Chapter 109 - Next Time

"I did leave too hastily the day before yesterday."

Lex quickly pulled out a handful of fresh flowers he had hidden behind his back: "So, I'm here to apologize today."

Helen was stunned, her gaze falling on the bouquet of flowers. Then, the resentment on her face slowly disappeared, and the corners of her mouth gradually turned upwards.

She walked over, took the flowers, and closed her eyes, inhaling their fragrance for a while: "For its sake, I forgive you."

The woman, in a much better mood, placed the flowers into a vase and looked back at Lex: "You didn't just come to apologize, did you?"

Of course not, madam. I want to see your bedroom.

Naturally, such words could not be spoken directly.

Lex didn't want to waste time and said, "Could you show me around? I'm actually thinking of moving, and I think the houses in the North District are quite good. I'm wondering if their layouts are all similar."

"You want to move here?" Helen's eyes lit up, and more smiles bloomed on her face, "No problem, I'll give you a tour."

These terraced houses weren't very large, but they had many rooms. The first floor had a living room and dining room, a guest room, a kitchen, and a washroom.

The second floor had the master bedroom, a sunroom, two washrooms, and a large balcony.

As for the study, it was originally a guest room, but Helen had renovated it.

Led by this enthusiastic woman, Lex almost toured every room in the house, finally arriving in front of a room on the second floor.

Helen looked at the man beside her with a hint of anticipation: "This is my bedroom, would you like to see it?"

"If it's convenient, of course I don't want to miss it," Lex added in his heart, "Besides, the mirror I want to buy is in this room, so I must go in."

Helen bit her lip lightly and said, "The room is a bit messy, you can't laugh at me."

She opened the door.

The master bedroom had good lighting. The window faced the alley behind rather than the main street, so it wouldn't be too noisy when sleeping at night.

As soon as Lex entered the room, he immediately saw the mirror Richard had mentioned, which made him ignore the clothes casually tossed on the bed.

This mirror was antique in style, with several cracks on its frame. Its left side was decorated with four gems, while the right side only had two.

One of the gems on the left was missing.

Bang.

Lex heard the sound of the door closing, turned his head, and saw Helen closing the window again and drawing the curtains.

Wait, madam, what are you doing?

"Hurry up." Helen walked over and pushed Lex hard, trying to push him onto the bed, but she herself stumbled back a few steps.

She looked at Lex in surprise: "You're stronger than I imagined."

But then, with hidden joy, she said: "Come on, we have five minutes, no, ten minutes."

"In ten minutes, Maria will be up to clean the room."

As she spoke, she kicked off her shoes and let down her hair, instantly becoming charming and alluring.

"Wait!"

Lex quickly called out to her.

Now was not the time for such things.

Besides, your ex-boyfriend might be peeping from somewhere!

Helen froze for a moment, then looked at him somewhat indignantly: "What, you don't want to?"

"No!"

Lex's mind raced, searching for a way that would neither embarrass Helen nor lead to a 'disastrous' event.

A few seconds later, he said with utmost seriousness: "Ten minutes isn't enough, the time is too short."

Helen was startled, then showed a relieved expression: "You're right, you're so strong. Then I'll send Maria home; her work can wait until tomorrow."

"No, no, no." Lex quickly stopped her, "I still have to go back to the company later, and it's daytime now."

Helen seemed to remember something, holding her forehead and saying, "Alright, I just remembered that I have to go out later too."

"Then, next time?"

Lex quickly nodded: "Definitely next time."

Then he looked at the bronze mirror: "This mirror is very similar to the one at my home."

"Really? You like antiques too?"

Helen took two steps forward, looking at the mirror and saying, "Remember that exciting and tense night? The day after I signed that contract, I bought it at a small antique auction."

Lex sighed and said, "It reminds me of my wife, my Jennifer. When she was alive, she would meticulously dress up in front of a mirror like this every day. After she died, I buried that mirror with her."

Helen gasped softly, then said, "I am very sorry."

Lex shook his head, feeling that the groundwork was almost complete: "Could you part with it? I've always wanted to buy a similar mirror to hang at home, but I haven't had any luck."

"No problem."

Helen readily agreed: "If you like it, I'll give it to you."

That won't do. If you give it to me, your ex-boyfriend will probably demand the 'Sun' Charms back.

"No, no, in our hometown, mirrors cannot be given as gifts. Even if it only sells for a penny, it must be brought home through a transaction," Lex said with a serious expression.

Helen was half-skeptical: "Really? Then just give me a penny."

"How can that be?"

In the end, Lex paid her 30 pounds.

As he left, he wrapped the mirror in a cloth and, with Helen seeing him off, came to the porch.

Helen blinked and whispered, "I really hope you can move here soon. It would be even better if you lived next door."

Lex smiled without speaking, nodded, and bid farewell.

It wasn't even evening when he returned to the hotel. Lex took out the mirror, preparing to appraise it. If this was truly an item from the Fourth Epoch, there was a high probability he could use it as a medium to contact Klein.

"What did you bring a mirror back for?"

Inside the birdcage, the parrot, imagining itself as a Dragon, leaned forward: "Are you planning to look in the mirror? Are you starting to go into heat?"

I want to pluck all your feathers!

Lex didn't intend to pay attention to it, but decided to throw it into the washroom.

"By human standards, you're considered an adult, so it's normal to start going into heat."

"When I was still a bird, I also paid great attention to my appearance, grooming my feathers to be clean and beautiful every day."

"What are you doing? No, don't throw me into the washroom. Damn it, you're trampling on the dignity of a Dragon."

"I swear, when I get out of this cage, I'll tear your body open with my claws and turn you into charcoal with my Dragon breath!"

"I mean what I say, Ooh-woo~"

Snap.

The washroom door closed.

Lex stood in the middle of the bedroom, a little excited. Perhaps soon, he would be able to participate in the Tarot Club Above the Gray Mist.

He was also a little uneasy. What if the Mysterious Book couldn't appraise this mirror, what if it wasn't an antique...

In this conflicted mood, he first held both hands level and chanted the incantation.

"Eye that sees everything."

"God that Oversees All Things."
