Chapter 108 - Busy Afternoon

"Faith?"

Sandy nodded, "Of course, I'm a believer in the Night Goddess. Although I'm a shallow believer…"

That makes things easier.

Just because I can't solve it doesn't mean the Church can't.

Lex cleared his throat and said, "Mr. Sandy, I think you should go to a church."

Sandy began to look at Lex with suspicion: "Is this how your security company handles things? When you encounter an unsolvable problem, you advise your customers to go to church?"

"What a joke!"

Lex said seriously: "Please calm down, sir. I am not joking. I can tell you for certain that your son is not lost, and your neighbor is not lying."

"Daniel is in this house."

Sandy shouted excitedly: "So you're saying I'm mentally ill? Get out, get out of my house! I don't need you anymore!"

Lex looked at him coldly: "With that attitude, do you really want to find Daniel? Or do you want to abandon him and start a new relationship with that Young Miss Jenny?"

Sandy immediately grabbed Lex's collar: "I didn't! Daniel is my everything! I can't live without him!"

"That sounds very touching. But why didn't you come home on time the night before last? Don't you think your words have no credibility right now?"

Sandy clutched his head and cried out, "I didn't do it on purpose!"

He suddenly sat on the sofa, weeping: "I really didn't do it on purpose. I love Daniel. If I had known something like this would happen, let alone one Jenny, even ten, I would have rushed back."

Lex patted his shoulder: "That's the crux of the matter, Mr. Sandy. I don't think you have a mental illness, but your neighbor is not lying either."

"Due to guilt, due to certain psychological factors, you have developed some strange delusions, causing you to not see your son who is right in front of you."

"I'm telling you to go to church in the hope that through prayer, through confession, you can sort out your feelings. Perhaps when you relax, when you no longer blame yourself so much, you will find that Daniel has not left."

Sandy looked up, his eyes red, and asked Lex: "Will this work?"

"It will help. You can, um, after you pray to the Goddess, find a priest. Or a higher-ranking cleric, to the best of your ability, understand?"

"Confide in them, tell them your situation, and I believe there will be some improvement. If it doesn't work, I'll think of another way."

Lex originally wanted Sandy to pray to the Goddess, and in order for the Goddess to have a chance to hear his voice, Lex wanted to tell him the Goddess's honorific name.

However, he quickly dismissed the idea. If the Goddess paid attention to him, she might notice him.

In this world, it's best not to easily attract the attention of deities.

Except for The Fool.

Advising Sandy to go to church to pray was not simply to relieve his psychological pressure, but to let the Church know about the believer's plight.

Lex couldn't solve this situation, but that didn't mean the Church couldn't.

And if that didn't work, he could only hand it over to others to deal with, as Hunters are not good at solving this kind of problem.

After Sandy agreed, Lex said goodbye and left. He returned to the art exhibition and resumed his original identity.

In the afternoon, as Lex was reading the newspaper, a knock on the door sounded.

Gru opened the door, then led a man inside.

This guest was in his forties, wearing a thin black trench coat over a white shirt and black vest. His expression was stern, and his blue eyes habitually observed his surroundings from the moment he entered.

He took off his hat and smiled at Lex, greeting him: "Good afternoon, sir. I am Henry's friend. He is handling a case and cannot accept your commission, so he recommended me to handle it on his behalf."

"My name is Robin, and I am from Awwa County."

Lex extended his hand: "Nice to meet you, Mr. Robin. Are you interested in hearing my commission?"

Robin took off his trench coat, handed it to the male servant nearby, spread his hands, and smiled: "Apparently I am, otherwise I wouldn't be here."

Lex nodded: "The night before last, a shooting occurred at the Casbah Restaurant in the West District. I hope you can investigate and find the whereabouts of the perpetrator."

"Just the whereabouts?" Robin took out a notebook, professionally recording the client's request.

"Yes, just the whereabouts. The other party has a gun and is well-trained. I don't want you to be in danger, so if you find him, do not act on your own. You just need to notify me."

Next, the bodyguard Gru described the gunman's appearance to the Detective. After recording all of this, Robin closed his notebook and said: "If it's just a search for a person, I would normally only charge 2 to 5 pounds."

"However, as you said, the other party is a gunman, and there is a certain risk for me. Therefore, for this case, I will need to charge 10 pounds."

Lex immediately took out a 5-pound banknote from his pocket and placed it in the Detective's palm: "This is the deposit."

Robin accepted the deposit and stood up: "If he is in Tingen, you will get what you want in at most three days."

After having Mathew see the Detective out, Lex stood up and said to his bodyguard: "I'm going to take a nap. Don't wake me before 6 PM."

"Understood, sir." Gru didn't ask anything.

After Lex entered his room, he heard Mathew and the bodyguard's conversation.

"Where is the master?"

"He's napping. The master is really focused on health preservation, and he's not even twenty yet."

"Don't gossip about the master behind his back."

Lex smiled, opened the wardrobe, and prepared to change.

"You cross-dressing weirdo, are you going to sneak out again? Aren't you going to take me with you? You can't keep a noble Dragon always locked in this damned birdcage!"

The sudden voice startled Lex. He almost forgot that he had a magical animal living in his room.

Lex waved his Shadow Gauntlets, threatening: "I can. Stay put, and I'll get you something delicious when I get back. Of course, you can also tell people, provided they believe you."

"As for the consequences, I hope you can bear them."

The parrot covered its head with its two wings: "Oh my god, you're simply a devil!"

"Thanks for the compliment."

Lex put on a fake beard and smiled slightly.

North District, Green Emerald Street.

Ding-ding-dong.

The bell, pulled by a rope, kept shaking, sending its sound into the house. Lex waited for a moment, and the door opened, revealing the same housekeeper he had seen last time.

"Good afternoon, is Ms. Helen home?"

"She is, please wait a moment."

The housekeeper walked into the living room, then quickly returned, smiling: "Young Miss said she would see you in the study."

Lex breathed a sigh of relief. He had been worried that Helen wouldn't agree to meet, in which case he would have had to use other methods.

In the study, Lex saw Helen. Her dark circles seemed a bit heavier, but overall, she looked quite healthy.

She just looked a bit resentful, her hands crossed over her chest as she looked at Lex: "Today, which friend asked you to deliver something?"
