Chapter 25 - Chapter 25, Day Six Settlement

Chapter 25 Day Six Settlement

Inside the animal cage, two wild rabbits quickly scurried away as humans squeezed in.

Qin Ziwen squatted down in front of the feeding trough, poking at the remaining plants with his fingers.

"Heh, quite picky eaters. They ate almost

all the tender leaves and tips." After observing for a while, he noticed that most of what was eaten were the tender leaves and those with thin, soft leaves.

However, not all plants were eaten; two types of grass were barely touched.

He beckoned to his younger brother outside the cage, picked up the uneaten grass, and said, "Don't pull out these two types anymore, and pinch off more tender leaves from the other three types."

  Qin Ziwu nodded in understanding.

"For water, you can just scoop some from the spring over there for the rabbits. You can give them a little more; they'll drink when they're thirsty."

Qin Ziwu practically wrote it all down in a notebook. He suggested, "Brother, we're raising animals here, and there's a spring over there. I was thinking, should we cover it with a cloth to keep dust or other things from dirtying the spring water?"

Qin Ziwen asked doubtfully, "We don't have a cloth that big at home, do

we?" Qin Ziwu smiled smugly, "We can sew it! I can just sew together a few bed sheets."

Qin Ziwen was greatly impressed. This guy looks so burly, yet he can sew! "When did you learn that?"

  Qin Ziwu blinked, "Learned what?"

  "Needlework."

Qin Ziwu suddenly realized, "I don't know how. I meant we could find someone to help sew. There are so many people in the community, surely someone knows how. We can exchange some food for labor."

Qin Ziwen came out of the cage, patted his younger brother's shoulder, and said with satisfaction, "Not bad, having this idea shows you've grown. I'll leave this task to you. I'm going to take a nap."

  He then yawned.

He had been sleeping past midnight for the past two days and getting up at six in the morning.

The daytime was filled with high-intensity physical labor, and his body was already showing signs of fatigue.

When he woke up, it was already the next morning.

Qin Ziwen opened the daily settlement record.

"You have successfully survived safely in the wilderness for six days, cooperated with the community residents to hunt the male crocodile leader in this watershed, actively participated in setting the traps, and tried raising rabbits. Overall score: 47 points"

"Rewards: [Expansion Card] Blank Expansion Card (Micro) *1, [Building Card] Level 1 Toilet *1, Ground Cage *2, Bow and Arrow Equipment Box *1"

Finally, he got an expansion card again!

There's not enough land at home right now; we can't even gather enough for level 1 farmland.

It has to be said, a 20x20 meter plot of farmland, totaling only 400 square meters, is out of the question anytime soon.

As for the other building, a level 1 toilet...

Qin Ziwen hesitated. Everyone has physiological needs, and with the water cut off and no septic tank in the community, and given the traditionally reserved nature of Chinese people, they either secretly throw it in a bag or find a secluded spot in the wild.

He decided to use the blank expansion card first, choosing the area between the beast cage and the spring!

After all, no one says new expansion areas have to be on the edge.

He activated the miniature blank expansion card; a flash of white light enveloped the entire area. When the light faded, the distance between the spring and the beast cage had increased by nearly ten meters, making the space much larger.

As for the toilet, he needed a 2x2 meter area.

Qin Ziwen looked at the area north of the beast cage.

  He selected to use it.

When the light faded, a neat, square brick house with blue tiles appeared on the spot. It had

blue bricks on all four sides, a wooden door in the middle, and a thick layer of black tiles on the roof.

Pushing open the door, one found the interior walls covered with cement, and a single squat toilet in the center.

The entire toilet was new, with a flush button on the back of the squat toilet.     Qin Ziwen was astonished.

This thing actually flushes? Where does the water come from? It's not scooped from the spring, is it? That's too monstrous; my spring water isn't nearly enough.

He tentatively pressed the flush button.

The next second, the piston at the bottom of the pit suddenly opened, followed by a strong suction, and blue deodorizing liquid flowed out from all four sides of the walls.

The whole process was fast and efficient, like a toilet on an airplane.

Qin Ziwen didn't understand, but he was greatly impressed.

He had thought this level 1 toilet would be a rather old-fashioned latrine, but it turned out to be a small toilet with a modern style, thoughtfully equipped with flushing and other facilities—it was too considerate.

  [Homestead] Building 8, Unit 2, 5-2

  [Area] 298㎡

  [Height] 2.8m

[Buildings] Level 1 Cellar, Granary, Level 1 Animal Cage, Level 1 Toilet

  [Resources] Level 1 Spring

Looking at the homestead panel, Qin Ziwen felt a great sense of accomplishment.

He returned to his bedroom and took out the cage and bow and arrow equipment box.

The fish trap was a small one, with only six settings, each about 50cm long. He'd seen others use it before; it was used to catch small fish, shrimp, or eels in the river, and occasionally, if you were lucky, you could even catch spicy snacks.

The bow and arrow equipment box opened, revealing a 50-pound compound bow and fifteen carbon fiber broad-nosed arrows.

There was also a small instruction manual explaining the drawing posture and precautions.

As the sun rose, a crowd gathered along the riverbank south of the residential area.

Deng Guang had said that the community had spontaneously organized five or six crocodile hunting teams, but so far no one had seen a crocodile.

As a result, some people had become bolder.

Some were fishing, some were catching shrimp, and others were pulling up their trousers to grab eels from the mud.

  "Got one! Got one!"

  a middle-aged man exclaimed excitedly.

His clothes and trousers were covered in mud, as if he'd just rolled around in it.

He held a large, fat eel in his hand; judging by its size, it probably weighed at least six or seven ounces.

A fisherman, who was fishing, finally lost his temper. People had been making noise all morning, and some kids were throwing stones into the river. "Hey buddy, keep your voice down, you're disturbing my fish!" A

middle-aged man who had just caught an eel laughed, not arguing, just shaking the eel in his hand before turning and walking away.

"Sigh, it's hard to fish with so many people. I'm going to check downstream," Deng Guang said, putting away his fishing rod.

There weren't many fish in the river to begin with, and with these people disturbing it, there were even fewer near the bank.

  Xiao Xuemei unusually agreed.

Perhaps the killing of the crocodile leader had emboldened many people in the neighborhood.

In their view, if even such a ferocious crocodile leader could be killed, what was there to fear from the other crocodiles?

Besides, there were so many crocodile-catching teams along the river.

But with so many people on the riverbank, the water became murky, making it difficult to catch fish, shrimp, or anything else.

Qin Ziwen didn't plan to set up the traps here now. First, there were too many people, and second, it would be easy to be spotted. Unless he kept a close eye on the traps, theft was almost inevitable.

It would be best to set them up at dusk when the riverbank was almost deserted, and then collect them early the next morning.

As for the bait, nothing was more suitable than the entrails of the male crocodile hunted yesterday.
