Chapter 1 - Mental Illness!?

[Rebirth successful]

[No immediate threat to Host's Life]

[Triple Binding Skill Awakened]

Hamlin looked at the hazy silver screen before him, his vision blurry.

Where was he?

What was going on?

All he remembered was a sudden silver warp in space.

It was inside his room.

It sucked in everything. His TV, his PC, his manga collection.

Everything.

Me too.

It was as if a wormhole had opened up inside there.

It was so scary…

A cold hand caressed his cheeks, startling Hamlin awake. He snapped his eyes wide open, staring at the woman as white as snow before him.

She asked worriedly, "Shuhan, are you okay?"

He stared blankly at her.

Wh—What? Who?

Shuhan?

What language was she speaking?

Why could he understand it?

The otherworldly woman once again touched his cheek, her face full of worry. "Did that Soul Attack earlier stun your soul? Are you alright, Shuhan?"

Suddenly, she frowned and looked back, no longer having time to care for him. "That vicious Otherworldly Beast is back again! I am not letting it leave this time."

Otherworldly Beast? Where?

Skreeeeeeeeech!

The piercing scream made him look up in fear. A blur seemed to head towards them from the blue skies, becoming bigger and bigger as it closed in.

His eyes widened.

Dark feathers, long neck, wide wings, green flames in the eyes!

A DRAGON?!

Rooaaaar!!!

He felt his entire body full of hairs stand on end. It was the pressure of standing infront of an absolute predator.

As Hamlin was stunned speechless, the Otherworldly woman who called him Shuhan suddenly raised her arms.

"Black Light Attraction," she murmured with annoyance.

Small black dots of light blinked into existence all around the Dragon, looking like little fireflies in comparison to the giant being.

Then—

Hamlin felt as if he were dreaming.

The scene before him reminded him of the wormhole that had appeared in his room.

All the small black fireflies suddenly gained a deadly force of attraction, pulling at the Dragon's flesh from all sides.

What happened next could only be called a second-long horror.

Blood, bones, nerves!

PUFF.

Immediate seperation and then—all vanished into the fireflies in the blink of an eye.

Tsk.

The woman clicked her tongue.

"A waste of my weekly opportunity," she muttered. Then, she looked at him.

He looked back dumbly.

"These monsters are becoming more and more powerful and strange," she said. "I didn't expect something at the Golden Core level to appear already. If something at the Nascent Soul stage appears next time, I don't know if I can win anymore."

"…"

She looked at him again, her blue eyes full of sadness. "You wait here, okay, Shuhan? I will go get your sister. She entered that Cocoon artifact I brought her again."

Even she can't get someone in that cocoon out by force. It was a very powerful artifact.

Hamlin nodded subsconsciously, making her move like a blur to a distance he couldn't see.

Seeing that he was alone, he looked around him in wonder.

He was in a big forest, full of trees as big as the giant skyscrapers on Planet Earth.

Standing below them, he felt tiny.

Where am I?

He was not dumb, and he had read far too many novels, so he came to a conclusion.

Have I really… transmigrated? Teleported?

And I feel like…

I am in my own body, but at the same time not?

His head swelled with pain.

Then, memories began assaulting him.

He had indeed transmigrated.

But that did not happen today or yesterday.

He had transmigrated into this world long ago. In fact, 19 years ago. He had been reborn as a baby.

And his beautiful mother, the Otherworldly Woman who had just swooshed away, had named him Lin Shuhan.

But perhaps because of his transmigration, Lin Shuhan was born with a certain cultivation illness—a Heartless Soul.

From birth, he was a person who could not feel emotions. And he could not hold long term memories—he didn't care to hold.

Hamilton felt his heart thump with emotion. All those nineteen years of life now came to him as if he had suddenly remembered everything he forgot.

No, I am not Hamilton, I am Lin Shuhan—the son of Lin Hualan!

Lin Hualan, his mother, had two children—a twin pair of brother and sister. And both of these children were mentally ill.

The brother could not feel emotions, and the sister could not use logic at all.

And even then, his mother, who was just a Qi Gathering little cultivator when she had them, did not abandon them. Instead, she took care of both her children through wars, battles, and much more dangerous events.

She sacrificed her own ultra-rich background to take care of her useless children.

Warm tears dripped down Shuhan's cheeks.

What have I been doing all these years!

What is the use of tears now?!

Clatter.

Something fell to the floor with a clatter.

Shuhan looked to his left in surprise.

A stunned woman stared at him, a giant crystal cocoon on the floor beside her.

Shuhan smiled through his tears and snot.

Then said softly, "Mom."

She hesitated.

"Shuhan?" she asked. "Are you alright?"

He did not speak.

Instead, he just moved closer to her and gave her a tight hug, feeling his entire body loosen up.

He didn't know how long he could feel emotions this deeply again. His body was resisting the emotions even now.

It felt as if he would become an indifferent man of intellect in just a few more hours.

He wanted to at least feel it while it lasted.

"Mom, sorry I only woke up now…"

His tears fell on her shoulders as she just stood there ramrod straight.

Her own back, at some point, quivered as it became curved with emotion.

"It's… impossible," she murmured. "How?"

He just smiled through the tears. "Your efforts just bore fruit!"

After a while of comforting her, both the mother and son began walking down a certain route. Both, to be fair, still shaken.

The forest was vast and dangerous, but the mother and son both knew the way.

Even though they had walked this route a thousand times though, this time, the mother held her son's hand as if she were afraid of losing him. And he just held her back with as much warmth as he could muster.

For now, she didn't really want to know any why or how.

She was too overwhelmed.

She just wanted this to last.

On the other hand, Shuhan was focused on something else as well. He also wanted this to last, but he was too confused to just focus on this.

His mind was already losing the power to feel emotions deeply, and he was becoming extremely indifferent. Though, definitely, there were slight differences from before.

He knew what to do even when emotions became flat.

And then there was the anomaly in front of him.

A system.

He looked at the silver screen.

_

[Triple Bond skill ready to fire.]

[Do you want to bond with "Lin Hualan" and receive all of her cultivation gains from now on? (With Reward Amplification of 2x)]

(More bonds, better the Reward Amplification)

(Host could have upto 3 Bonds)

_

This had appeared a while ago, but Shuhan didn't agree, as he didn't know what it would do exactly.

Was bonding good for his mom?

Was it bad?

Where did this screen come from?

With so many questions, there was only one person to ask. The excellent cultivator and Soul Therapist just beside him—his mother.

She was wise and would know what to do.

"Mom, I think I awakened some sort of skill…"

She nodded—not surprised—still emotional.

"That's normal," she said. "I have a Divine Skill, so all of my children would have a Divine Skill as well. You and your sister should both have one…" Taking a deep breath. "It's just that you didn't awaken it before because your soul was sick."

"Oh… so you have something like this too?" He was stunned. Systems were normal here?

He knew a lot about his mother, but due to him being such a cold-hearted human being all these years, he didn't bother caring about her information. In fact, he never even cared about living.

Why would he care about his mother's abilities when even life and death was nothing but a dream?

His mother nodded.

"Yeah, even though I was kicked out of the Divine Monastery, I still have my own Divine Skill. How else do you think your mom became a Nascent Soul cultivator in her 30s?"

She did have such skills, too.

Shuhan nodded in wonder.

She looked at her palm. "Mine is a Bronze-level Divine Skill, Energy Devouring. I can devour the energies of other living beings to grow more powerful—but well, I can only use it once every week."

"… Bronze level?"

"Yeah, Iron, Bronze, Silver, and Gold. You have a system screen right, what color is it?"

"…Eh, silver."

Her eyes lit up, then she nodded. "Indeed, indeed. So your talent is even better than mine!"

Was it not gold?

Tsk tsk.

He smiled and shook his head. He then held her hand tight. "Mom, I will heal Mei'er and I will take you back to the Heartland. To the Divine Monastery."

Lin Hualan was a Divine Descendant of the Divine Monastery.

She used to have it all.

Money, status, talent, beauty, everything.

Until she studied the Forbidden Secret Technique of [Life Creation], that is.

When the Monastery found out, all her Martial Methods and Cultivation Techniques were crippled, only leaving his poor mom with her cultivation foundation and Divine Skill.

With that, she had survived all these years in the forest and even thrived due to her intelligence and wisdom.

From just a Foundation Establishment realm cultivator at the time of banishment, she had now become a Nascent Soul cultivator!

Even though she was the weakest sort. After all, she didn't have any techniques to use her power. Why would she need to use her trump card against a Golden Core threat otherwise?

Even if she was struggling in all ways though, she was nothing but great when it came to being a mother.

As he was thinking, his attention was suddenly broken as the cocoon floating beside them cracked apart and a young lady burst out of it.

He stared at her in sheer emotion.

She looked around warily, then looked at Shuhan.

She smiled brilliantly.

"Bro-Bro!"

Both the mother and brother couldn't help but fall head over heels for the cuteness.

Lin Mei'er!

His sister, his twin!

Ding!

The system went wild.

[An extremely compatible Bond has been discovered]

[Automatic Bonding begins]

[Your soul is being bound to "Lin Mei'er"]

Lin Shuhan was shocked.
