A bouncy softness, carrying a bewitching fragrance, slapped haphazardly against Jhin's face, nearly shaking his sanity loose.
Using her "utter humiliation" as a weapon, Satania pressed Jhin's entire head into her embrace, shouting his name non-stop. The deep-seated impulse in her heart found some relief, convincing her that Jhin was indeed her boyfriend.
'I must not have seen him for a long time, that's why I'm so excited!'
Jhin grabbed Satania's fragrant shoulders and exerted all his strength to pull his head out of the valley, gasping for air violently.
'I was this close to suffocation.'
Jhin held down Satania, who was eager to give him another "facial treatment" with her chest. "Satania, calm down a bit first, okay?"
"Mhm-mhm."
Satania was abnormally obedient. A single sentence from Jhin made her sit properly in seiza beside him, blinking her crimson eyes and pressing her lips together in a sweet smile, her gaze never leaving Jhin for a second.
'What is with this silly, sweet, loyal dog girlfriend vibe??'
Jhin had to admit, Satania's current appearance really struck a chord with him; new content was being written into his XP system.
Just as Jhin was inspecting his updated XP system, Gabriel, who had been standing dumbfounded on the spot having shot herself in the foot, let out a syllable from her small mouth: "O..."
"Ohhhhhhhhhhh!!!!"
Gabriel let out a miserable shriek. With lightning speed, she grabbed Satania and shook her with all her might.
"Who the hell are you? Stop pretending to be Satania! It's disgusting! Reveal your true form quickly!"
"I-I am Satania!" After losing her memory, Satania was actually harder to deal with. After being shaken back and forth a few times by Gabriel, she broke free. Seeming to realize something, she pointed a slender, jade-like finger at Gabriel with a stern expression.
"Senpai, do you like Jhin too? Is that why you're at his house!?"
Gabriel's movements froze slightly. Immediately, she tugged at the ribbon on her collar as if nothing happened and retorted righteously, "Do you see these clothes? I am the maid Jhin hired, and also his best friend! My relationship with him is much better than yours, you girlfriend!"
"Best friend... maid?" Hearing Gabriel's explanation, Satania tilted her head. Without knowing what went through her mind, she simply accepted the sophistry and bowed in apology. "Is that so? I misunderstood you, Senpai. I'm sorry."
"As long as you know you're wrong."
Satania revealed an innocent, naive smile, exuding the calmness and confidence of an official girlfriend. She politely instructed Gabriel, "Then, please go cook, Senpai. I'm a little hungry."
'Satania hasn't actually lost her memory, has she?'
Such a thought flashed through Gabriel's mind, but she quickly denied it herself.
'Impossible. If this idiot demon hadn't lost her memory, given her IQ, she absolutely couldn't pull off an act like this.'
"Senpai, why are you standing there? Is there no food in the fridge? Jhin, let's go out to buy groceries." Satania naturally took Jhin's hand. Jhin felt her every move was very familiar, though he couldn't immediately recall where he had seen it before.
"No need! I was just thinking about what to cook. You two just stay home." Gabriel stopped Satania with a fake smile, then walked into the kitchen and gently closed the door.
Gabriel bit her thumbnail irritably. She had completely failed to anticipate that Satania would take her joke seriously. Looking at that posture, if she didn't recover her memory, she would continue to regard herself as Jhin's girlfriend indefinitely.
The worst-case scenario would be her living directly in Jhin's house, ordering Gabriel around every day, and restricting her gaming and chatting with Jhin. Just thinking about it made Gabriel furious.
'I was Jhin's best friend first! Why should this idiot demon get to lord it over me just because of a joke?!'
'This cannot be tolerated. I must find a way to restore Satania's memory.'
Gabriel still remembered that during a questionnaire back then, Jhin had said his preferred type was "the kind of girl you feel you can't leave alone at first glance." The current Satania was practically dead center in his strike zone!
'I can't just watch helplessly as Jhin gets seduced by a demon into cheating. I must guide him back to the right path. This is my duty as a best friend and an angel!'
Gabriel took out her phone and dialed Vignette.
"Hello, Vine? Come to Jhin's house quickly. It's an emergency!"
"What is it? Don't ask, just come over!"
After hanging up, Gabriel still didn't cook. She paced anxiously in the kitchen before finally tiptoeing to the door to eavesdrop on the conversation in the room.
Gabriel's series of actions could be described in two words:
She's panicked.
Seeing that they were alone in the bedroom, Satania rested her head on Jhin's shoulder on her own initiative. She held Jhin's right hand, her fingertips slowly tracing the lines on his palm.
Now Jhin remembered completely. Wasn't this the little interaction he used to have with Hitori Gotoh? Satania was copying it exactly!
The slight difference between Satania and Hitori Gotoh was that Satania's movements were more straightforward and bold, without any regard for the surrounding environment or gazes.
Jhin also saw a burning... appetite in her eyes?
'The customs of the Netherworld are simple and honest... surely they don't include eating people, right?'
"Jhin..." Satania licked her lips, pressing half her body onto Jhin's arm. "Why aren't you talking?"
'Because I'm scared! Where did you learn these seductive moves? Bocchi-chan has never done that!'
Fortunately, Satania didn't proceed to the next step; otherwise, Jhin really would have run away. Having a beautiful girl throw herself at him was a wonderful thing, sure, but the problem was that this beautiful girl was amnesiac. If he really did something to her, given his current physique, he definitely couldn't withstand Satania's ashamed and angry revenge once she sobered up.
After obtaining the substitute ability, Jhin's constitution was only slightly beyond that of a normal person; it was far from reaching the level where he could tank magic attacks. When Vignette blew up Gabriel's room, the attack was already the result of her subconsciously holding back. At most, Jhin could activate a time stop to run out of range before she attacked. If he took a direct hit, he'd lose a layer of skin if not die.
To prevent Satania from further displaying her "tea art," Jhin could only hold her in his arms like he usually did with Hitori Gotoh. "I was just thinking about how to restore your memory."
"That sort of thing doesn't matter. Anyway, I've gotten to know you again, and become lovers again."
"What about your parents? You can't just not recognize them either."
"That's true too. Hehe." Satania suddenly giggled foolishly. She rubbed her small head against Jhin's chin and grabbed his arms to hug herself tighter. "Thank you for thinking of me."
'This woman is so damn sweet!'
On the other side, Vignette rushed to Jhin's house in a hurry. Led in by Gabriel, she witnessed this horrifying scene. Vignette rubbed her eyes several times and asked in a tone as if she had seen a ghost:
"When did those two hook up?"
Gabriel spoke in a ghostly tone:
"Just over ten minutes ago. I made it happen with my own hands..."
"!!??"
