Chapter 124 - Colorful Candy House

"November 16th. I feel I'm almost ready to conduct that outlandish experiment. I wonder what kind of wonderful things will happen. I'm full of anticipation."

"Unknowingly, I've lived in this world for forty years. Time is truly terrifying; it slowly changes a person. For example, my habits, my language, and my way of thinking are becoming more and more like the people of this world."

Lex silently read these words and couldn't help but sigh. The Great Emperor was truly a person brave enough to try new things. He wondered what kind of experiment he was preparing at the time.

He wanted to continue reading, but the next piece of information had already jumped to other matters.

"August 27th. I know my enemies are gathering. Fosac, Loen, Feynapotter. They are like rats in a gutter, thinking that by crawling into a sewer I can't see, they can escape my sight and conspire to unite against me? Interesting. I hope they can give me some surprises."

"August 28th. The ship searching for the Land Abandoned by God still has no news. I hope they are alright, damn this storm!"

The Land Abandoned by God?

What kind of place was that? Since the Great Emperor was searching for it, it shouldn't be a simple place.

"January 10th. Sonia Island is almost here; we should arrive tomorrow. I heard this island is called the Ancient Elf Island. Are there still elves on the island now? I wonder what elf women taste like. Of course, this question will never have an answer. Probably?"

"March 29th. The little one is so cute; the more I look, the more she resembles me. She inherited all my good qualities. I need to give her a name. What should it be? Hmm, I really want to give her a Chinese-style nickname."

Oh? The Great Emperor also had a daughter? He didn't write her name in the diary, which was a pity.

Could the Great Emperor's daughter still be alive now? This was very likely. As a descendant of Emperor Roselle, she must also be a Beyonder. With her father's support, becoming a high-sequence powerhouse shouldn't be difficult.

Lex temporarily put down the notebook and sighed, "No matter in which world, the resources of the original family are very important."

He turned to the last page of the notebook, which contained only one entry.

"October 11th. Young Miss Matilda was so brave on another battlefield. No, next time I must make her feel what male prowess is! As the protagonist of this era, I must never lose on any battlefield!"

So the Great Emperor was defeated on another battlefield? That's quite rare. If the Great Emperor knew that his diary would later be read by Klein and me, he probably wouldn't have recorded these 'great achievements,' right?

After reading the three pages of notes, Lex carefully put them away, planning to take them out to show his 'value' when praying to the copper mirror in a few days.

Night arrived as scheduled.

Tonight, Lex and Cromwell had agreed to go together to deal with the 'Criminal' named Meyers. Just in case, he brought all his magical items, including the 'thief's finger' and the 'Flute of the Dead,' before changing his disguise and leaving the hotel.

Lex first went to a safe house, created some signs of life, and then arrived at Mink Street.

In an alley, Lex saw the Arbiter, who was crouching behind a trash can, watching the candy store across the street.

Although Mink Street was not as lively as Halls Street, there were still many pedestrians, and occasionally police would appear.

"It seems we need to invite Mr. Meyers to a relatively quieter place."

It was still early, so Lex was not in a hurry to act. He chose to observe the surroundings first, finally sweeping his gaze towards the alley next to the candy store.

"It's indeed not suitable to act inside the store. If the battle affects passersby, we'll be in trouble."

Cromwell took out his pocket watch and glanced at it, saying, "According to my observations during this period, Meyers closes the store at nine o'clock and then goes home."

"We can act at his home."

Lex shook his head, "No, for a Beyonder, his home is his home ground. He wouldn't be unprepared on his home ground. The difficulty of acting there might be even higher than in the store."

"At least, he wouldn't expect to be attacked on Mink Street, in his own store."

The Arbiter looked at him, "Then what do you mean?"

Lex's lips curved slightly, "I'll go do some preparatory work. You keep an eye on him here. If you see me walk into the store, you go ambush in that alley."

"I'll try to drive Meyers into the back alley, where we can fight without worrying about harming passersby."

Cromwell nodded, "Try not to kill him. I hope to get answers from him about some things that happened back then."

Lex made no guarantees and decided that if Meyers proved too dangerous to capture alive, he would decisively kill him.

He pressed his hat, retreated into the alley, and then circled to the other side of the street to enter the main street.

He naturally turned into the alley behind the candy store, first observed the surroundings and the scattered debris in the alley, and then began to set traps.

"Seeing the candy store reminds me of Young Miss Martha. I wonder if they're doing well recently?"

"Young Miss Martha's chest is really big… Bah, bah, what am I thinking? It must be influenced by the Great Emperor's diary."

After casually setting seven or eight traps, some of which were linked, Lex clapped his hands in satisfaction, sincerely thanking those who threw random junk into the back alley.

Perhaps Meyers himself was among them?

Lex checked his equipment, confirmed the two remaining Charmss, and then returned to the main street. He glanced at where the Arbiter was hiding, then pushed open the candy store door.

The bell on the door rang, its clear sound echoing through every corner of the small shop, causing a man wearing an apron and tidying up to look up.

"Welcome to 'Colorful Candy House,' sir, please feel free to look around."

The man was in his early thirties, with short brown hair styled energetically, fair skin, and deep brown eyes beneath two light brown eyebrows. A smile played on his lips. If Lex hadn't known his identity beforehand, it would have been difficult to associate this warm, smiling man with a 'Criminal.'

Lex looked around at the colorful candies in glass jars, "You have so many varieties here."

"Yes, sir." Meyers stood up, "We have soft candies, hard candies, and unique fruit juice candies made from boiled fruit juice."

"Good. Do you have chocolate?"

"Of course."

Meyers walked to a cabinet, pulled open a drawer, and took out an unwrapped piece of chocolate, "Who doesn't love chocolate, right?"

Lex cleared his throat, "I heard your chocolate here is quite special. It seems your chocolate is made from people."

He added, "Oh, right, dead people."
