Chaim's POV
While Mom spoke with Ward, my attention remained fixed on the pack leadership. The Alpha's discomfort was obvious, but the others displayed genuine grief across their faces.
"Dad, we're short someone," I said, catching his eye. A knowing smirk crossed his features.
"Exactly right, Son. The Pack doctor is missing. Alpha Russell, would you mind calling him to your office?" Dad's request seemed casual, but I caught the subtle shift in Alpha Russell's expression.
Dad had planned to break whatever Alpha command might be controlling Andrews, the Pack doctor. As one of two people required to send reports to the Palace, any command keeping him silent would explain the leadership's unified response to Ward's story.
The Gamma opened the door moments later. "You requested my presence, Alpha Russell."
Andrews's eyes widened when he spotted us in the office. His gaze settled on Alpha Russell with unmistakable disgust.
