Cornelia's POV
The whispers around me faded into background noise as I concentrated solely on the three men standing before me.
"When will you be able to visit again?" The words slipped out softer than I intended.
The vulnerability in my voice made me cringe internally. I sounded desperate, clingy even. But these past months had transformed my understanding of what it meant to be truly cared for. For the first time in my life, I had people who genuinely worried about my wellbeing.
Only now did I recognize how desperately I had been craving that kind of attention.
David's warm palm cradled my cheek, his thumb brushing across my skin. "We'll return as soon as possible," he murmured, pressing his lips gently against my temple.
He stepped back toward the vehicle. Caleb moved closer, his lips finding the crown of my head in a tender kiss. "Look after yourself."
