Cornelia's POV
"David!" The word tore from my throat as I launched myself toward him. His strong arms caught me, and we both collapsed to our knees, holding each other with desperate intensity. "Thank God, David!"
"My rose," he breathed against my hair, his lips pressing kiss after kiss to the crown of my head. His voice trembled like autumn leaves. "My precious rose."
Tears streamed down my face as I buried myself against his chest, my entire body trembling as I whispered his name over and over like a prayer.
He was here. Solid and real and human in my arms. The moon still hung in the sky somewhere above us, yet he remained in his human form.
It worked. Whatever we had done, whatever bond we had forged, it had worked. We were connected now.
I lifted my head from his chest and cradled his face between my palms, blinking through my tears to see him clearly.
