, and the light tubes on the ceiling exploded one after another.
"No… I can't control it…"
Wanda clutched her head in pain, a scarlet vortex of energy forming around her.
Xiao Han frowned slightly. He instantly deployed his Bio-Field, containing the out-of-control energy within a certain radius.
He strode towards Wanda and placed his hand on her shoulder.
The instant the two made contact…
Wanda's vision was suddenly flooded with countless fragmented images.
She saw Xiao Han hovering over New York, his eyes emitting destructive Heat Vision, slicing alien creatures in half.
She saw him carrying a nuclear missile towards outer space, the missile destroying an alien warship.
She saw him wearing the Infinity Gauntlet, a snap of his fingers obliterating an alien fleet.
These images, like bolts of electricity, surged through Wanda's brain, causing a sharp, stinging pain.
She screamed, and the energy of Chaos Magic suddenly erupted, forcing Xiao Han to stumble back a step.
"Who... who are you?" Wanda slumped to the ground, her voice hoarse and unrecognizable.
Alarms blared throughout the base, the red warning lights painting the corridors in a bloody hue.
Heavy footsteps echoed from all directions; Hydra's reinforcements were gathering.
Xiao Han didn't immediately answer Wanda's question.
He turned to face the laboratory door, listening to the approaching footsteps, a smirk playing on his lips.
"Breathe in," he suddenly said.
Wanda was taken aback and instinctively took a deep breath.
Xiao Han's chest swelled slightly, and then...
Whoosh!
An icy Freeze Breath erupted from his mouth, a white torrent of cold sweeping through the entire corridor like a blizzard.
The first six Hydra soldiers who charged in were instantly frozen into ice sculptures, their faces still frozen in expressions of terror.
The cold continued to spread, with thick ice forming on the walls. The alarms shattered from the cold, and even the moisture in the air transformed into tiny ice crystals.
"God!"
Wanda murmured, the white vapor of her breath condensing in front of her.
She had never seen such power. It was elegant, yet deadly.
Xiao Han turned and reached out to her, "Can you still walk?"
Wanda hesitated for a second, then trembling, placed her hand in his.
Xiao Han gently pulled her behind him.
"Stay close."
They walked out of the lab, and the hallway was already swarming with fully armed Hydra soldiers.
The buzzing sound of energy weapons charging filled the air, and red targeting lasers crisscrossed Xiao Han's chest.
"Fire!"
Dozens of energy beams shot out simultaneously, but they strangely hung in the air a few centimeters from Xiao Han's skin, as if hitting an invisible wall.
A flash of red light appeared in Xiao Han's eyes, and his Heat Vision swept through the soldiers. The front ranks were cut in half before they could even scream.
Wanda clutched Xiao Han's cloak tightly, watching everything in horror.
She had once dreamed of someone destroying this hell, but she never imagined it would be realized in such a bloody way.
With each flash of Heat Vision, a group of soldiers fell.
And there was someone with similar abilities. He saw Xiao Han simply raise his hand, and all the bullets reversed direction, flying towards Hydra.
Xiao Han moved through the base like a grim reaper, leaving behind only shattered corpses and twisted metal.
"Baron Skrull..." Xiao Han's super vision pierced through layers of obstacles.
"So he escaped by helicopter."
"North."
Xiao Han turned back, facing Wanda: "Close your eyes."
As soon as Wanda closed her eyelids, she felt a sense of weightlessness. Xiao Han's Bio-Field enveloped her.
Then…
Boom!
A massive hole was blasted through the ceiling, concrete and steel reinforcing bars shattering like paper.
Wanda felt herself ascending rapidly, the cold wind whipping across her face.
When she mustered the courage to open her eyes, the entire Hydra base had become a tiny speck below, flames of the explosion still consuming it.
The base, which had once brought suffering to countless people, was utterly destroyed.
"Hold on tight."
Xiao Han's voice was still clear amidst the wind.
Wanda's heart skipped a beat; they were flying at an unimaginable speed!
The clouds rushed past, and the scenery below blurred into a canvas of colors.
A few seconds later, she spotted a small black dot moving in the sky.
"That's Baron Skrull's helicopter," Xiao Han said, his voice laced with cold certainty.
His eyes glowed red again, and two beams of Heat Vision sliced through the air, precisely hitting the helicopter's tail rotor.
Black smoke billowed from the fuselage, and the helicopter began to spin downward.
"Please don't kill him, I want to do it myself!" Wanda suddenly grabbed Xiao Han's arm.
Xiao Han nodded, then altered his flight path, diving towards the falling helicopter.
Just as the helicopter was about to crash, he caught the aircraft with one hand, gently setting it down on an open field.
Baron Skrull crawled out of the mangled cockpit, his face covered in blood.
His face instantly paled when he saw the black figure standing before him.
"Su... Superman..."
His voice trembled, barely audible, "This doesn't concern you... This is an internal matter for Hydra..."
Xiao Han sneered, immediately grabbing his neck and lifting him up, "Didn't think of that when you were experimenting on me?"
A flicker of cunning flashed in Skrull's eyes, "Let... let me go... I'll tell you all the secrets..."
Crack.
Xiao Han broke his right arm without hesitation.
Baron Skrull let out a scream like a slaughtered pig.
"Next time, it'll be your left arm."
Xiao Han's voice was terrifyingly calm. "Then your legs. You have one chance."
"Don't even think about asking anything!" Baron Skrull was crying, tears streaming down his face from the pain.
"Hail Hydra!"
Xiao Han, using telekinesis to control him, then turned to Wanda: "I've already rescued everyone else in a few seconds, they've gone straight through my portal to where they need to be. As for him, he's all yours."
Wanda was stunned, tears shimmering in her eyes under the moonlight: "Finally… is it over?"
Wanda, controlling Chaos Magic, ended Baron Skrull's life.
Xiao Han didn't say anything, his eyes shooting out two heat visions as thin as hair.
He precisely ignited the helicopter, and a huge fireball soared into the sky, illuminating half the sky.
"Let's go."
Xiao Han enveloped Wanda in his bio-field again, flying towards New York.
New York
The lights of the Long Island Villa looked especially warm in the night.
When Xiao Han landed on the terrace with Wanda, the smart home system automatically adjusted the indoor temperature and lighting, and a soft piano melody flowed out from the hidden speakers.
Wanda stood barefoot on the soft carpet, unable to believe her eyes.
A spacious living room, the Atlantic Ocean visible through the floor-to-ceiling windows, and priceless artwork adorning the walls.
It was a stark contrast to the Hydra prison she had called home for three years.
"This is... your home?" she asked softly, her voice hoarse from disuse.
"It's yours, for now."
Xiao Han pressed the S Emblem on his chest, and his nano-armor receded like a tide, revealing the black combat suit beneath.
"There are empty rooms on the second floor. You can choose one."
Wanda looked around warily, "Why... why did you save me?"
Xiao Han walked over to the kitchen island and poured two glasses of water, "I heard your call for help."
"Thank you." Wanda's eyes conjured the images of the bodies sliced by Heat Vision, and a wave of nausea rolled through her.
Xiao Han offered her the water glass. "Those people experimented on children. They deserved it."
Wanda took the glass, her hands still trembling slightly.
The sensation of warm water flowing down her throat felt foreign. She realized how long it had been since she'd tasted clean water.
"You saw my memories," Xiao Han said suddenly, "The moment we touched."
Wanda looked up sharply. "Those... were they real? You really defeated aliens? Carried a nuclear bomb?"
Xiao Han nodded. "I've been to other places. Here, I choose to do what I want."
He paused. "Including saving you."
Wanda's eyes flashed with gratitude. "Thank you. I don't know when I would have been free without you."
Xiao Han pointed upstairs. "You need to rest tonight. There are clean clothes and toiletries in the bathroom."
