Philip intercepts me as I climb the stairs toward the Beta floor, his expression serious enough to make me pause mid-step.
"Captain, could we talk for a minute?" he asks, glancing around the empty hallway.
The timing feels deliberate. In just a few hours, I'll be heading to the Palace with my Mates to spend precious time with my family before tomorrow's chaos unfolds. Before the entire spectacle descends upon us.
"Absolutely. The living room should give us privacy," I reply, gesturing toward the Beta floor that stands completely vacant.
Something in his tone tells me exactly what this conversation will cover, though I refuse to assume anything. We settle into the living room after grabbing drinks from the kitchen, the silence stretching between us like a taut wire.
"We're relocating again, aren't we?" Philip's question cuts straight to the heart of things, and I give him a confirming nod. "Will Griffin be able to come with us?"
