The morning air in the Guardian Quarters felt charged with anticipation as Herbert surveyed his assembled team. Before him stood both active Guardians and those preparing to transition out of service, their faces reflecting a mixture of determination and uncertainty.
"Good morning," Herbert addressed the group, his voice carrying the weight of command. "You all took an oath to shield the Royal family from harm. Today, I'm offering each of you the chance to prove that commitment, even if the greatest danger you'll face is a paper cut."
A few nervous chuckles rippled through the assembled Guardians, but Herbert could see the tension in their shoulders, the way their hands instinctively moved toward their weapons. This wasn't a typical assignment.
He methodically divided the men and women into three tactical units. Captain Ricardo would lead the first team, Philip commanded the second, and Herbert would personally oversee the third group.
