Chapter 24 - Chapter 24 Carpentry Cabin

Chapter 24 Carpenter's Hut

Ultimately, the card fell to Huang Tao.

Because he had the most men.

Compared to the others, whose families could only send two adult males at most, Huang Tao alone had assembled a team of four able-bodied adults, with three security guards constantly by his side.

Moreover, Huang Tao had been very active throughout the hunt for the giant crocodile.

Although the group hadn't explicitly voted for him as leader, he had become familiar with most of them.

Familiarity provided a basis for negotiation.

Plus, after nearly half an hour of fighting, everyone was exhausted.

Three people had died, and many were considering giving up.

In the end, Huang Tao agreed to give everyone present a pound of meat.

Looking at the three corpses on the ground, Huang Tao's expression was somewhat complicated: "Whose family are these three?"

"I know the one in the white shirt, he lives in Building 10, Unit 1, fourth floor."

"This one with the hooked nose seems to be from Building 8, Unit 1, third floor. He seems to be divorced, and he lives alone."

The last victim's face was swollen and bruised, his eyes bulging, and his body covered in muddy footprints.

Dr. Lin checked his pulse and breath, then shook his head regretfully: "Death by suffocation."

Watching this scene, Qin Ziwen felt a mix of emotions. Only three people had died killing the leader crocodile, but in the struggle for the card, the death toll was the same as the crocodile kill, yet the number of injured was even greater.

  Besides the three dead,

many had obvious bruises on their faces and bodies.

Seeing this, Qin Ziwu felt oppressed. He thought of the changes in his brother's family and resolved never to tell anyone their family secret.

These people were fighting to the death for a single card; if they knew his brother had so many cards, there would be no peace.

Thinking this, Qin Ziwu secretly glanced at his brother's expression and found Qin Ziwen's face normal. He couldn't help but admire his brother's deep cunning.

Someone egged him on: "Brother Huang, you got the card? Show us!"

"Yeah, it's our first time seeing something like this. Let us broaden our horizons."

With so many people egging him on, Huang Tao couldn't openly refuse; he knew he couldn't refuse today.

He smiled and said, "Alright, everyone, follow me."

Qin Ziwen was also a little curious; this woodworking hut sounded like a real construction project, unlike the animal cages and cellars he had used before.

The group arrived at Huang Tao's house.

  Unit 1, Building 7, Apartment 701.

Opening the door, Huang Tao went in first, taking out his card.

He then walked around the house several times, prompting the others to urge him on.

Huang Tao explained, "I was just told that using this card requires a 4x4 empty area. I don't have that much space at home. Could a few brothers help me move the sofa and table in the living room?"

The group quickly cleared a 4x4 area in the center of the living room.

The card in Huang Tao's hand transformed into white light and flew out, covering the large area.

This commotion drew gasps of "Wow

!" Finally, when the light dissipated

, a small wooden hut with four walls appeared on the spot. The hut's roof almost touched the ceiling, and it was square.

It was a semi-open design, with three wooden walls and one open side.

Inside was a workbench with a vise, a planer, and a simple saw. On the back wall hung a handsaw, hammer, chisel, plane, wooden ruler, and chalk line.

The scene of the room transforming out of thin air amazed everyone present.

Those squeezed outside the door even stood on tiptoe, saying, "Let me see!"   You'll never believe why I moved to… Sukkur  "How amazing! This carpentry hut actually turns into a carpenter's hut!"

"What else did you expect it to be?"

"Speaking of which, since there's a carpenter's hut, shouldn't we at least give them a carpenter?"

This remark elicited bursts of laughter.

If they could conjure up a carpenter, wouldn't that be like turning

a person into a living being? Huang Tao was also a little disappointed. He also felt that it would be great if he could have one more carpenter. This kind of person he summoned should be considered his "suicide squad." He knew very well that at this stage, if he had an obedient adult male who was also skilled in carpentry, his value would be immense.

Hearing the conversation of the others, Qin Ziwen pondered. He remembered that the information given by the homestead included the existence of a [Recruitment Card].

The name of this card suggested its purpose, so it might be able to turn people into living beings in the future.

After witnessing the use of the carpentry hut firsthand, some people felt much calmer.

Although it was amazing, it wasn't as miraculous as they had imagined.

It was just an extra carpenter's room that took up space.

After satisfying their curiosity, the group returned to the south gate and worked together to pull out the three cars and the crocodile from the bottom of the pit.

Although the crocodile was larger, there were many people involved.

Divided among more than a hundred people, each person only received 10 jin (5 kg) of crocodile meat.

Carrying 17 jin (8.5 kg) of meat, Qin Ziwen prepared to go home with his younger brother.

There was no need to smoke this small amount of meat; while smoking could extend its shelf life, it also lost some of the fresh meat's flavor.

"Hey, young man, wait a minute."

In the neighborhood, an older woman called out to Qin Ziwen.

Looking at the strips of meat Qin Ziwen was carrying, she swallowed hard and said ingratiatingly, "Young men, how old are you? You don't look very old, you're probably not married, right?"

Qin Ziwen stopped warily, his brows furrowing slightly.

Qin Ziwu said impatiently, "What's it to you?"

The woman said, "No, no, it's like this, I'm here to help a neighbor find a match. They have two daughters, the older one has just graduated from university, she's only twenty-four and is preparing for the civil service exam, the younger one is still in high school, a senior this year, about to take the college entrance exam."

"Today during the day, they were observing around the south gate, trying to find good husbands for their two daughters. As parents, they want to be involved. They think you two are a good match."

Qin Ziwu blurted out, "Isn't that selling daughters?"

Qin Ziwen shook his head, "Sorry, we don't have that kind of idea."

He had too many secrets; he couldn't possibly bring a stranger to his house.

Hearing their rejection, the woman wasn't discouraged and patiently said, "How is this selling daughters? Both of their daughters are quite pretty, I've met them, and they're kind and polite. You can go and see them, just to get to know them. If you really don't click, then we can talk about it."

Qin Ziwen waved his hand and left.

Qin Ziwu jogged to catch up with his older brother.

He shook his head, indicating his incomprehension. "Brother, this is too inexplicable. I think it's most likely a scam."

The image of Wang Xiaoli flashed through Qin Ziwen's mind.

It was already the sixth day since they transmigrated.

Even the slowest person should have realized that everyone was trying to adapt to this new world in their own way.

All sorts of schemes and methods, in the end, were all for survival.

  "Perhaps."
