Chapter 201 - Human God

Sylandri Shadowseer leaped through the gaps in reality. Cegorach's blessing and her Eldar physique made her like a phantom existing beneath the veil of reality.

As a Harlequin who could enter and exit the Black Library, Sylandri Shadowseer was also well aware of the internal structure of this fortress.

She weaved through the patrolling Cadian warriors and Blood Angels in rhythm with the famous play, "The Fall of the Eldar."

Even these excellent warriors could not detect her presence.

Sylandri Shadowseer was secretly pleased and found some fun while moving through the fortress.

She secretly drew on the faces of sleeping mortals, pasted notes that read "I am a Ghoul" on the back of the Blood Angels' power armor, and swiped lho cigarettes from the Cadian 184th Regiment warriors.

The universe was so boring; they, the Harlequins, had to be responsible for adding color to the stars.

Of course, important tasks could not be forgotten.

Yvraine hoped Sylandri Shadowseer would infiltrate this fortress, investigate the "Human God of Death" thoroughly, and sound out the Expeditionary Force's intentions.

Originally, Sylandri Shadowseer was not needed for this.

They could have just let that highly respected Eldar Seer and old charlatan, the oldest Eldar Seer, Eldrad Ulthran, make a prophecy.

In fact, Eldrad Ulthran had intended to do just that.

But just as he was about to make the prophecy, all the Eldar psyker involved in the ritual, including Eldrad Ulthran, instinctively sensed danger.

Rashly prophesying about the "Human God of Death" would cause them unbearable harm.

Therefore, the Death Guard could only hope to gather some information in the material universe.

Furthermore, Cegorach's directive had been transmitted.

Cegorach was also very interested in the "Human God of Death."

So, Sylandri Shadowseer had to complete her mission before her pranks were discovered.

As she thought, Sylandri Shadowseer leaped, jumping down from a high place, trying to avoid the patrolling Blood Angels not far away—

Click!!

The sound of a door opening suddenly rang in mid-air. The moment Sylandri Shadowseer jumped, a pinkish-red wooden door suddenly appeared diagonally in front of her.

Sylandri Shadowseer saw a figure in the open wooden door that looked no different from a mortal, with a white pocket on its belly.

"Human God of Death"!

Sylandri Shadowseer was startled, completely unsure how she had been discovered.

She quickly changed her posture in mid-air, attempting to bypass the wooden door that had appeared.

However, just then, gray nanomachines surged out of the pocket, instantly coiling around Sylandri Shadowseer.

Sylandri Shadowseer immediately realized that these nanomachines were designs from the Human Golden Age.

If she had been on the ground, she might have been able to dodge them.

However, being in mid-air, her movements were restricted, and she was almost immediately entangled by these nanomachines and dragged into the door.

The pinkish-red wooden door closed, and Sylandri Shadowseer immediately found herself dragged into a somewhat cramped conference room.

The "Human God of Death," Archmagos Belisarius Cawl, and others were all inside.

The moment Sylandri Shadowseer landed, she twisted her body, and sharp monofilament lines shot out from her Harlequin weapon, the "Harlequin's Kiss," on her wrist. As her body spun, they coiled around her, tearing the nanomachines wrapped around her into wisps of silver-gray mist.

She tapped her toes on the ground and moved, about to disappear from her spot.

However, Captain Karlaen, the Blood Angels Terminator Captain standing beside the "Human God of Death," moved.

He was clearly wearing heavy Terminator power armor and wielding a heavy power hammer, yet his speed was surprisingly enough to catch up with Sylandri Shadowseer.

This was clearly extremely unreasonable.

But Captain Karlaen arrived in front of Sylandri Shadowseer in the blink of an eye. The power field on the power hammer in his hand roared as he heavily smashed it towards Sylandri Shadowseer.

The Shadowseer moved, and her slender Harlequin's Blade collided with Baal's Wrath, a scorching azure energy field exploding in the void.

Sylandri Shadowseer lightly jumped.

She used her Psyker power to control the flip belt on her waist.

This belt was a product of Eldar gravity technology, allowing the wearer to control gravity within their own range.

Sylandri Shadowseer tried to lower her own gravity to make her faster—

Then Sylandri Shadowseer quickly noticed something strange.

The flip belt did not obey her commands!

Not only did Sylandri Shadowseer not become lighter, but she became heavier. Gravity pressed down on her like shackles.

Not only the flip belt, but the dazzling holosuit she wore also flickered strangely, its performance rapidly declining.

Sylandri Shadowseer couldn't react in time.

And Captain Karlaen's Baal's Wrath had already raised a roaring, thunderous energy field, smashing heavily onto Sylandri Shadowseer's mirrored mask.

The Shadowseer felt a force far exceeding that of a normal Astartes. She was sent flying backward by the swinging Baal's Wrath, her head smashing heavily into the wall.

All of this happened in an instant. Captain Karlaen, enhanced by acceleration gears, was already fast enough to catch up with the Eldar Harlequin. Alexander also silently used the power he gained from the Malicious Art to affect the machinery on Sylandri Shadowseer, slowing her down, thus subduing this elusive Harlequin.

Alexander manipulated the Water of Thirst, aggregating the nanobots into ropes, and yanked Sylandri Shadowseer from the wall.

Sylandri Shadowseer's mirror helmet was covered in cracks. That it hadn't completely shattered after taking a direct hit from Baal's Wrath was testament to the power of Eldar craftsmanship.

"The dance of fate is always so unpredictable. I serve the 'Eldar Death Guard,' yet I am captured by the 'Human Death God.'"

Sylandri Shadowseer suppressed her dizziness and slightly raised her head to look at Alexander:

"Cegorach, the greatest liar, clown, madman, and Laughing God in the galaxy, greets you."

Alexander looked at the bound Sylandri Shadowseer and just shook his head.

"Firstly, I am not a God."

"Secondly, Cegorach only ranks fourth in the galaxy's greatest liar ranking. As for the galaxy's greatest clown ranking, there are too many contenders. Of course, he also doesn't deserve the title of the greatest madman."

Sylandri Shadowseer was slightly stunned at first, then nodded in agreement: "The liar God isn't enough of a liar, the clown God isn't the greatest clown, and the madman God is actually relatively normal. Isn't this the most ironic joke?"

Sylandri Shadowseer was not in a hurry.

Clearly, these humans did not intend to kill her.

If it was just imprisonment, no cage in this world could hold Sylandri Shadowseer.

She would surely find a way to escape—

Ouch! By Cegorach's hook, why does it hurt so much?!

A sudden pain emanated from within Sylandri Shadowseer.

She felt something phase-shifted into her body.

"Lockheart Scarab?!" Sylandri Shadowseer said, her voice sharp.

She found that a group of Necron nanomachines had appeared inside her, precisely the Lockheart Scarabs that Necron metal skeletons used to control other races.

Although the Eldar had the technology to remove these Necron nanomachines, it required specific machines and environments, and would cause immense pain.

At least for now, Sylandri Shadowseer had no way to deal with the Lockheart Scarabs inside her.

"Why can you control Lockheart Scarabs?!"

"Are you not only the 'Human God of Death' but also a C'tan?"

"Firstly, I must emphasize that I am not a God."

In the Eldar fortress, Archmagos Belisarius Cawl and others stood behind Alexander. Sylandri Shadowseer, bound by ropes condensed from the Water of Thirst, was thrown aside and guarded by Captain Karlaen.

After Sylandri Shadowseer was captured, the Expeditionary Force officially condemned the Eldar Death Guard, accusing them of shamelessly and degenerately sending spies to assassinate high-ranking members of the Expeditionary Force.

This was simply unforgivable, causing deep unease among the human Expeditionary Force's high-ranking members, who were mere mortals—fragile, pathetic, physically unfit, and not strong in Psyker power:

This included, but was not limited to, the unremarkable mortal Alexander, the weak-willed Inquisitor Greyfax, the pitiful and fragile Saint Celestine, the not-so-psychically-powerful Reyna, and the physically unfit Belisarius Cawl.

Their lives were severely threatened by the desecrating xenos.

If the Eldar still wished to negotiate, they had to follow the Expeditionary Force's arrangements.

Through this, the Expeditionary Force successfully brought the high-ranking members of the Eldar Death Guard into the fortress they controlled for the upcoming negotiations.

They gained the home-field advantage, with hundreds of Blood Angels firmly surrounding them.

"I am not the 'Human God of Death.'"

Alexander emphasized to the Eldar negotiators before him:

"I was merely forced by the Emperor to become the Death God's Chosen."

He felt that this was indeed the truth.

The God of Death was clearly the Emperor; he was merely granted a portion of this authority by the Emperor, gaining a bit of power.

At most, he was at the level of a Death God's Chosen or an Emperor's Chosen.

Upon hearing this, the Eldar Seer Eldrad Ulthran nodded slightly.

This Soul Seer had a long lifespan, already being ten thousand years old during the Great Crusade era, and had communicated with many Primarchs and even the Emperor, establishing a connection that could barely be called friendship.

His reputation was well-known both within and outside the Eldar.

Roughly equivalent to Trazyn among the Necron, Tzeentch among Chaos, and Blood Ravens among the Astartes.

In other words, his reputation was utterly notorious.

Currently, this Eldar Seer was exiled by the Craftworlds for having plundered the corpses of Eldar Seers from various Craftworlds as ritual spellcasting materials.

"Can you distinguish between a God's Chosen and a God?" Alexander asked earnestly.

Eldrad nodded again.

Then he turned to Yvraine beside him and said:

"Confirmed. This is the Human God!"

"This is how their Human God is!"
