Caleb's POV
Throughout the entire night, Jessica clung to me like her life depended on it, even while unconscious.
She had flat-out refused to return to her own room, latching onto me with the desperation of someone drowning. I had no option but to bring her to bed with me, where she wrapped her arms around my waist like a vise, her face buried against my chest.
Sleep eluded me completely. I lay there staring at nothing, my mind racing in circles. The expression on her face when she'd burst through my door kept replaying in my head. That raw terror, like she was trapped in some hellish nightmare, the way tears had poured down her cheeks and left wet tracks on her skin.
And God help me, but in that moment of pure vulnerability, she had looked absolutely stunning. With those wide, frightened eyes and the tears carving paths down her gorgeous face, her hair wild and untamed around her shoulders. She was breathtaking, and I couldn't force myself to look away.
