Jojo leaned back in his chair, taking a sip of his beer.
"Well, whoever he is, he seems nice enough," he said diplomatically. "And if he makes you happy, that's what matters."
"Thank you, Jojo," Hailey said gratefully.
"But we want details later," the costume department woman added with a wink.
"What details?" Hailey asked.
"All of them," the woman said.
"Don't think you're getting out of girl talk that easily," she continued.
"There's nothing to talk about," Hailey insisted, but her protests only made everyone laugh more.
"Sure there isn't," Donald said knowingly.
"Right, anyway," Jojo said, seeming to accept her explanation but clearly still curious about her mysterious companion.
His expression became more serious as he leaned forward slightly.
"After that day with the dance scene, have you seen Victoria? What did she say to you about everything that happened?"
The question made Hailey's stomach tighten slightly.
