Chapter 666 Childish Means!!
"That's the girl, right? Let me say, Harry, your taste is quite good. That girl is very lovely."
Slughorn said with a smile.
Harry nodded.
He was a little worried that Lini might start crying here.
Because Lini looked as if she might break down at any moment.
He still felt sorry for the girl. She really was innocent.
However, just as Harry was thinking he should go comfort his dance partner, he suddenly saw in shock that Slughorn pulled a figure out of the shadows nearby.
"Oh, Severus, don't hide there peeking. I know you must have seen Harry's reputation and wanted to come reconcile with him.
But I think Darren isn't far away. Maybe you should let Darren persuade Harry.
I've heard about the grudge between you and Harry, so I suggest you let Darren talk to him. There will absolutely be no problem.
I have a good eye for people. Trust my method!"
Harry looked at Slughorn in disbelief.
What on earth was this old man thinking?
How could he conclude that Snape had been peeking at him?
It would make more sense to think Snape was watching Darren. After all, Darren was nearby too.
He had just finished dancing and was not far from them.
Although Harry felt Snape hadn't been looking at either of them at all.
He guessed Snape wanted to do something else.
It was just that Slughorn misunderstood and thought Snape was watching him.
As for Snape wanting to reconcile with him — that was even more absurd.
Snape reconciling with him…
Ridiculous.
Snape's face was full of disgust.
Clearly he was revolted by Slughorn saying he had been peeking at Harry.
"Don't be like this, Severus. I know you like Harry very much. After all, Harry's talent in Potions is truly hard to dislike."
Slughorn praised Harry.
Harry saw Snape's eyes narrow.
It seemed he had discovered something interesting.
"Is that so? I only knew that his brother Darren Potter was a genius in potions. I've never heard that Harry Potter, the savior star, was also a genius."
Slughorn looked as if he had been reminded.
He became extremely cheerful and said, "Speaking of Darren, Severus, you must know that Darren inherited all of Lily's talents.
He is brilliant, handsome, and has an excellent character. I think there is no more perfect child than him!"
Harry saw Snape's expression vanish completely.
With empty eyes, Snape asked coldly, "Is that so? Then it seems the little Potter has truly inherited everything."
"Yes, very much inherited…"
Slughorn was still talking.
Harry was just about to slip away while Slughorn praised Darren when he suddenly saw Filch rushing over.
Filch was holding Malfoy by the ear.
He said proudly, "Professors, look here! I caught this boy sneaking around outside the door, trying to get in without permission!"
Harry looked at Malfoy and almost laughed.
He had never seen Malfoy look so miserable.
Malfoy was obviously furious too.
He shook Filch's hand away.
"I don't have an invitation, so what? I just wanted to slip in. Is that worth detention?"
Filch smiled triumphantly.
"The headmaster said — running around means expulsion!"
Harry gave Filch an approving smile.
Filch raised an eyebrow at him.
Ever since Darren turned him into a wizard, he had been especially friendly toward Harry and the others.
In recent years, Harry had even started giving Filch gifts.
And Filch guarding outside tonight was clearly because he feared someone might cause trouble.
But just when Harry thought Malfoy would not escape punishment, he heard Slughorn say:
"All right, all right, Alastor, it's not a big deal. If the boy wants to come in, let him in!
After all, I knew his grandfather. His grandfather was a fine man, very accomplished…"
Filch looked regretful.
Harry had the same expression.
But he noticed something strange.
Malfoy's face showed not joy, but frustration.
Snape's face showed not indifference, but something mysterious — even fear?
It looked like fear.
But Harry couldn't understand why Snape would react that way.
He immediately wanted to discuss it with Darren.
But when he turned back, he found Darren surrounded by many girls, all seeming eager to dance with him.
He subconsciously glanced at Lini again.
He saw Lini watching Darren surrounded by girls with a strangely motherly… satisfied smile.
At least, it looked like relief…
What kind of hobby was that?
He looked confused.
He had to abandon the idea of consulting Darren and decided to observe Snape and Malfoy himself.
Perhaps because Harry had just looked away, Snape and Malfoy thought no one was watching them.
When Harry turned back, he saw Snape glaring at Malfoy sternly.
"I need to speak with you."
Snape looked furious.
Malfoy looked equally angry.
"I don't need you meddling in my business!"
"But right now, I'm still your Head of House!"
Harry was stunned.
Didn't Malfoy usually cling to Snape?
He didn't expect Malfoy to speak like this today.
Wasn't he afraid Snape would retaliate?
Did he really think that because he bore the Dark Mark, he was untouchable?
Harry thought so.
Then he saw Snape drag Malfoy outside.
He immediately decided to eavesdrop.
He glanced toward Darren again.
Darren was still being pestered by several girls.
There were even lipstick marks on his face.
Lini seemed to hand him a clean handkerchief, signaling him to wipe them off.
Clearly there was no way to pull Darren away right now.
Harry gave up that idea.
So he decided to go alone.
Harry now carried his invisibility cloak everywhere.
He pulled it from his robes, threw it over himself, and slipped out.
There were too many people.
No one noticed he had vanished.
He tried to find Snape and Malfoy.
It wasn't difficult.
Outside the bathroom, he heard their voices.
Harry quickly slipped in, standing behind the door to listen.
Snape sounded furious.
He shouted angrily, "What exactly are you trying to do? Is this how you waste the task given to you by the Dark Lord?
Who do you think you can fool with such childish methods?
Darren Potter has been summoning the house-elves every day to monitor you, and you're still running around recklessly!"
Harry was shocked.
Darren had even arranged people to spy on Malfoy?
