Chapter 42 - Attack

The first wave of attacks from the Chaos Legion was directly annihilated into nothingness, and the 400 psionics soldiers of the psionics Legion successfully opened up a landing zone for the subsequent landing troops.

With the arrival of ten transport ships, 10 million PDF troops also arrived on the battlefield.

The real war officially began now.

The drop pods of all troops were ejected from the transport ships, and 10 million troops began to descend to the ground.

Along with them, 400 Warlord-class Titans were also air-dropped.

When the last transport ship completed its air-drop, the entire landing zone had turned into a sea of steel.

The armored columns of the PDF kicked up a massive amount of dust, and the heavy footsteps of the Titan mechs made the earth tremble.

The war began to turn into a one-sided situation; the surging Chaos forces, upon encountering Noah's PDF troops, vanished as quickly as ice meeting fire.

These PDF troops, clad in power armor and constantly advancing, were not comparable to the PDF troops of the ordinary Imperium.

Gauss rifles fired continuously; besides being remarkably effective against orks, they were equally so against Chaos Daemons, with almost every shot taking down a Chaos Daemon or cultist.

The soldiers of the psionics Legion acted as vanguards, leading the PDF forward.

Noah stood on the warship, observing the current situation through a holographic combat map, and could see that the troops within a circular framework, centered on his landing site, began to advance in all directions.

But unfortunately, the Imperium resistance forces that originally existed on this planet also began to dissipate.

This was not a hive World; it was merely a logging world, specifically used for cutting down trees.

This meant that such a world simply did not have enough PDF troops to resist, nor hive Cities that could be used as defensive fortifications.

Facing such a sudden Chaos incursion, the humans of this logging world inherently lacked much resistance; if Noah had been even slightly slower in dispatching his fleet, he would not have seen anyone still resisting here.

But even though Noah had already dispatched troops to fight and was prepared to help the Imperium citizens here, it didn't have much effect.

The defenses of the logging world were simply too poor; the PDF troops could practically be compared to people from the Middle Ages.

You couldn't expect a group of guys in armor with longswords to contend with the Chaos forces; only a small number of people were equipped with Imperial standard laser guns, and that number was too small.

Watching this scene, Noah had no good solution; his troops had already begun fighting on the ground, but the Imperium's resistance was disappearing too quickly.

He could only say to continue accelerating the advance and see how many people would still be alive in the end.

With the full-scale landing of the federation forces, the defeat of the Chaos forces was a foregone conclusion.

The armored columns of the PDF rolled over the battlefield like a steel torrent, and the plasma cannons and volkite culverins of the Titan mechs vaporized swathes of daemons into ash.

The psionics Legion continued as the vanguard, destroying Chaos' twisted creations with precise psionics strikes.

However, in contrast, only one last stronghold of Imperial forces remained on this planet, putting up a final resistance, while the corruption of Chaos had also turned the planet's original human inhabitants into Chaos creatures.

Perhaps the defeat of the Chaos army was inevitable and destined, but due to the entire planet being corrupted, the subsequent operations would become even more tedious.

Massive numbers of Chaos creatures would surge towards Noah's landing forces until the last one died. And these people, not long ago, were citizens of the Imperium, they were humans.

Noah did not continue to look at the combat map; instead, he began to delve into technology by himself again.

Relying solely on psionic shields to block these Chaos energies was simply too unreliable.

After all, with psionic shields in place, it was difficult for ground troops to directly leave the planet.

The Terran Federation fleet was fine, as they had warp jump drives.

But who knew if the Imperium's fleet would return? If they saw this planet turn into this state, it would be very difficult to explain.

So, he needed to study how to solve the problems of these Chaos energies and Warp energies.

Noah began his research, and the PDF's advance on the ground also accelerated.

After all, once the initial Greater Daemons and Chaos Lords were eliminated, the remaining corrupted creatures themselves didn't possess much combat power.

Moreover, Noah had deployed a full 400 Warlord-class Titans in this battle.

At the edge of a scorched forest, a remnant Imperial Guard squad was desperately holding on, relying on makeshift fortifications.

Their lasguns were long overheated, their power packs nearly depleted, and the surrounding Chaos cultists continued to surge forward madly.

"For the Emperor! Hold the line!" a battle-scarred officer roared, his chainsword cleaving the head of a Nurgle cultist.

But there were too many enemies.

This unit of theirs could be said to be the last remaining resistance force of the Imperium on this planet.

If they were also wiped out, then the Imperium's army on this planet would be completely annihilated.

Just as the defensive line was about to collapse, the sky was suddenly torn open—

"Boom—!"

A blinding blue-white lance of light descended from the sky, accurately striking the center of the Chaos Legion. Tens of thousands of daemons were instantly vaporized, and immediately after, more plasma cannon shells rained down, turning the entire battlefield into a sea of fire.

"What... what is that?!" The soldiers looked up in shock.

The next second, they saw an even more astonishing sight—

"Rumble—!"

The earth trembled, and steel behemoths emerged from the smoke.

Warlord-class Titans!

At the very last moment, just as this unit was about to be annihilated, Noah's PDF troops finally arrived.

The Warlord-class Titans stood like small mountains in front of the PDF troops, then turned their backs to them and began to clear the Chaos enemies from their path.

This planet was merely a logging world; their equipment was mostly swords and knives, so how could they recognize one of the Imperium's ultimate land combat weapons, the Warlord-class Titan?

But it didn't matter if they didn't recognize it; it wasn't a big problem.

They could at least determine that this giant mech was one of their own, clearing the Chaos enemies from their path.

As they stood in shock, a squad of federation PDF soldiers emerged from the shadow of the Titans.

Their power armor was painted with unfamiliar insignia, and the muzzles of their gauss rifles still glowed with a faint blue energy afterglow.

"Survivors?" The leading federation officer lifted his visor, revealing a stern face.

"We are the PDF from the hive World of Bettel Empire, sent by the governor to help you, but according to our estimates, you are probably the only ones left on the entire planet.

Now you can choose to lay down your weapons and rest in the rear, or pick up your weapons and continue the offensive with us!"
