Our convoy rolls toward the Pack border with our SUV taking point. I need to gauge whether Alpha Russell actually briefed his Warriors about the new Royal protocols, or if he's chosen to ignore the mandate entirely.
"Anyone spotting backup Warriors?" I call out, scanning the checkpoint ahead where a single guard stands alone at his post.
Multiple voices confirm what I already suspected - this Warrior is working solo, which tells me everything about this Pack's preparedness.
I lower my window as we approach. The guard's eyes dart between our Royal insignia and my face, clearly wrestling with confusion and recognition.
"I'm assuming you were present when the Elder briefed your Pack about the Royal policy changes?" My question hits him like a physical blow, his expression shifting to complete bewilderment.
"What Elder? What briefing?" His response makes my blood simmer while Leo frantically scrolls through my tablet.
