Epilogue Of Book One
The video call connected, and David's face filled my screen. Wind tousled his dark hair as he grinned at me, that familiar warmth spreading through my chest.
"Hey, sweetheart," he said, his voice carrying that lazy confidence I adored.
"Hi," I replied, settling into my chair and letting my bag drop to the floor.
"How's my beautiful human doing?"
I let out a long breath. "She's missing her man terribly and feeling a bit lonely."
"Hold on there. You were the one who practically forced me to get out and live my life instead of following you around like some lovesick puppy. You used emotional manipulation, if I recall correctly."
The memory made me smile. That night felt like yesterday. We had just finished making love, our bodies still intertwined and glistening with sweat, when I had whispered against his skin, "You should go see the ocean."
