Only when the Omnitrix completely stopped changing did Gwen nervously operate the brand-new old watch.
She gently rotated the dial, and with a faint mechanical sound, the dial popped open.
Silhouettes of alien heroes appeared as virtual projections above the dial.
After a quick check, confirming the existence of a petite, frog-like figure, she finally let out a long sigh, her tense shoulders relaxing.
Before this, to prevent Grey Matter from being replaced, Gwen made slight modifications, locking the 10 initial alien DNA to hopefully keep them from being swapped out.
The most important among them was Grey Matter, after all, as Azmuth's kin, reverse-engineering would be more reliable coming from a Galvan.
Of course, if her recalibrated old watch unlocked Brainstorm, she could also conduct research... but what if it didn't?
What if the newly randomized 10 alien heroes didn't include an intelligent hero?
Then would she have to rely solely on herself to research the old watch?
She'd probably research until she died without figuring anything out.
Although the settings were in place, Gwen was still somewhat uneasy.
So, after the watch completed its recalibration, she quickly checked it.
Fortunately, it was the best outcome.
She had thought that after recalibration, retaining the original 8 alien forms would be lucky enough, but unexpectedly, not only were the original 8 aliens unaffected, but the recalibration even gave her 12 new ones... huh?
"12?!" Gwen's eyes widened, her voice unconsciously rising as she stared at the dial in shock, "Why is it 12????"
Who was added and who was removed from this second season's alien hero lineup??
Could it be... Oh my god! No! My X-Superman!
At this moment, Gwen was somewhat flustered, her breathing becoming a little rapid.
If Brucey were here, she would probably be very surprised.
After all, the little girl had never seen her sister so panicked.
Gwen eagerly scrolled through the virtual projections, her gaze sweeping over the silhouettes of each alien hero, her eyes filled with anxiety and unease.
Of course, she also liked other alien heroes, but they weren't indispensable.
But without X-Superman, for Gwen, it would be equivalent to losing her capital for acting recklessly.
I can choose not to use it, I can hide it, but I cannot not have it.
At least if the elder Waynes, Brucey, and other people she cared about ran into trouble, with X-Superman, she would still have a solution.
And now these strange 12 heroes made Gwen very anxious.
It felt like, "Oh, sorry, X-Superman is too overpowered, so we're giving you a Fat Fish, Mr. Terrible, and Ghostfreak with Zs'Skayr attached."
Don't worry! I won't misuse it! Even if I do use it, I'll enroll in a debate training class first!
All sorts of terrible scenarios flashed through Gwen's mind; the more she thought, the worse it seemed, and she kept switching between alien heroes in her hand.
Finally, upon seeing that familiar figure, Gwen let out a long sigh.
It was a female figure with a well-proportioned physique and three pointed horns on her head.
Although it was just a monochrome 3D projection, and its appearance differed from what Ben Tennyson had seen, its unique aura and characteristic features still allowed Gwen to recognize it at a glance.
Oh my god! My dad!
Hmm? Why does she have waist-length hair?
Oh my god! Mom!!
...And at this very moment, far away on a farm in Kansas.
The bright moonlight spilled over the golden wheat fields, silver-lining the swaying wheat.
Thomas Wayne, going by the name Jor-El, sat in a rocking chair in the yard and suddenly couldn't help but sneeze.
The sneeze was quite loud in the night sky, and after sneezing, Thomas couldn't help but shiver, wrapped in his blanket.
"What's wrong, Tho... dear?" Martha, oh no... Jor-El's wife, Laura El, seeing this, came over, somewhat worried.
Her former refined lady's attire was gone; the moonlight outlined Martha's gentle silhouette in her simple clothes, her eyes filled with concern.
She reached out and felt Thomas's forehead, asking worriedly, "Are you catching a cold? It's chilly at night, let's go inside."
"Probably not." Thomas gently shook his head, a faint smile playing on his lips as he looked up at the starry sky, "Perhaps the girls are thinking of me."
Martha's expression also showed some worry; she then sat in the rocking chair beside Thomas and sighed, "I wonder how Gwen and Brucey are doing in Gotham now, and if Alfred is taking good care of them."
"Don't worry, even without us, Alfred will surely take good care of them."
Martha sighed again, looking at the stars and moon in the sky, as if thinking of something, and suddenly said, "Oh, by the way, Jonathan invited us to help look after their child tomorrow, should we go?"
"Of course!" Thomas agreed without hesitation upon hearing this, "That child is adorable and well-behaved, we certainly can't not go!"
He patted Martha's hand and turned to walk back into the house: "I'll think about what to bring that child, and dear, you charge up the bracelet, wallet, and necklace Gwen gave us."
Martha also followed him into the house, smiling as she walked and said, "Indeed, adorable. If they hit it off with Gwen or Brucey later... although he's a bit young, we'd still support it."
Under the moonlight, the two looked at each other and smiled, their laughter echoing through the quiet farm... Gotham.
"Achoo!" A loud sneeze rang out, making the sneezer themselves pause.
Well, it was a case of joy turning to sorrow.
Gwen helplessly rubbed her nose with a handkerchief, her gaze refocusing on the Omnitrix's projection.
Although the X-Superman on it had long hair in addition to female features, which was a bit different from Ben Tennyson's X-Superman, it wasn't a big deal.
Who cares, as long as there's X-Superman.
After calming down slightly, Gwen sat up straight and began to carefully examine the other unlocked alien heroes.
Familiar figures appeared one by one above the dial; she diligently noted each one down.
Gwen discovered that 10 of the newly added alien heroes were actually the 10 initial alien heroes from the second season of Ben 10.
The two extra ones were also old acquaintances to her.
Benvictor and Stinkfly.
Stinkfly, who should have been one of the initial heroes, but for some reason hadn't appeared in her old watch before.
However, now with Jetray, who has fewer drawbacks, as an aerial unit, she didn't feel a particular need for Stinkfly anymore.
After all, its weaknesses were too obvious.
As for Benvictor... that was a complete surprise.
A species at the top of the food chain, it seems to have even eaten its predators clean.
And for some reason, looking at that eager figure, wanting to eat something, Gwen inexplicably had a bold idea.
So... does the anti-life equation taste good?
I don't know, I want to try it.
