A/n: Gonna be slowly rewriting a few of the old chapters, there is a lot of things that can be improved upon and I wanna smooth the story out some more, hope you enjoy a fresh rewrite.

----------------------------------

As we sat under a tree, my friends brought up the fact that they wouldn't be returning to Kuoh Academy for the third year due to their parents' job relocations. "Will you two come back to visit if possible?" I asked, feeling a bit upset they're being forced to leave.

Jake sighed before speaking. "I'm not sure, man. Our parents' jobs are moving them away from Kuoh, so I don't know when we will back." Henry joined in, making his opinion known. "Yeah, if it were up to me, I'd stay. I love this town; it's where we all grew up," Nostalgia hit us all like a truck, and a wave of memories from our pasts surfaced.

I took a deep breath, wishing them well, hoping to see them again someday. I kept my head low, hiding the tears that were forming in my eyes, but Jake caught on easily, placing his hand on my shoulder. "Don't be sad Y/n, I know you can make more friends." He gave a comforting smile, one which I returned.

"Alright, enough with the mushy stuff. Let's get to class." I laughed at the change in attitude, getting off the ground and making our way towards school. Along the way, I noticed the pervert trio running away, the all-girls kendo club chasing after them with wooden swords in their hands. I chuckled a bit. 'Those idiots, will they ever learn? The girls have had to deal with them for so long it feels normal at this point.'

Jake saw what was happening and snickered, Henry joining him. "Those guys just never learn, do they?" I nodded in response. "Yep. They never do." I shook my head in disappointment but look at the kendo girls, a soft smile on my face until Jake slapped my shoulder, a smirk on his face. "I see you staring at them. Do you like someone there?"

I flushed bright red and sputtered a bunch of gibberish, denying any romantic feelings for the girls, which made the two of them laugh loudly. Jake composed himself enough to continue, saying he understood why I would be staring since the girls treat me like a friend, even defending me from bullies. "You won't be as lonely once we leave. Might even get yourself a girlfriend~" He teased, elbowing my side playfully.

I rolled my eyes and pushed him lightly, telling him to shut up. "You know I don't lust after them, so they treat me like a friend. Plus they give me tips on how to get in shape, we both know I need to anyway." Jake and Henry chuckled, agreeing with me. I check the time on my phone, noting that we should hurry or be late. "Alright, alright, let's go guys. Don't wanna be late." We rushed to class, reaching the door right before the bell rang.

Narrator Pov

Y/n walked home, glancing at the picture on his home screen, one of his family. He wipes a tear away, the memories of his sister's accident flooding back to him. It was a hit and run two years ago, the culprit was caught later on and charged with reckless driving, drunk driving, as well as several other charges. Among the victims of his negligence, was Y/n's sister, who in a twist of fate, was the only one to be in a coma.

He had hoped for the man to be held accountable and serve his time, but unfortunately his parent got a good lawyer, bribed the jury and he was given several months in rehab and community service. This pushed him into a deep depression, during which he neglected his health and gained weight. This made him an ideal target for bullies who mocked his appearance and his sister's condition, worsening his depression. The only comfort being his friends and mother.

After the first year, he saw how much his was doing to help him despite her own grief. He knew he had to take action and began working to improve himself. This led to him becoming acquainted with the Kendo club, later friends. But after the four-month break, he wouldn't see his old friends in his third year. Sending a quick message to mom, saying he will be a bit late for dinner. He stopped at a crosswalk, waiting for the light to change until he heard two familiar voices. Murayama and Katase, both deep in their conversation as they stopped, going on about their day.

"I can't believe we had to deal with those three again, they're always the same. Perverts." Murayama ranted, her voice holding annoyance at the thought of the trio. Katase nodded, agreeing with her but did ask a simple question. "Why do they keep trying? You'd think they'd give up by now, they can't possibly not know how we'll react." Murayama agreed, saying she's asked herself the same thing and just summed it up to them not thinking with their brains. Y/n chuckled a bit, trying his best to remain quiet as to not bother them.

The light changed, prompting Y/n to cross the street, the two girls lagging behind due to their conversation. Y/n was alerted as he heard police sirens blaring nearby, a speeding car turning the corner. Before he could even comprehend the situation, the car was in his vision, heading straight for the girls. Memories of the previous accident flashed through his mind, shouting out for them. "MURAMAYA, KATASE! WATCH OUT!"

Broken out of their conversation, the girls turned their heads towards Y/n, hearing the fear in his voice. Their eyes widened in fear, seeing the car barreling toward them. Fear froze them in place, unable to move. Time seemed to slow, their life flashing before their eyes, tears falling from their eyes. 'We're going to die!' They both screamed in their heads.

But then they felt someone push them out of the way. They tumbled to the ground, their bodies shaking and adrenaline pumping through their veins. They looked up, eyes widening even further as they caught a brief glimpse of Y/n smiling nervously, eyes full of regret. Then, the car made impact, the sound of a body colliding with a metal shell. They felt sick, their bodies shaking uncontrollably, unable to speak or process the situation.

The car swerved to the side, screeching to a halt. The driver, who was clearly drunk, stumbled out of his car, yelling and cursing at the kids. The police swiftly arrested the man while an ambulance was called. Y/n turned his head, ignoring the screams and the ringing in his ears. Seeing the two girls crying their eyes out, he felt his heart ache. "I'm...sorry..." He choked out, blood filling his mouth, coughing it out. His vision faded as he accepted his fate.

Despite feeling like he had just died, the sharp pain from breathing told him otherwise. All he could see was darkness, the ringing in his ears had passed and left a maddening silence, which would soon be disrupted. He felt a presence appear, turning his head the best he could, he saw a figure cloaked in a mystical dark cloak, behind it was a black-blue ring. He couldn't discern any facial features due to the hood covering their face, making it seem like an empty void where their face should have been.

The figure looked down to Y/n, seeming to study his battered and broken body. After a few moments, a voice echoed around, both distant and distorted. Slowly, the voice became clearer and closer. Finally, he heard it clear as day in his mind, the voice sounding both young and mature. "Why would such a being like yourself, sacrifice themselves for two insignificant mortals."

Y/n wanted to berate the entity for calling them that, but all he could do was cough up blood. The entity waited patiently for his reply, Y/n was unsure of how to communicate. A strange sensation filled his mind, seeming to push him toward the answer. 'They are my friends. I care about them.' The entity hummed in thought, seeming to mutter to itself.

"Even when reborn, your soul will still hold these qualities. How intriguing." Y/n was confused, wanting to ask what they meant, but sensation from before took over, making him ask what they were instead. "I am merely an observer, watching the events of several universes unfold. But this one is quite peculiar, I am unable glimpse its future, nor can I see into the past. It is quite infuriating; my curiosity only grows the longer I look."

Y/n felt an intense feeling, one of pity, flow from his being. The entity then spoke again. "I believe we can be of use to one another. I can sense the presence of a powerful being inside you, long dormant. I can give you what is needed to awaken it, and more so you may face whatever this world sends your way."

Y/n wanted to agree, seeing this as a second chance. But the sensation urged him to ask what the 'catch' was. 'And what do I have to do for you?' The entity laughed softly; a tiny ember of emotion being shown. He explained all Y/n would have to do is find anything regarding his universes past, stating that even a tiny fragment would allow him to unlock the full story. He promised that Y/n would keep his freedom and privacy, he only cared about the past and nothing else.

Y/n pondered for a moment, deciding that the benefits outweigh the cons. Before he could answer mentally, the sensation silenced him, taking over his mouth to verbally answer for him. "I see no reason to refuse, we accept your deal." The voice was similar to his own, but deeper and mature. The entity was surprised, now sensing the dormant being he mentioned before.

The entity smirked under the cloak, chuckling to himself. "Excellent, I shall take my leave after restoring your body." The ring behind him glowed brightly, enveloping Y/n and the entity in a bright light. The entity stood tall, towering over Y/n, the hood no longer hiding its features. A pair of white eyes were revealed, a large grin below them. "May this be a start to a fair partnership. You may refer to me as O, Y/n."

With that, the light vanished, the entity, now known as O, going with it. Y/n was surrounded by darkness once again, feeling weightless in this abyss. A glowing screen appeared before him, the text being unreadable before it shifted through several other texts, some resembling runes or glyphs, before settling on a script he can clearly read.

As the screen closed, Y/n woke up in a hospital bed. He felt a little disoriented, but soon shook it off, trying to make sense of his surroundings. "Wh-where am I? Is this a hospital?" His vision was blurred by the light above him, he sat up slowly tried rubbing his eyes, finally noticing the bandages on the left side of his face. He was puzzled for a moment, wondering why he was so calm given the circumstances. 'Could it be part of what O promised to give me? It looked like a scre-'

His thought was cut short as the screen from before returned, jumping a bit in surprise, startling him. 'Whoa! What the hell, can't you wait for a moment?!' He shook his head to compose himself to read the text on it.

[System has been configured and ready for Players use.]

Would you like to view Skills? [Y/N]

'Skills?' He questioned, unsure what it meant. But decided to take the chance and select yes. The menu changed to a new page, revealing three skills. Observe, Gamers Body, and lastly Gamers Mind, which caught his attention.

----------------------------------

Gamers Mind (passive) - Max level

Grants player a serene mind to think calmly. Stops any type of psychological effects. Stops emotions from clouding judgement. Player can turn it off and can be blinded by any emotion when off.

----------------------------------

He browsed several menus, namely Inventory, Shop, Stats, Skills. Now he was on the Quest menu, revealing three tabs: Main quests in orange, Daily quests in blue, and Weekly quests in purple. Checking them in order, he read the main quest first.

----------------------------------

[Main quests]

Awakening.

Conquer the Dungeon. Slay everything within it

Rewards: Skill book, 10 Stat Points, 5 Skill Points, 5 Perk Points.

Failure: Death

----------------------------------

'Well, that's quite the motivation.' He gulped, moving onto his daily quest, secretly hoping it wouldn't have a serious penalty if he fails it.

----------------------------------

[Daily quests]

Resets at end of day at midnight

Defeat 20 monsters 0/20

Rewards: 5 Stat Points

Defeat a boss 0/1

Rewards: 3 Skill and Perk Points

Complete the Dungeon

Rewards: Weapon Box

----------------------------------

Seeing the penalty wasn't as drastic as the main one, he felt a wave of relief. But then his eyes landed on the weapon box, a curious and slightly greedy smile grew on his face. 'Wonder what I can get from it. Actually, would my luck influence that too?' Remembering his luck stat was at 3 he groaned slightly, already knowing it wouldn't be good. 'Well, it could be worse, so I'm not complaining. But three points won't change a lot. If I want to get anything worthwhile, I'd need more.'

As he contemplated the idea, the door opened with a nurse walking in, clipboard in hand before nearly dropping it as she noticed Y/n awake. She rushed out the room, screaming for the doctor to come. Soon enough, a doctor walked in, her heels clicking on the floor as she entered. Y/n stared at the doctor confused for a moment, feeling a sense of familiarity.

If he were to describe her, she was a stunningly attractive woman with a voluptuous figure, sexy hip-length black hair that had bangs hanging on the right side with two ahoges, green eyes, a mole under her left eye, and red round glasses, one earring on her left ear and had very large breast.

She wore a green knitted turtleneck, a tight black mini skirt along with her cross-garter motif stockings, and a white lab coat. A name tag was pinned on the left side of her coat, reading Dr. Chisato Hasegawa. Pulling a chair from the corner, she sat down and gave him a smile that showed her experience as a doctor.

"Finally awake, Y/n? Good, we were worried you might never wake up. Do you feel anything painful?" She asked, her voice full of concern for him. He quickly pushed the strange feeling aside, answering her. "I'm fine, lot better than how I was a few hours ago. Or is it days?" Chisato nodded her head, picking up a stethoscope to check his heartbeat and breathing, Y/n felt like he should be blushing but instead was completely calm, mentally praising his skill for working.

Chisato placed the stethoscope back, pleased with the steady rhythm. "You are very lucky to have survived that accident. I don't know many who would survive a hit like that and live to tell the tale." "Well, dead men tell no tales, right?" He chuckled, trying to lighten the mood. She gave a small giggle before adjusting her glasses slightly. "Your quite calm for someone who just woke up after a month-long coma."

This bit of knowledge made him stare in disbelief. His mind racing with questions. 'I was out for a month?! Oh no, mum must have been worried sick. Wait, what about Murayama and Katase?' Before his panic could go on any longer, he felt a wave wash over his mind, his stress vanishing instantly. He mentally thanked the skill before speaking again. "How bad was I after the accident?"

Chisato hummed softly, grabbing a folder at the foot of the hospital bed. "Quite frankly, it's a miracle you're alive. We've had to do surgery numerous times to fix the major injuries." She places several X-rays on a board, showing him the damage. Several fracture and broken bones were in each X-ray, making him pale at the sight. "As you can see, the damage was quite severe. But they seemed to heal at a much faster rate. Your shoulder for example, it was healing in the wrong position, despite our best attempts."

She placed the next set of X-rays, one showed rib plating that was meant to support his fractured ribs, his shoulder in frame of it as well. The next however showed the ribs had healed on their own, and his shoulder was back in its proper place, the metal plating was gone as well.

"Your body is quite the enigma, it's almost supernatural." Y/n raised his eyebrow, questioning the choice of wording. "Well after that learning about your supernatural healing, would you like to know about your eye, to lighten the mood?" She asked, her lips forming into a smile.

"Yeah, sure, what happened?" He questioned, curious as to what was different about his eye. Chisato hummed softly, slowly unraveling the bandages. "It was badly infected, to the point we considered removing it. But like your body, it began healing quickly." Once the bandages were removed, she held a mirror in front of him, giving him a clear look at his eye.

'Woah, looks different, kinda badass.' Y/n thought, looking at his scarred eye. The scar ran from the top left, across his eyelid and ending near the bottom of his cheek. His right eye had remained E/c while his left seemed to change to a soft blue, almost the color of an ocean. 'Not bad, looks pretty cool.'

Setting the mirror down, Chisato stood up and placed the folder back, turning to face him again. "I called your mother before I arrived, she should be here shortly." As if on cue, the door was slammed open, a woman with silver hair and yellow eyes all too familiar for Y/n. "Hey mom..." He smiled nervously as she looked at him, tears in her eyes. He braced himself for what was too come.

"Y/N!!" In an instant, she crossed the room, nearly tackling him off the bed. He coughed a bit, hugging her back, feeling her grip him tightly. Her tears soaked his shirt, her cries muffled by it. After a few minutes, she calmed down and released him from her death grip, the system screen appeared, showing his Hp was down to one. 'Holy shit, she nearly killed me with that hug!' Y/n let out a breath he didn't know he was holding. "I'm fine, mom. But damn, go easy on me with the bear hugs."

His mother giggled a bit, wiping her eyes dry. "Don't give me a reason to do so then." She playfully batted his arm, which thankfully didn't deal any damage. She sat on the bed, relief and happiness were visible in her eyes as she smiled.

She finally turned to Chisato, apologizing for her emotional outburst. She waved it off, saying it was only natural, and it wasn't a bother, saying she would give them a moment as she had work to do and that they will perform the needed checkups before releasing Y/n.

Once Chisato left, Silva looked at Y/n, her eyes full of worry and regret. "What were you thinking, Y/n. Why would you risk your life like that?" He smiled nervously, saying it felt right, and he moved before he could think. She rolled her eyes before pinching his cheek lightly, asking him to never do that again. Y/n laughed a bit, noticing a bit of sadness in her eyes. He placed a hand on her shoulder, a sympathetic smile on his face.

"I can't promise not to, but I'll try." She shook her head, giving him a smile, a hint of pride was in her eyes. "That's all I can ask, sweetie. But still, what will I do with you." She said, ruffling his hair playfully, causing him to groan and fix it. They spent a few minutes talking, mostly so Y/n could catch up with what had happened while he was unconscious.

To sum it up, the drunk driver was given the right punishment, Murayama and Katase had visited him while he was in a coma. Both apologized to Silve for the trouble, which she quickly dismissed, saying it wasn't their fault. Murayama, surprisingly, had broken down and cried, saying they would have died if he hadn't saved her. Silva soon left, leaving Y/n spare clothes for when he is released.

Y/n opened the system menu, a map of Kuoh appeared, several markings dotted about the map caught his eye. One at his home, nearby shops, and the school in green and blue. However, one marker in the hospital's courtyard piqued his interest enough for him to close the menu and change into the spare clothes, asking for permission to go for a small walk in the courtyard which was already given via Chisato.

Closing the door behind him, he walked to the courtyard, the marker leading him. A gentle breeze greeted him as he entered, glancing at the well-kept garden and a fountain in the center. As he looked around, the system screen appeared.

'So that marker represents a dungeon, ok. I don't have any items and it's better to be prepared.' The screen closed as he turned away, heading to a store marked on his map nearby. Seeing the lights were off, Y/n groaned as he looked around, picking up brick nearby. 'Feel like a thief, but this is an emergency.'

Before he threw the brick, he noticed a rusted key on the underside of the brick in hand. Pulling it out to inspect it, he heard the system ring in his head before the screen showed two notifications.

Luck has increased by 1

[Rusty Key: Can open any low-level door. Single use only.]

Starring with a deadpan expression for a moment, Y/n shrugged his shoulders and used the key, it crumbled apart once turned in the lock, the door effortlessly opening. 'Better then smashing a window.' He quickly went in and grabbed what he would need for the dungeon: food, drink, bandages, and a flashlight. Not wanting to just steal it all, he goes to the counter and leaves enough to hopefully cover the price.

After doing so, he noticed a strange box with a question mark on it. 'Is the Riddler around? Didn't know he left Gotham.' He joked to himself, admitting it was a bad joke, he tries Observe for the first time on the box. The menu appeared with two notifications again.

Luck has increased by 1

[Common Weapon Box]

Rank: D

Contains a random close range and long-range weapon.

'Jackpot!' He thought, rubbing his hands together. 'Well, might as well get the fun part done and over with.' He picked up the box and exited the shop, not wanting to take more then he needs. He made his way back to the hospital, glancing over his stats and what each one does.

Strength - Increases Physical strength, and damage dealt physically.

Endurance - Increases Health, Stamina, Damage resistance. Increases Recovery rate of Health and Stamina.

Agility - Increases mobility, reflexes, and reaction time.

'My stats aren't the best, but I will have to make do. I should open this weapon box before diving in.' He sat on a bench in the courtyard, the weapon box in hand, his finger hovered over the button on the screen. 'Hope my luck isn't gonna screw me over.' He finally clicked the button, the box dissipated as two items appeared in his inventory. Seeing the icons for both, he could easily tell what they were, a machete and a gun. Not wanting to celebrate too early, he used Observe on them both to see the stats.

[9mm Pistol]

Rank: C

"Hey, that's pretty good. Best use the 9mm sparingly, I don't know what I might face further in this dungeon." After organizing his inventory a small bit, he prepared himself to enter. The screen appeared once more, asking if he would like to enter. Just as he went to accept, another screen stopped his action, a surprising notification.
