Jessica's POV
My eyes went wide as I struggled to catch my breath. "What?" I gasped, nearly shouting the word. "Caleb is here? Why would he come?"
"Ma'am, should I ask what brings him by today?"
Through the intercom, Caleb's voice carried that familiar chill that made my stomach drop. "She needs to sign some papers."
"He says you need to sign documents, ma'am," my assistant repeated, her voice trembling slightly.
I understood her nervousness completely. Even through the speaker, his tone could freeze water.
I straightened my shoulders. "Send him up."
The moment I hung up, I spun toward Paisley with panic in my eyes.
"Do I look presentable?" I asked frantically, smoothing down my hair.
She gave me that flat stare she'd perfected. "Exactly like you did when you got dressed this morning."
I nodded quickly. "Right, so still gorgeous." I shooed her away with my hands. "Go on, get out. He'll be here soon and I need privacy with my husband."
