Chapter 5 First Mission: Shadow of the Fallen
The sun had barely risen when the Gremory mansion's alarm rang a distress call from the human city below.
Ren Asakura, still half-asleep, rubbed his eyes. His left arm pulsed faintly red.
"Already? Can't we skip breakfast?" he groaned.
Riasha appeared beside him, wings stretching elegantly. "No. The Fallen Angels are moving. Airi has been spotted near Shinjuku. This is your first real mission, Ren. Be ready."
Ren blinked. "Wait… mission? I thought school was enough!"
"Human ignorance is cute. But irrelevant," Ddraegon rumbled. "Prepare. This fight will show you how far you've come… or how far you'll fall."
Arrival in the Human City
The team teleported to Shinjuku at twilight.
The streets were eerily quiet too quiet. Shadows moved unnaturally, and the air crackled with divine energy.
"Airi's here," Lena whispered, scanning with her blades. "She's not alone."
A shadow detached itself from a building Airi, wings spread wide, spear glowing black with heavenly energy. Behind her, a squad of Fallen Angels appeared, their eyes cold and deadly.
"So… the little devil boy returns," Airi said, smirking. "Didn't expect to see you again so soon, Ren Asakura."
Ren tightened his fist. "I'm not little, and I'm not the same human you killed!"
The Battle Begins
Airi struck first a spear of black light shot toward Ren.
Ren's gauntlet flared red, forming dragon claws, and he deflected it with a roar. Flames licked the pavement.
"Remember, boy… precision over brute force!" Ddraegon's voice echoed.
Ren nodded, letting the dragon energy flow, focusing it into his arm and body. He unleashed a controlled burst, sending a shockwave that scattered the Fallen Angels across the street.
"Not bad… but can you handle this?" Airi called, summoning a storm of black feathers, each tipped with deadly light.
Ren dodged and countered, flames swirling around him. But even as he fought, he felt the dragon inside him growing restless.
"I'll take over if you hesitate, boy," Ddraegon warned.
Dragon Takeover
Ren stumbled under a heavy strike, barely keeping control. The red scales along his arm surged, golden veins appearing.
"Ddraegon… I need you!" Ren shouted.
The dragon's presence exploded through his body. His aura skyrocketed flames and light merging, wings of pure crimson fire erupting from his back.
The ground cracked under his feet. Even the Fallen Angels froze at the sight.
"Now watch and learn, human," Ddraegon growled.
Ren's fist glowed green, then red, then gold a beam of Red Dragon Emperor energy shooting forward. It obliterated the ground beneath Airi, forcing her to retreat.
"Impossible… this power… he's… no human!" Airi gasped.
Aftermath
The Fallen Angels scattered.
Ren landed, still burning slightly with residual dragon energy. His arm had fully transformed, claws extended, and eyes glowing faintly red.
Riasha approached, calm as ever. "Good work. But remember this is only the beginning. Airi will come back… stronger."
Ren clenched his fist. "Then I'll be ready. And next time… I won't just defend I'll crush her."
Ddraegon's laughter rumbled through his mind, deep and victorious.
"That's my boy. Now… let's see what else you're capable of."
Even in victory, Ren knew: the war between Heaven and Hell had only just begun.
And the Red Dragon Emperor
