Chapter 479 - Sneaking into the Base

In the base in the early morning, Major Cocker stretched his neck and heard a cracking sound, making him wonder if he would twist his neck in the next second.

He had been working all day and was extremely tired. Originally, he didn't need to work late into the night, but His Excellency Shevic, who was in charge of commanding the Sea fleet tonight, suddenly returned and decided to advance the plan to raid Pritz Harbor.

Although the item, which had not yet been officially announced by the higher-ups, allowed the fleet to quickly reach the waters near Pritz Harbor, there was still some distance to Oak Tree Island.

Therefore, he needed to formulate a precise route to save as much travel time as possible, in order to achieve the goal of a surprise attack.

For this, Major Cocker worked until now, during which he didn't even have time to drink water, but he finally completed his mission.

He rolled up the route map and sent it to his superior's office, then dragged his tired steps back to the dormitory.

As soon as he entered the dormitory, he threw himself onto the bed. Within a few seconds, he had fallen into a peaceful dream.

Cocker had a dream; he dreamed of returning home, of his beautiful wife and adorable son, playing on the grass in the brilliant sunshine. Everything was so wonderful.

Unconsciously, Cocker's dream changed. He vaguely found himself in a gloomy office and heard faint laughter.

He saw a tall figure with his back to him, wearing a Feysac Navy uniform. The person turned around, and Cocker saw a burly man over two meters tall.

His golden hair was combed back, his nose bridge was high, and his emerald eyes gleamed with madness. His chin was wide, and he had a thick beard.

This was the supreme commander of the base, His Excellency Shevic!

Cocker, like an observer, quietly watched Shevic set up an altar, not knowing to whom he was praying, then his voice became clear as he said: "...We will attack Oak Tree Island tomorrow morning. Our airship formation will cooperate with this operation to bomb Backlund. Respected Lord, due to this operation, Feysac will send most of its Soldiers out of the country, which will inevitably lead to a domestic troop vacuum. This will be an opportunity, an opportunity to destroy the Feysac Empire!"

Immediately, various thoughts surged from the depths of Cocker's heart, finally forming a thought etched into his mind: His Excellency Shevic has a problem!

Next, Cocker's dream changed again. He dreamed of a great fire, raging flames burning down his home, his wife and son lying on the scorching earth.

In the flames, he seemed to see Shevic laughing madly, the demigod seemingly appreciating his masterpiece.

Before Cocker could wake up in alarm, his dream began to scatter, no longer presenting specific images, but the thought 'His Excellency Shevic has a problem' became increasingly clear.

In the Major's dormitory, a phantom leaped out of his body. It leaped into another room, into the dream of another mid-level military officer...

The 'Goshkov' was a sailing battleship, and also the fleet flagship anchored in this bay. It had been in service for over ten years and was still well-maintained.

At this time, although it was late, there were still Feysac Navy Sailors on duty on the deck. Therefore, when a burly figure boarded the deck via the gangway, the Soldiers on watch immediately noticed Shevic's arrival.

Boatswain Braver quickly stepped forward to salute: "Your Excellency, it's so late, why are you..."

"Inspection."

Shevic directly interrupted the Boatswain. The sense of authority emanating from the demigod made Braver lower his head deeply, not daring to meet the gaze of this respected Your Excellency.

Shevic walked towards the cabin with a dignified and serious expression, neither fast nor slow: "Take me to the ammunition depot. I want to inspect it myself to ensure that tomorrow's operation will not have any errors."

"Yes, sir."

The Boatswain had no doubts and quickly led the way, taking the base's supreme commander to the flagship's ammunition depot. Along the way, the authority emanating from Shevic made the Boatswain not dare to look back.

If the Boatswain had looked a few more times, or observed carefully, he would have noticed that the 'His Excellency Shevic' in front of him was barely two meters tall, a slight difference from the real Shevic.

This was, of course.

Because the current Shevic was transformed by Lex using the 'Thousand-Faced Traveler' and 'Illusion' Charm. Of course, there would be a slight difference from the real Shevic.

It was just the sense of authority radiating from Lex that made the Boatswain not dare to look directly, without suspicion.

That sense of authority came from the 'Ninth Law' Charm given by Amyrius. Before the operation, Lex had tried to inject his energy into the Charm. He originally only wanted to familiarize himself with the usage of this Charm, but he accidentally discovered that injecting a small amount of energy into this Advanced Charm would actually release a sense of authority similar to Amyrius.

Therefore, Lex gradually came up with an idea and formed a plan on his way to the base.

In front of the flagship's ammunition depot, Soldiers were guarding. When they saw the Boatswain and Lex, disguised as Shevic, they immediately saluted.

Lex clasped his hands behind his back, mimicking Shevic's demeanor, and calmly glanced at the Boatswain. While monitoring at 'Golden Spring Villa' tonight, Lex had observed Shevic a lot and knew that he was the type who was sparing with words and taciturn.

At that time, he was only acting out of a 'Hunter's instinct, starting from gathering intelligence, but he didn't expect that this 'intelligence' could be put to use now.

Being looked at by Lex, Braver quickly shouted: "Open the door, Your Excellency wants to personally inspect."

How could the Soldiers suspect? They immediately opened the door to the ammunition depot.

Lex took a step forward and said calmly: "I can go in by myself."

Braver was also happy not to have to follow this Your Excellency, constantly enduring that invisible pressure, and quickly agreed, stepping aside.

Lex entered the warehouse, walking past rows of wooden shelves and boxes of shells. When he reached the depths of the warehouse and confirmed that he would not be seen, Lex pulled out a box of matches and threw it into a box of shells.

He walked around the warehouse, leaving a few boxes of matches, then calmly left.

"You have done very well, I am very satisfied. The ammunition depot is an important area on the ship, you must guard it strictly and not allow unauthorized personnel to enter the warehouse, to avoid accidents."

Lex mimicked Shevic's tone, calmly glanced at the guards, said a few encouraging words, and then left.

Taking the flagship's Boatswain, Lex continued to use Shevic's identity to inspect the ammunition depots of other warships. In those ammunition depots, he also left boxes of matches.

After he had inspected about ten warships, Lex returned to the 'Goshkov', back to the flagship. Boatswain Braver thought that this Your Excellency had other instructions, but then he saw that this Your Excellency suddenly burst into flames, with raging fire.

For a moment, the Boatswain's mind went blank, not knowing what this respected Your Excellency was going to do.
