"How did your therapy session go today?" Paisley inquired the moment we stepped into the office.
We had shared the same car during the drive back, yet she hadn't bothered to ask me this question until now.
I remained silent, simply walking toward my desk without offering any response. Exhaustion weighed heavily on my shoulders, and all I wanted was to retreat to the comfort of home. However, the workload seemed to multiply with each passing day, leaving me drained beyond measure.
Several days had elapsed since that painful encounter with Caleb, and not a single word had passed between us since then. But why would there be any communication? I understood with crystal clarity that everything had ended the moment he walked away, yet I had simply stood there watching his retreating figure, doing absolutely nothing to stop him.
"Paisley, would you consider us friends?" The question escaped my lips unexpectedly.
