Chapter 51 - Chapter 51: This 5 Million, I'll Invest!

Su Yi smiled and shook the other party's hand, chatted for a few more sentences, and then left the Love Home Real Estate Agency Transaction Center with the contract tucked away.

Afterward, he glanced at the time, intending to drive straight home.

At this moment, Lin Minghui suddenly called him:

"Brother Su, there's an industry investment exchange meeting tonight, are you interested?"

"Primary market or secondary market?"

Su Yi asked.

Lin Minghui said:

"Both, I suppose. Based on previous exchange experiences, fund companies, private equity investment companies, investment banks, and venture capital firms in the industry will have their respective institutions participate.

Of course, more often, those participating in such investment exchange meetings are enterprises and project representatives eager to seek financing.

However, companies and project parties that actively come to such meetings to seek financing usually have some issues.

Either their fundamentals are poor, their operating conditions are bad, their capital chain is at risk, or there are huge flaws in their development prospects or business model, making them unattractive."

"That's understandable,"

Su Yi said.

"Truly high-quality companies and projects that need financing for development would have long been screened by banks, various VC investment companies, powerful investment banks, venture capital firms... and other legitimate financing institutions in the market.

They wouldn't easily flow to a point where enterprise and project financing representatives need to rely on networking and connections to promote them at such investment exchange meetings."

"You're right,"

Lin Minghui responded with a smile.

"But occasionally, you can still find one or two good projects. I found a project here last year, and now the investment cost has almost been recouped. I should be able to make a lot more later.

I saw that Brother Su had a deep understanding of primary market investments when you chatted with Lao Lei last time, and I heard that your major was originally 'Financial Investment.'

So... I thought of asking you to help me keep an eye out and see if there are any projects with significant investment potential."

"Does CEO Lin's company also do primary market investments?" Su Yi asked.

Lin Minghui said:

"Besides 'Minghui Financing Guarantee Company,' I also operate a Minghui Investment Company, but it's currently still in a small-scale stage."

"Oh!"

Su Yi acknowledged, thinking that such an investment exchange meeting would be good to experience.

He couldn't help but say,

"I can accompany CEO Lin, but don't ask me to help you keep an eye out. My skill level might be okay for stock trading, but when it comes to analyzing primary market projects, I'm completely an amateur."

Lin Minghui knew Su Yi was being modest, so he laughed and said,

"It's alright, just helping me with some general reference is fine."

After saying that, Lin Minghui hung up the phone and sent the address of the evening meeting to Su Yi.

Su Yi glanced at the address Lin Minghui sent, then drove there immediately.

When he arrived at the destination, Lin Minghui was already waiting for him outside the venue.

"Brother Su, let me introduce you. This is my company's project investment manager."

Seeing Su Yi arrive, Lin Minghui quickly greeted him with a smile and introduced the middle-aged man beside him,

"Manager Yang used to work at a large institution like 'Hongshan Capital.' He led teams to invest in many domestic and international projects. I... it wasn't easy to poach him to be in charge of project investments for our investment company."

While Lin Minghui was introducing him, Su Yi subtly assessed Manager Yang, then smiled and proactively extended his hand, saying,

"Hello!"

Manager Yang didn't know what relationship his boss had with Su Yi, but observing their expressions, he could guess their relationship was definitely not simple.

So, even though Su Yi looked young and seemed to lack much social experience, he didn't show any neglect.

He quickly shook Su Yi's hand and said with a smile,

"Hello, CEO Su. I heard CEO Lin say that you have deep insights into primary market investments, and I was just thinking that if I had the chance, I'd like to consult you."

"CEO Lin is being too kind,"

Su Yi smiled and said.

"I'm just an amateur. Today, I'm just here to observe the excitement. When it comes to primary market investments, I should be asking Manager Yang for advice."

Since the other party came from 'Hongshan Capital'.

Su Yi believed that he definitely had some capabilities, so his words were sincere.

"Alright, let's go in!"

Lin Minghui suggested with a smile, seeing the two being polite.

Then, without waiting for their response, he led the way towards the hotel entrance where the event was set up, and registered with the reception hostess.

Afterward, the three walked into the venue and saw that many people had already arrived.

"Oh, CEO Lin."

As soon as the three entered the venue, a man in a suit saw Lin Minghui and quickly came over to greet him,

"I recently heard that you've been making a fortune in the stock market, is that true?"

Lin Minghui chuckled,

"CEO Liao, you're joking. With the current stock market conditions, who can make money?"

"Whether others can, I don't know, but you, CEO Lin, definitely can,"

CEO Liao said, his gaze briefly sweeping over Manager Yang and Su Yi.

Assuming the two were employees of CEO Lin's company, he didn't even greet them, just pulled Lin Minghui towards where other bosses were gathered not far away.

"How is Mr. Lin's health these days? I had intended to visit Mr. Lin last time, but there was a problem with a company project, which forced me to go on a business trip personally. I just returned to Magic City..."

"My dad is doing very well. He should be sunbathing in Hawaii with his granddaughter right now,"

Lin Minghui casually replied.

"That 'hydrogen fuel cell' project you mentioned last time, is there any potential? Is it reliable?"

As the two walked further away, their voices gradually blurred, and Su Yi also turned his attention to other parts of the venue.

He saw that although the venue was large, the attendees were basically gathered in their familiar, known small circles, groups of three to five, or seven to eight people, scattered throughout the venue.

People came and went, seemingly chaotic, but in reality, clearly distinct and layered.

"CEO Su, I'll just go over..."

As Su Yi was observing his surroundings, Manager Yang pointed to someone greeting him not far away and said.

Su Yi nodded slightly.

After the other party left, he was happy to be at leisure, casually picked up a drink from a nearby table, and wandered around.

"We are truly sorry, your project proposal does not meet our company's investment criteria."

"Sorry, we believe your company's main business development does not have great prospects and does not meet our company's requirements for project investment."

"The apparel retail industry is a fully competitive industry. To be honest, I don't see anything in your financing proposal that proves your competitive strength. So, apologies, you can try other companies. Perhaps other institutions have different investment requirements than ours."

"Sorry, our company does not invest in heavy asset manufacturing industries."

"The proposal is well-made, but the business model is unworkable."

Su Yi walked around most of the area where representatives of various investment institutions were gathered.

All he heard were the ruthless rejections, and even ridicule, directed at the various companies and project parties who had come here hoping for financing through various means and channels.

"Personal IP value? What is that? Where are your company's future development ideas and profit points?"

"Personal IP value is similar to the personal brand value of celebrities. Our idea is to empower individual value by creating 'grassroots influencers,' establishing more down-to-earth personal brand value, and then using the personal IP as the core to undertake advertisements, endorsements, or other methods like online selling, live streaming, to monetize it."

A man around thirty, with a strong Sichuan-Chongqing accent, was arguing persistently, facing a financing proposal that was discarded like waste paper by the investment institution.

"I believe that in the era of mobile internet, with the more comprehensive coverage of netizens, more civilian personal IP value will definitely emerge."

"This is idealistic empty talk,"

The investment institution's representative said.

"Currently, the leading companies in this field in the market are unable to make a profit, proving that this business model is unworkable. We will not invest in an unproven business model. Of course... you can try other companies."

"Oh... creating 'grassroots influencers' and empowering personal IP value, this is quite interesting."

Su Yi heard the conversation between the two and couldn't help but stop behind the thirty-something man who had been rejected by the investment institution representative.

After the man dejectedly picked up his financing proposal, intending to leave, Su Yi smiled and called out to him,

"Could you tell me more specifically about the business model you just mentioned, concerning 'empowering personal IP value'?"

Seeing that Su Yi was young and didn't seem like a project manager representative from an investment institution, or an boss who could directly decide on project financing plans, the man hesitated and asked,

"Excuse me, are you...?"

"How much money do you want to raise from an institution?"

Su Yi didn't answer but counter-questioned.

The man replied,

"5 million is enough."

"Good!"

Su Yi nodded.

"If you can explain it well and convince me that this project's business model can work, this 5 million, I'll invest!"
