Lee Yeon Eden, stop talking nonsense.

33__o212 Oppa, please...

twenty.five Are you starting to pull that "I'm an artist now, not an idol" crap too? Get a grip—you're an idol.

daydreeeam1 Eden, let's not lose our original intention ㅠㅠ

Yoon Eden's Original Intention Search @ReveluvUJ

Should I start a thread hating on Reve's Yoon Eden?

I was already pissed off to death because of today's fan signing, but seeing this Instagram post is really pushing me over the edge.

Yoon Eden's Lost Innocence @ReveluvUJ

Eden, do you really think I spent ₩200 just to stare at your dead fish eyes and listen to the "Oh, Really?" medley? ㅋㅋ

Reve's comeback song is trash again, but the song your agency's other group released—with your name on the lyrics and composition—is a banger? Is the copyright money that sweet? Do you think your fans are pushovers?

Danma @danma11

I brought a headband, and he told me right to my face it was too tacky to wear. ㅠ Is that really something you say to a fan?

Yoon Eden's Lost Innocence @ReveluvUJ

Oh, that was you, sis? Wow ㅋㅋ When I heard that, I thought he'd gone completely insane ㅋㅋㅋ

Why would I use a hashtag? Yoon Eden, that art-obsessed bastard, needs to get his head out of his ass and remember his roots.

Has he completely forgotten his days as a struggling idol, living in a dingy basement dorm?

Ilmong Sina @daydream_sina

Hey, guys, it looks like Eden might not renew his contract?

At the fan signing, when someone asked him to spoil the concept for his next song, he said, "Hmm, I'm not sure if I'll even be around then."

Five Stars Reve @fivestar_dream

What the fuck is this now?

"Wow, you did it, Yoon Eden. You even got an interview with Star Magazine."

Sitting in the chair, I glanced around the brightly lit studio and let out a sigh of admiration.

"Yehyeon's 직캠 went viral, causing your song to climb back up the charts. How did you feel when that happened?"

"Honestly, even when the song first charted, I couldn't quite believe it was real. I kept asking the members, 'Is this really our song?' until they finally snapped, 'How many times are you going to ask?' Ha ha."

Although the interviewer's focus was on Seo Yehyeon, the group's eldest member and visual center—the one who single-handedly revived our group from the brink of 망돌 oblivion with his looks—I didn't feel particularly resentful.

Taking the bus was always the easiest way to make money, right? Thanks to that, I've earned enough to get by.

Reve, the five-member boy group I lead, was approaching its contract renewal after seven years.

Reve had accumulated many nicknames:

The Miracle of the Small Agency, 직캠돌 (직캠 Idol), The Legend of the Comeback, Seo Yehyeon and the Kids, and so on.

After our debut album and follow-up single flopped spectacularly, we were smoothly treading the path of 망돌 (failed idol), where even riding the subway, no one recognized us.

Just when we were on the verge of disbanding, Seo Yehyeon's 직캠 from an event saved us.

Though our subsequent releases didn't become massive hits, Reve managed to climb to the level of a second-tier idol group. Now, when people hear our name, they'd say, "Ah, those guys?"

As expected of a small agency, they lacked even a shred of business acumen. Even when opportunities came knocking, they were too busy squabbling with their artists to seize them, resulting in public attention being focused solely on Seo Yehyeon.

I'd bet my new Cheongdam-dong apartment that if you asked anyone about our group, they'd only name Seo Yehyeon before clamming up.

"Mr. Eden, Reve is already celebrating its 7th anniversary. As the team leader, do you have any words for your fans?"

Toward the end of the interview, I grinned confidently and delivered my prepared response to the closing question.

"Thank you for these past seven years. Now, I'm going to pursue the music I've always wanted to create without restraint. From now on, you'll see me not as Reve's Eden, but as producer Yoon Eden."

Four pairs of shocked eyes turned to me. The interviewer, visibly flustered, hastily wrapped up the interview.

"Did you really have to say that during our 7th anniversary interview?" Gyeon Hajun asked, his tone reproachful.

I picked at my ear and replied nonchalantly, "Well, it's not like I could lie in an official interview and say we'll keep seeing each other, right?"

"Haah, Eden. That's not what I meant."

"Most of them are Yehyeon Hyung's fans anyway. They'll probably just read his part and skip the rest."

Gyeon Hajun, his mouth twitching as if he wanted to say more, finally turned away with a look of exasperation.

"Seriously, why are they overreacting like this when they already know I'm not renewing my contract?"

As I grumbled loud enough for everyone to hear, Ryu Jaehee, the youngest member of the team, snapped back, "It's not about the contract, it's about your attitude toward the fans! You're so clueless, you'd eat common sense for breakfast!"

"Hey, how many fans do I even have?"

"Hyung, you have the second-most fans after Yehyeon Hyung! Why would they choose someone like you over Yuje-nim, who's amazing at fan service?"

Ignoring the grumbling maknae, I stretched, yawned, and headed for the van.

"If you're going to write a withdrawal statement, hurry up, Hyung. Your birthday's coming up soon."

Ryu Jaehee's advice from behind earned only a shrug.

What does my birthday have to do with anything? And it'll be in the magazine interview anyway, so why bother?

The day the magazine featuring Reve's 7th-anniversary interview was released, the youngest member silently handed me his phone in the car on the way back from our schedule. I was hunched over, grumbling as I typed my withdrawal statement for Instagram and the official fan cafe.

My eyes flicked down to the screen, and I saw my name trending frequently on social media.

Reve♥ @Reve_onlyone

I genuinely don't understand... Why did I have to learn about your withdrawal from trashy tabloids and magazines before hearing it from you directly?

I kept hoping it wasn't true, defending you and believing it couldn't be real until I heard it from your own lips. But is this all my faith was worth? If you cared even a little about your fans, you wouldn't have done this.

I won't stop you from pursuing the path you want, but I can't support you either.

Go ahead and make all the real music you want from now on. But at least apologize to Daydream before you leave.

Quitting the fandom @Tlqkfeden

I'm so pissed. Keeping his mouth shut until his birthday, then revealing his departure only after receiving fan support? What else would you call that but fan deception?

Eden, do you think your fans are just your cash cows? ㅋㅋㅋ

XL Hamster Yuje @hamzziUJae

The leader shits all over our 7th anniversary and then just leaves.

The remaining members who endured and tolerated him for seven years are saints. How many times did he act like a selfish asshole on our own reality show? Seriously, you can only defend someone so much.

I scrolled through the posts demanding my apology with detached indifference.

"Seriously, it was just something I mentioned during an official schedule. Why are they getting so worked up? You'd think I took a birthday gift and ran off with it. Fucking useless gift anyway."

As I muttered this with a deep frown, the youngest member snatched my phone from my hand and snapped in a sharp voice, "Don't you remember when we were a struggling group and couldn't even get a single fan letter, let alone gifts? Please, Hyung, find your roots again."

"What's the point of finding my 'original intention' now? I'm quitting the idol life anyway."

I shrugged and replied nonchalantly, causing the youngest member's face to twist in frustration.

"I'm not helping you anymore. You can post your apology statement yourself."

"Apology statement? Not a position statement?"

"Hyung, you're hopeless. You didn't used to be like this."

The youngest member sighed deeply and turned his head away from me. In the suffocating silence of the van, I scratched my cheek awkwardly.

Ever since I announced my withdrawal in a magazine interview, the other members—except for the youngest—had started treating me like I didn't exist. I suspected they were still upset that I had unilaterally revealed the failed contract renewal negotiations during the interview.

"Are you all going to ostracize me just because I'm leaving the group?"

Now even the youngest member, for reasons unknown, seemed to be sulking, making the atmosphere in the car even more awkward.

"Hyung, drop me off in front of my place," I said to the road manager, leaning back in my seat.

The Cheongdam-dong apartment, where I had finally moved in today after arranging the furniture a few days ago, had been purchased with my settlement money and the substantial royalties from my copyrights.

Of course, Reve's share of those royalties was practically nonexistent. The bitter dispute with the agency over this matter could fill an entire day's worth of conversation, so I'll set that aside for now.

Taking on side jobs as a composer and producer had been a stroke of genius. Without that, I would never have been able to afford my own place in my lifetime.

The flood of CF offers and love calls almost exclusively went to Seo Yehyeon, the eldest member, as the company had hoped.

After a long drive, the car stopped in front of an apartment building in Cheongdam-dong.

"We have a schedule tomorrow too, so don't be late."

"Yeah, got it. See you tomorrow," I replied casually to the road manager before getting out of the car.

I gazed around my beloved new home with teary-eyed emotion before collapsing onto the bed in the bedroom, a soft chuckle escaping my lips.

"So this day finally came."

From that dilapidated, godforsaken basement dorm to a Cheongdam-dong apartment—this is the very definition of a success story.

After showering, I lay back down on the bed. I needed to get to sleep early to prepare for tomorrow's final official schedule.

Now I can finally live without battling my agency, making the music I truly want to make.

Ding, ding, ding.

A faint notification sound chimed.

Your 30,000th fan is disappointed in you.

You have met the conditions.

Something kept flashing before my eyes, but I dismissed it as exhaustion-induced hallucinations and drifted off to sleep.

"...Hyung. Eden Hyung!"

The voice, which I'd heard for seven years and grown so accustomed to that I was now sick of it, rang loudly in my ear.

I had clearly moved out of the dorm and never given the password to my new place to that brat.

So why was the youngest member's voice ringing so clearly not just through the phone, but right above me?

"What the fuck? You little shit, how did you get the password to my place?"

The curse had barely left my lips when a ding struck my ear.

At the same moment, my body jolted as if shocked by static electricity. I gasped at the sharp pain, wincing.

Thinking it might be a phone notification, I groped around the mattress for my phone when a square, translucent blue window popped up before my eyes.

Profanity detected.

Beginner's Depth -2

"Argh! Fuck, what the hell is this?!"

Profanity detected.

Beginner's Depth -2

The status window displayed the exact same words as before, not a single character different.

Before I could even register the stinging sensation again, a chill ran down my spine. The only explanation for these hallucinations was mental illness.

Should I book a consultation at a psychiatric hospital right away?

I frantically patted my face, wondering if this was some kind of farewell prank, but unfortunately, there was no VR headset or anything of the sort on my face.

"What's wrong, Hyung? Did you lose your mind from debut nerves?"

Uh, I think I might have lost my mind a little.

But what the hell are you talking about? We've been debuting for years! Why would we debut today?
