Chapter 424 - Slave

Alexander pushed open the anywhere door, stepped out of it, and arrived next to the Golden Throne.

And beside the Golden Throne was the very galaxy Alexander had just been in.

Only, the entire galaxy had been compressed to a size of only about one meter in diameter.

This wasn't because Alexander had shrunk the entire galaxy; rather, when the Time-Space Converter was used, its time-space dimensions weren't aligned, causing the galaxy's time-space dimensions to not match those of the Throne Room when it was transformed there, making it appear to have shrunk.

Alexander turned to look at this galaxy, then pulled out his four-dimensional pocket and shoved the entire galaxy into it.

Subsequently, Alexander had a thought and sold all the matter in the entire galaxy, leaving only the Light Lord, the Rock, the Blessed Lady, the Conqueror, and the starships that belonged either to the World Eaters Legion or the Fallen Angels.

[Item Name: Stellar System]

[Origin: Milky Way]

[Appraisal: This is a stellar system orbiting a red dwarf, containing two terrestrial planets and one gas giant. There is no life or valuable recoverable minerals present. It has not been developed or modified and is only suitable as an introductory astronomy toy for preschool children.]

[Production Time: Approximately five billion years ago]

[Status: Operating normally]

A large sum of money instantly flowed in, but it was still less than Alexander had imagined.

In fact, the selling price of this entire stellar system was not even as high as that of the Rock, which was also currently in Alexander's pocket.

Alexander vaguely realized that, given equal quantities, the Future Department Store seemed more willing to acquire things unique to the Warhammer universe.

For example, the holy relics of various Space Marine Chapters, various equipment of the Astra Militarum, and things like Astartes, Tyranids, C'tan, and various Warp-related items.

The stellar system Alexander had just sold, having undergone no development or modification and being merely a natural stellar system, seemed commonplace in their eyes, and they were only willing to offer a relatively low price.

Indeed, the Future Department Store didn't want things like energy or minerals; these seemed useless in the 22nd century. They wanted more items with Warhammer characteristics; the rarer and more unique the item, the more expensive it sold for.

Alexander couldn't help but stare at the Rock.

But after a moment's hesitation, Alexander still shook his head.

Currently, Guilliman was managing the entire Imperium Sanctus to generate wealth for him, and Dante was managing the Imperium Nihilus to generate wealth. Although the selling price of the Rock was high, it wasn't so high that Alexander absolutely had to sell it.

Directly selling an entire founding Chapter would indeed have a negative impact.

Besides, with Lion in Alexander's hands, controlling the Dark Angels Chapter was very easy. If managed well, they would become another group of loyal doraemon subjects who could generate wealth for Alexander.

Alexander casually found a stellar system he had passed by before and used the Time-Space Converter to casually toss the Rock there.

Of course, the Rock and the Dark Angels Chapter would not be sold, but the large number of holy relics and ancient technological artifacts accumulated by the Dark Angels within the Rock were all packed up and taken away by Alexander.

However, Alexander was kind enough to place an Imperial decree signed by the Emperor himself in their warehouse, presumably the Dark Angels Chapter would understand.

Subsequently, Alexander turned his gaze to the Blessed Lady, looking at his greatest gain.

Alexander's fingers twitched slightly, and he pulled Angron and Khârn out of his four-dimensional pocket.

Khârn was in very bad shape; he had used a suicidal attack to stuff the Momotaro Maruko into Angron's mouth. Now he was cut in half at the waist, blood gushing out uncontrollably, and his life was hanging by a thread.

Raum, who was possessing his body, was in a similar state, on the verge of collapse.

Raum was not so much about to die as the things that sustained his existence had disappeared. Raum's existence largely depended on his hatred for Erebus; now that his blood feud was avenged, Raum himself had lost the meaning of his existence.

He didn't disappear immediately only because he was possessing Khârn and temporarily existing by relying on Khârn and the tiny bit of hatred he had left. That tiny bit of hatred wouldn't sustain him for long; he would soon die completely, and even Alexander's authority over the Domain of Erosion and Destruction couldn't save him.

Because daemons simply have no concept of life, let alone reversing death.

But Khârn, Alexander could still save. He temporarily ignored Angron, instead bending down and reaching out to Khârn, attempting to reverse life and death and heal Khârn.

"No, my lord, I beg you—" Khârn suddenly stretched out his bare arm, lightly grasping Alexander's hand, and pleaded softly with Alexander.

He wasn't begging Alexander to save him; Alexander could feel Khârn's thoughts.

Khârn yearned for death.

True revenge is both destruction and self-destruction. If a person makes revenge everything in his life, then the moment he completes his revenge, his own life is self-destructed.

This was true for Raum, and it was no different for Khârn.

"I should have died long ago," Khârn's eyes began to become somewhat hazy: "Ten thousand years ago, I should have died by Sigismund's sword."

"Only the Blood God... the Blood God didn't want me to die. He truly is a cruel god."

"You... you are different. Although you appear malicious, you are ultimately merciful."

"I beg you, let me die. And I beg you, do not enslave him any longer."

Alexander didn't say much, just gently withdrew his hand and nodded slightly to Khârn: "Alright."

Although reversing life and death was very simple for Alexander now, he didn't often use this ability.

Because in this universe, not allowing a person to die was simply too cruel. If a soul genuinely yearned for death, then Alexander was actually unwilling to force him back into this dark world.

This was true for Lager in the past, and it was true for Khârn now.

As for Reyna, Alexander had sensed it at the time: there was no longing for death in Reyna's soul, only fervent loyalty to humanity, the Emperor, and Saint Doraemon.

But the other occupant of the Domain of Erosion and Destruction in this Throne Room was not as humane as Alexander.

Almost the instant Alexander moved his hand away, Khârn vaguely saw a cold golden light appear before his eyes, and a voice faintly came from within the light,

"Repent, pledge your allegiance to me anew, and I can return your soul to the Golden Throne, in a cursed form—"

"I... I am not Sigismund, I am not as..."

Khârn's tone was complex; he still remembered what Sigismund looked like back then.

Hollow, soulless, broken, yet fanatically powerful, like dead ashes.

"So, get out."

Khârn gritted his teeth, gathering his last bit of strength to roar:

"..I won't be your slave!"

The golden light showed no anger; he merely considered Khârn a useful tool and was indifferent to Khârn's wrath.

Only Khârn's refusal made the golden light feel that he had lost a useful tool.

Khârn took two or three deep breaths, feeling his lungs ache more and more, feeling his life slipping away.

Just then, Khârn heard footsteps, and his nose caught the scent of hot, scorching sand.

A pair of broad, thick hands suddenly lifted his broken body.

"Khârn, my son."
