Chapter 191: I Might Have Helped a Fake Old Grandpa
Successfully leading Kakashi and Guy's contest astray, Masahiko didn't stop but continued deeper into the training ground. There, he saw his two disciples sparring.
Masahiko looked around and shook his head helplessly. "Sure enough, Kushina-kun isn't here."
"For girls of this age, is the person they like really more important? This is youth!"
"Pah! Youth my foot. I need to stay away from that father and son."
Seeing his two disciples practicing diligently, Masahiko felt gratified and didn't pursue Kushina-kun's matter. Having just unexpectedly gained a hundred Witness Points, he was very happy.
"We common folk are really happy today..." Without revealing himself, Masahiko hummed a little tune, used the Transformation Jutsu, and walked leisurely towards the Taobao Shop. Taking advantage of the fact that everyone thought he wasn't in Konoha, he could add some products to the shop.
"What should I add?"
Walking on the streets of Konoha, Masahiko swayed left and right, pondering constantly.
"Be careful, Old Grandpa!" A childish shout came, and Masahiko found himself being supported by someone.
Masahiko smiled and glanced sideways. He had originally wanted to find a chance to get to know Obito, but he didn't expect to become the old grandpa Obito helped cross the street.
Masahiko's originally robust body suddenly seemed drained, leaning half his weight on the person supporting him.
"Thank you, little friend. If not for you, I'm afraid I would have fallen..."
This acting was as exaggerated as it gets.
But Obito didn't see through it and hurriedly supported Masahiko with force. "Old Grandpa, where is your home? I'll take you back!"
Masahiko chuckled inwardly and pointed out the direction. The two headed towards the Taobao Shop.
Passing by Ichiraku Ramen, Teuchi walked out quickly.
"Boss Hagoromo, your body?"
Masahiko winked vigorously, signaling Teuchi with his eyes not to interfere.
"Boss Hagoromo, a few days ago you were still..."
Teuchi clearly couldn't understand Masahiko's eye signals.
"Ah, it's nothing. I went for a run just now and got tired." Masahiko suddenly stood up straight, leaving Obito dumbfounded.
"Old Grandpa, are you okay?"
"Ah, something was wrong just now, but now it's gone. Thanks to you helping me for a while."
Obito scratched his head, a bit confused. Even if he was scatterbrained, he felt something was wrong at this moment.
"Then..." Seeing Masahiko's head full of white hair, Obito hesitated and couldn't pursue it. "I'll be going first, Old Grandpa. I still have to go train."
"Don't rush." Masahiko stopped him. "Since we're here, come into my shop and drink some water."
Half-dragging and half-pulling, he brought Obito into the shop, giving Teuchi a glare along the way.
Obito was resistant internally, but didn't dare to break free. Once inside the Taobao Shop, his gaze was immediately attracted by the surrounding carvings.
"Ah! These are the Hokage-samas, and the Sannin-samas, and the Clan Head..." Obito looked at them one by one, exclaiming repeatedly.
After a long while, Obito recovered. Having shouted for so long, he was very thirsty.
"Old Grandpa, do you have water here?" Obito hadn't forgotten that Masahiko brought him into the shop to give him a glass of water.
Masahiko paused. Where would he have such a thing? If he was thirsty, he would just use Water Release to make some water to drink; he didn't even have a cup.
"Umm... wait, I'll go next door to Ichiraku Ramen to ask for a glass of water for you."
"Don't trouble yourself, Old Grandpa." Obito quickly stopped him. "I'll drink at home!"
"Why the rush?"
"No no no, it's getting late, I have to go back." Obito felt more and more that something was wrong, speaking incoherently as he backed away towards the exit.
Masahiko's eyes shifted, and he shouted, "Watch out!"
Obito was stunned, then heard a "snap" behind him. He turned his head stiffly.
Masahiko walked over quickly and squatted down with a heartbroken expression.
"Poor Lord Third, you died so miserably."
The corners of Obito's mouth twitched. "Old Grandpa, did I bump into it?"
Masahiko suddenly looked up. "If not you, could it be me? I was far away just now."
Obito slumped entirely. He couldn't detect Masahiko secretly manipulating gravity.
"Old Grandpa, I'm sorry. How much is it? I'll compensate you." He took out a small wallet with a pained expression.
Masahiko suppressed a laugh and held up one finger.
"One hundred ryo?" Obito breathed a sigh of relief. It was just the cost of a dinner.
Masahiko shook his head.
"Then how much?"
"Add the word 'ten thousand' (man) after it and read it together."
"One... million!" Fortunately, Obito didn't faint.
Little Obito was very honest. Although he knew he couldn't afford it, he didn't think of running away.
"Old Grandpa, I don't have that much money."
Masahiko smiled. His ultimate goal was finally achieved.
He sighed too, pretending to be very disappointed.
"That was the carving of Lord Third that I spent all my effort to create. It was the only one of its kind." He had put away all the other extras.
Obito felt even more guilty.
Masahiko decided to quit while he was ahead. "It just so happens that I'm a bit lonely in the shop by myself. Seeing that you're a good kid, stay and become my apprentice to inherit my carving mantle in the future."
Obito was startled and shook his head repeatedly. "Old Grandpa, I will return the money to you as soon as possible, but I still need to go to school. I won't learn carving."
"It's fine." Masahiko waved his hand. "Just come here on weekends and holidays to learn."
Obito hesitated. "But I still have to practice ninjutsu on weekends..."
"Carving is also a form of training."
Masahiko produced a piece of wood from somewhere and took out a carving knife from his pocket. His right hand turned into a blur, and a few seconds later, the shape of Obito's face appeared on the wood.
Obito watched dumbfounded. "This..."
Masahiko waved his hand with a smile. "Think about it. If you can have my technique, when fighting others, they won't be able to keep up with your speed at all."
Obito's face showed longing, but he still hesitated.
Masahiko's eyes shifted, and he delivered the finishing blow.
"Carving is something very popular with girls. Think about it. After you master it, carve the likeness of the girl you love and give it to her; she will definitely be very happy."
Obito's face flushed "peach blossom pink," clearly imagining the scene of giving a carving to Rin Nohara.
After a long while, he recovered and looked at Masahiko. "Old Grandpa, I didn't expect you to be a man with a story too."
Masahiko felt like he had suddenly been stabbed.
"So, are you willing to learn carving from me now?" Masahiko handed the wood and carving knife to Obito. "Get used to the feeling of using a carving knife first. It's quite different from a kunai. I'll go find something inside."
Obito nodded and took them, gesturing back and forth with the carving knife.
A moment later, Masahiko walked out holding a carving of the Third Hokage.
Obito was stunned, recalling Masahiko's words: "spent all my effort," "only one of its kind."
The corners of his mouth twitched. "Hehe, I might have helped a fake Old Grandpa."
