Chapter 10: Battle for Survival in the Basement

1,250 Words

In the remote wilderness, there was a wide road, which was very rare.

On the road, a car sped by.

However, the driver and passenger seemed to be having a dispute, and the skinny boy driving suddenly spoke up:

"Trish, I have to go back and check."

This startled his sister in the passenger seat, and she cried out in surprise:

"Darry, are you crazy! What if that's a serial killer's lair? Do you want to be like one of those idiots in a horror movie, making a delivery right to their door?"

But just then, Darry, who was driving, slowly stopped the car, looked at his sister seriously, and said with determination:

"I'm sure that was a body coming out of that pipe. We have to go back and see if there are any survivors."

Trish, who was about to graduate and had already started working, knew exactly what kind of person her younger brother was, so she paid no attention to the boy's sudden burst of maternal instinct.

They knew very well how dangerous it was for two unarmed young people to be in this desolate wilderness.

So, Trish sighed and said with a wry smile, "Darry, don't be stupid. Even if we both go back, what can we do? Are we going to be that bad guy's breakfast?"

However, these words were clearly not enough to convince this boy who had not yet entered society. He remained stubborn, especially afraid that his own family might encounter a similar problem.

The boy instantly thought of a reason that made it difficult for his sister to refuse.

"What if you were in there? Would you want me to abandon you and face the fear alone?"

These words, filled with familial affection, left Trish speechless.

She thought to herself, if she were trapped inside, she would definitely want her brother to come and save her.

But then she realized there was no "if," and immediately tried to persuade him again.

But looking at Darry's serious expression, and hearing him repeat, "We'll just go take a look. The car will keep running. If we confirm someone is dead, we'll drive away immediately."

Seeing that her brother was determined and had even come up with a viable plan, Trish knew she couldn't convince him anymore, but she still had to make one last effort.

"D*mn it, I'm driving, and I'm definitely not getting out!"

Seeing his sister agree, the boy smiled and said, "Okay!"

After the two swapped seats, Trish turned the car around and headed back towards the scene.

 ...

By the time the siblings returned, the battle in the basement had already begun.

With a weapon in hand, Chris's nervousness, though not completely gone, had mostly subsided.

He looked at the ogre with a cruel smile and, instead, took the initiative to attack the monster, all while spewing endless trash talk.

"What the f**k are you laughing at! You're so ugly and you eat people, why don't you go eat sh*t!"

From the fact that this cannibal could drive and play tricks, it was clear this creature possessed intelligence.

Therefore, when Chris's trash talk reached his ears, it immediately enraged the monster.

It roared and charged at Chris, completely ignoring the spear in Chris's hand.

"D*mn it, you think I'm afraid of you?!"

Seeing the monster wanting to fight him head-on, Chris would never let that happen.

He remembered that in the second part of the story, a group of ordinary students had injured this person, causing the monster to devour a student's head before recovering.

This meant that although this monster was very powerful, its defense might only be at the level of an ordinary person, or even weaker.

Chris recalled the intelligence from his memory and, without hesitation, tightened his grip on the spear and swung it fiercely.

Facing this undead monster, he didn't expect to win simply by piercing its body with the spear, as he would against a human.

Given that the ogre was immortal, if he pierced the other's body with the spear, the other would likely grab the spear as if nothing had happened and continue to approach him.

In that case, not only would you lose your weapon, but your spear might also be used by the enemy.

Therefore, Chris simply swung the spear in a wide arc, a heavy blow smashing the ogre and sending it flying.

In terms of human physique, being able to bench press 400 kilograms meant the power he could unleash was far greater than 400 kilograms.

Chris had seen online that a person's explosive power is usually 3 to 6 times their normal strength.

Strength, in the traditional sense, refers to the power one can repeatedly display.

Although Chris wasn't sure how many repetitions this "repeatedly" meant, he could indeed push 400 kilograms eight times in a row.

This meant that even if his explosive power was calculated at the minimum 3x, his attack just now had reached the level of a ton.

Moreover, he was swinging a long spear, and the explosive power of the sweep far exceeded his own expectations.

Thus, the result of this attack was satisfying. The flying ogre was directly cut in half at the waist, its upper and lower limbs completely separated.

Seeing this, Chris didn't flee like a character in a horror movie. Instead, he turned and ran towards the ogre's upper torso.

Chris took two steps toward the ogre, saw it struggling with its fleshy wings spread, then leaped up and swung the spear down.

He swung the spear in his hand as if it were a giant sword, a fierce blow that seemed to split a mountain. The spear tip tore through the air, emitting a thunderous boom that could only be produced by breaking the sound barrier.

Such a swift attack struck the ogre's body like a bolt of lightning.

The ogre's upper body exploded on the spot, and a three-finger-wide wound split open from the bridge of its nose downward.

The two halves of its body were also thrown, suffering the same fate as the upper and lower limbs that had been thrown earlier.

Seeing the still-struggling ogre, Chris no longer rushed.

He leaned on the spear, panting, and then collapsed in exhaustion.

He had risked his life to unleash those fierce downward chops.

He was a young man who had never learned any fighting techniques, nor did he have any special abilities. Facing death, all he could do was fight to the end.

Therefore, just two strikes were enough to exhaust his strength, leaving him unable to even stand.

&CSS;Seeing the ogre was powerless to resist, he relaxed and collapsed.

However, based on the current situation, he had ultimately won.

Although the ogre was not dead, its entire body had been split into three pieces, and most of its brain and spine had been smashed to pulp by Chris.

 Clearly, it posed no danger.

However, Chris knew the situation was not yet safe, as this monster could regenerate its body by eating people.

So, after recovering some strength, Chris picked up his spear and continued the fight.

Chris had thought of many brilliant ideas to deal with these undead monsters while watching the movie, and now it was time to put them into practice.

Let's see if the immortality of these monsters is really as exaggerated as it seems.
