David's POV
I sensed Caleb's presence before stepping into the bar. My brother preferred lurking in darkness, always had.
"Caleb." My voice sounded raw, scraped against my throat.
"Yeah?" He emerged from the shadows, positioning himself next to me. Without asking, he grabbed the bottle and took a long pull.
"There's something crushing my chest. Like a weight I can't shake. Makes breathing feel impossible. What the hell is that?"
"Beats me, little brother. Could be asthma. Or maybe you're having a heart attack."
"That would actually make sense."
"You reek of sex."
I reclaimed the bottle. "Just experienced the most incredible night of my life."
"So does she."
I stayed quiet.
"Have you lost your damn mind, David?"
The vodka burned as it slid down my throat. I welcomed the pain.
"Possibly. Nothing makes sense anymore." I lifted the bottle in a mock toast.
"This is quality vodka."
