David's POV
The agony tearing through my chest felt like someone had carved me open with a rusty blade and filled the wound with molten metal. Every breath was a struggle, every thought scattered, but somehow my body kept moving forward.
Because stopping wasn't an option.
The desperation in Cornelia's voice before she ended our call had sounded so final, so absolute. When I tried calling back and found her phone dead, the rage that consumed me nearly brought me to my knees.
What the hell had happened? What poison had Griffin whispered into her ear? What had that bastard done to her?
I reached the garage with tunnel vision, but the moment I grabbed for my car keys, they vanished from my hand.
"You're in no condition to drive," Colter declared, sliding behind the wheel before I could protest.
"Stop standing there like an idiot!" Caleb snarled when I froze, staring at my brother in shock. "Get your ass in the car!"
